#UIUC vs Boston University for CS

I agree but I think you should do research on both a ton
The UIUC “cornfields” are not as bad as you think
UIUC is huge and there is definitely shit to do there within the community
It is a top cs program and recruitment really knows UIUC
I saw ECE student at UIUC who showed me their interns at a company they were interning at and the 2 most popular schools were UIUC and CMU
So yes the UIUC cs program is top, well known, and great research opportunities
It is also relatively cheap to live in illinois from what I’ve heard
However it’s hard to argue with fit
If you go to Boston U which is also great for cs, in the LONG run it probably won’t make much of a difference
These top schools get you the interviews at the company, but for everyone, skills matter the most
Also, I’m pretty sure both schools are quite academically competitive for cs. I wouldn’t worry too much about the grade deflation because most companies know about schools who do this, but keep in mind that it may affect you mentally if you are someone striving for perfection
I don’t think it’s easy to get a 4.0 at UIUC or really at any good cs program
UIUC
It will all depend on what you value most. If you value fit and social scenes more then BU. If you value academics and opportunities more, then UIUC
uiuc
uiuc is better for cs
