ucla pros: not b.a. for science majors iirc, berkeley gives b.a. regardless instead of b.s.
cal pros: transportation????, more prestige in name ig, you get a ball and a hill named after a 4.0 gpa
pro and con lsit didnt show up lmao
**Schools: **UCLA, Cal
**Intended major: **Psychobio (UCLA), cell & molecular bio w/neurobio concentration (Cal)
Similarities: public schools in california, prestige
**Considerations: **not 100% sure abt becoming a doctor & also considering healthtech & bio/business (consulting) careers
UCLA
Pros:
- slightly cheaper
- med school & better for premed
- specific & relatively easy major
- safe neighborhood
- close to home
- certain scholar programs for autism research (i speciifcally want to go into a career to help autistic people)
- guaranteed housing for 4yrs
- dining hall fooddd
Cons:
- social culture isn't for me
- i want to move out of LA
- not good for tech or business
UC Berkeley
Pros:
- top choice rn
- good for everything i want to do
- lots of opportunity
- desired dual degree program (bio + business program)
- always wanted to move to the bay area
- social culture is a really good fit
- i have connections w/Stanford's autism initiatives, so i can do in-person research and help out if i end up at UCB
- already have a roommate
Cons:
- no medical school attached but can commute to stanford/ucsf etc which have pretty good autism medical-related centers/programs
- food is mid
- sketchy area
- grade deflation
- slightly more expensive
Overall i would say UCLA is better academic wise but for social aspects, UCB might be the better choice
another berkeley pro: get calc credit since in ucla i will have to take the lifesci math series so i will need to take 3 or 4 sems in math while in berkeley i only need 1 (calc ii) :,)
I would pick UCLA, and during summers or breaks go Stanford to work at their autism initiative
I feel like for ur interest in bio/business cal has a new program that’s called LSBE that fits ur interest
Program Overview The Robinson Life Science, Business, and Entrepreneurship (LSBE) Program is an integrated, jointly-administered partnership between the Haas School of Business and the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology in the College of Letters and Science.
