Hello, I got into NYU(CAS), UMich(LSA), and USC(Dornslife) for Computer Science as a transfer student and do not know which to attend.

NYU (CAS) for Computer Science

School 1 Pros:

  • Strong alumni network
  • Many family members there
  • Close to home
  • More internships and opportunities?

School 1 Cons:

  • CS ranking is not as high
  • Not sure if it is well-known in tech fields
  • Cost around 60K per year

UMich (LSA) for Computer Science
School 2 Pros:

  • Strong alumni network
  • Top 20 CS program
  • Already got into a research program
  • Strong career outcomes

School 2 Cons:

  • The cost is around 70K per year
  • Far away from home

USC (Dornslife) for Physics/CS
School 3 Pros:

  • Strong alumni network
  • Strong career outcomes

School 3 Cons:

  • Not sure about the price yet but might be around 100k
  • Do not know how hard to internally transfer
  • Too far away from home

Tiebreaking considerations

  • Would stay at NYU but not sure about the career outcomes for CS as NYU is cheaper than UMich
  • Do not know if I should give up the opportunity to go to UMich for cs
  • The top priority would be career outcomes then secondary comes to cost

well usc seems out of the question

#

too expensive, requires internal transfer, far away

#

i think umich makes the most sense but if there’s even a little financial strain stay at nyu
