Personal Details:

Domestic Student from WA
Full Pay - Price considered but not the main concern (no debt parents paying everything)
Best for industry/career
Work Hard Play Hard + Collaborative Culture

Georgia Tech 53k/yr with everything
Pros:

collaborative Culture
Relevatively cheap compared to other options
Top 5 engineering program
Great opportunities and connections
Threads
Good flexibility

Cons:
Farther away from tech hubs like seattle
Farther away from home
More expensive compared to in-state option (53 vs 38k)

UCLA 85k/yr with everything
Pros:
More socially active
Good food
Decent Stats program
Near bigger tech hub

Cons:
competitive and cutthroat
Very expensive
Program is not top top
Placements a bit spotty from what I've heard

Michigan 85k/yr with everything
Pros:
More socially active
Engineering flexibility (FYE program)
Great football (this is just a plus)
Overall strong school, great alumni network

Cons:
expensive
Program is good, but GT is better for eng
Far away from tech hub

UW-Seattle CS 38k/yr with everything
Pros:

Tech Hub
Strong CS brand, im in the top branch at the school
In state so not as expensive as other options
know a ton of people, closer to home

Cons:
Not sure if i want to do CS
Limited flexibility (cant switch easily)

Overall i think since I applied to different majors its up to what I want to do in the end, and even after more research I genuinly do not know. I haven't really done too much in high school so probably good flexibility across STEM is pretty important.

Congrats. No bad options. Take the cheapest, either Gatech or uw

i have kinda narrowed it down to those two, but i just left the other on just in case

Btw Georgia is a hub for aerospace so Gatech is not objectively worse than uw for their respective majors

#

Never been to Georgia myself but I liked uw

The struggle

i think UW its hard to transfer out of CS unless i want a general a&s degree and I want to explore hardware and software to have a degree of optionality

i think im slightly leaning GT right now

Yeah ME and CS are both challenging to get into from other majors

#

Since you have narrowed down the schools and the majors, you can create a course plan and see how much room you have for non-required electives

Have you tried working backwards from job postings? Like go to Lockheed or Amazon or Chevron or openai or bytedance's job site and look at what's interesting?

Most of the compe stuff I’ve noticed is embedded LLP

#

And CS is pretty much accepted for any roles

#

(I’m in Seattle tho so it’s pretty tech focus)

Are you near an engineering library? You can also look at some of the magazines for some of the cool projects in both fields.

I’ll also do some more research into the compe threads at Georgia tech

Idk the online equivalents. Ieee spectrum is the ee version

I nearly went with mechanical because of a fascinating article on detergent bottles lol. Reduce material usage but keep the strength so they can be shipped on pallets.
