Schools: Uni of Florida vs Iowa State
Intended major: MechE
Similarities: Public Universities
Costs: UF- 45k/year
ISU:20k/year

University of Florida
UF Pros:
Environment and its well known and respected.
UF Cons:
The Price

ISU Pros:
Its cheap and Engineering focused.
ISU Cons:
Not as well known and has a 88% acceptance rate

Tiebreaking considerations
Its mainly the cost and I feel like I'd be lowkey embarrased if someone asked me where i go to uni and I saw Iowa State, also my parents are funding my entire education and they said i cant either go to UF but they wont be able to pay for me after that if I want to pursue masters or anything else but if I go to Iowa State theyll fund my masters aswell.

Ask your parents if they'll pay you the difference if you choose ISU

#

Because it's a pretty good engineering school

#

And where you go for undergrad doesn't matter much for engineering

Do you know what you want to do with your degree? If it's actually work in mechanical engineering, then Iowa State will be great! If you're less sure and want optionality like doing something in finance in Miami, for example, then Florida could make more sense. But then, if you save money now, you can always do that master's somewhere where you might want to work/get recruited.

+1 ISU
Great engi program for a great price
High AR doesn't make it any lesser, just means more people get access to a great education :) plus you can always go somewhere else for masters
