Schools: Northeastern, Boston University
Intended major: Biotechnology/Biology
Similarities: pretty similar in terms of location and tuition
Costs: Both are almost similar and cost is not a major factor for me. BU is $91,342 and NEU is $94,137 (but during co-op tuition doesnt count)
Northeastern Pros:
-Co op is really good for my major and a career foundation
-Closed Campus
-I feel like it weirdly fits more for my personality and “vibe”
-I really like some of the biology faculty and their research work
Cons:
-Considered less prestigious
-“Fakes” the acceptance rate so the reputation is not as good
-First year in Oakland and then rest in Boston
BU Pros:
-Seems to be stronger in research and tradition academics
-More reputable and prestigious
-Good faculty to student ratio
-Boston throughout
Cons:
-Don’t like the campus as much or the lack of a traditional campus
-Grade deflation
-I don’t know how to explain this but the vibe doesn’t fit me as well
I feel like a lot of people are pushing me to pick BU due to a better ranking but some genuine advice on both and suggestions based on things other than prestige would be appreciated !
