Location/Region: anywhere except Midwest (Too cold lol). I like to be next too or inside a major city (Isn’t fully necessary)

Major: Either economics, business, international relations

Gpa & Test Scores: Junior right now but it’s looking Like will end my junior year with all A+’s (so 4.0 unweighted this year). My overall unweighted would be around a 3.75+ and Weighted a 4.1. (My C+ in french messed me up last year) 😭 + Would have taken 8+ aps by the time i’m done senior year. 1 honor biology, rest all enriched.

Curriculum: Strong business school

Size: preferably a somewhat bigger school 4000+

Costs: N/A

Schools you’re currently looking at: ut austin would be my dream but out of state 💔. I liked umiami, nyu, smu, university of Georgia.

Additional: School is known, has some level of prestigious, good job placement.

are you looking to stay in the south?

umbral light
#

I’m not from the south but the south could be an option!

teal lance
#

i know you don't like midwestern schools but Umich ross and IU kelley could be something to think about, they're both large publics

#

what are you instate for?

umbral light
#

Im from nj

Georgetown is very good for all three of your majors (it's ranked #1 for international relations and its business school is #1 for international business and investment banking), I think you should definitely apply there

#

Applying to Rutgers is definitely a good safety option

#

You could also look at UC Berkeley's Haas business school which is very strong

umbral light
#

Thanks! I’ll definitely check georgetown but i’m afraid it will be a major reach

umbral light
#

I was thinking of applying as undecided for NYU

teal lance
#

Georgetown is very oriented towards fit, and they like to take students who really demonstrate passion for their major

#

as well as high levels of community service

#

Grades/stats matter less

umbral light
#

I have more international relations ecs do you think that would have a better impact in decisions at a school like georgetown?

teal lance
#

Yeah

#

They technically don't admit by major but gtown has a school of international relations and a school of business that you get admitted to

umbral light
#

Oh so you apply to the school not major

teal lance
#

yeah but basically you apply to major because the schools are small

umbral light
#

If I were applying to georgetown what school would you suggest?

teal lance
#

I would probably suggest McDonough (business)

umbral light
#

Thanks!

#

Is it less competitive school than international relations?

teal lance
#

yeah and the majors are pretty good

#

for what you want to study

umbral light
#

Thanks!

You could also look at Berkeley Haas like I said before, and some safety options could be George Washington, Florida International, American University, Northeastern (not a "safety" but it's easier than it looks to get in), Fordham

umbral light
#

Yes I was looking at Northeastern but a lot of times they admit you to a different campus?

teal lance
#

it's their way of lowering acceptances rates

umbral light
#

Oh good to know!

teal lance
#

I think it's still worth applying, but only if you get into Boston campus

umbral light
#

Would you say UC Berkeley haas would be a lower chance then Georgetown McDonough

teal lance
#

it depends, if your ECs are stronger than your grades, then yeah

umbral light
#

I definitely have more ecs focused on more international relations things then business so i’m thinking for McDonough I would have a little bit strong app

teal lance
#

i mean, either one you can figure out later by which major you want to do

#

internal transfers between the schools are a little hard

Drexel, UT Knoxville, University of alabama, university of florida, you could look at UC Schools, UVA, Emory!!, even georgia tech tbh

umbral light
#

There definitely reaches tho 😂😂😂

alpine turtle
#

lol. you could also look at clemson, vtech

#

maybe Auburn

umbral light
#

I’ve heard about those schools but the job placement is more difficult in schools like Auburn, Alabama etc right?

teal lance
#

yes

#

but you can get into honors colleges

#

which balances it out!

#

we have ILR major or strong business schools as well (nolan or dyson)

theres also a business minor thats quite popular that anyone can partake in; its usually customized to your major
