pls do not say RISD—i live in RI and hear from so many people how terrible it gets (and i don’t wanna be that close…)

**also i want like different schools that don’t have to be art schools just any that’s warm. also i don’t want deep south

  • **Location/Region: somewhere warm is literally my only req—atm i live in ri so im done w the east coast weather. like i don’t want super modern buildings but like idrc if they don’t make me depressed. like if it’s cloudy out i won’t be like “it’s so ugly”

  • Major: industrial design (for medical devices OR tech… leaning towards med but tech pays more)

  • GPA/Test Scores: 3.8 UW 1100 psat (didn’t study…); took 3 ap and 4 honors classes (probably next year will take one more ap)

  • Curriculum: idkkk

  • Size: idrk how big the college is, but i want smaller classes

  • Costs: cost will not affect

  • Schools You're Currently Looking At: i looked at scad and loved it, and pratt but i didn’t like it

  • Additional: good dorms (or at least updated), good facilities, good community

but I also don't think you need ths electives necessarily to go into med device design because that's probably what they teach most of their ID peeps on the job.

i also konw dukes has a master's in medical device design. ii just don't know how popular that is of an option for ugrad or what schools offer that

#

orrr better yet that's probably opportunities you could apply or gain experience iin extracurriculars or something like the co-op

#

or the projects you get assgned in the design courses

RTP area does a lot of medical stuff in general so there are a lot of opportunities locally to do medical id

#

i think this article from NCSU ID would be worth a read (focused on mother-infant couplet design which won an award)

#

ill see if i can find any courses/faculty that specifically do med ID

#

oh yeah we absolutely do a bunch of med ID
students have worked with BD medical, bioventus, Chapel Hill Medical Center & UNC Rex, UNC Health, Duke Eye center (sponsored studios)
