I have 6 more slots for schools and a lot of the slots I took already were made at the same time on some not so great colleges because I just wanted to see an acceptance letter. I’ve gotten into every school, that said, they haven’t been all that competitive.

Location: City or Suburb that functions as a city (Northampton). USA preference. I’m in Idaho, state schools aren’t great. Definitely just looking for anything with a reasonable climate. Very cold where I am. No southern Florida and good schools in Boston or UMich is my max for coldness.

  • Major: as “psych” or “gender studies”

  • GPA/Test Scores: go to therapeutic school no GPA/Testing available

  • Curriculum: preferably neurodiverse population. Not super snobby rich kids

  • Size: class sizes avg ~20 is max

  • Costs: nothing unreasonably expensive

  • Schools You're Currently Looking At:
Any hard to get into coastal school:

Wellesley, Northeastern, BU, Tufts, Holy Cross, Amherst, Smith, Wesleyan, Vassar, Hamilton, bryn mawr, Villanova, swarthmore, bucknell, franklin&marshall, william&mary, Dickinson, UMich, CMU, Wake Forest, Colorado College, UWashington, Reed College, Lewis&Clark, Pitzer, Scripps

  • Additional: dealbreaker is inconvenience. Area should be walkable and have stuff to do year round. Nicer environment preferable either nature wise or architecture wise

I do think smith is like my ideal college but it also feels so competitive like not just competitive to get in but like no one there seems particularly comfortable ever. If I could go anywhere, it’d be to coastal California probably Pitzer or Scripps. Someone suggested Hamilton and Vassar as well so I included not sure about them though. East coast is very humid from what I’ve seen on the climate maps. Not looking for humid. Where I live is labeled dry cold.

oh i didnt see it on ur list my bad 😭

The humidity is probably the main reason I haven’t already applied

it has no supps which is nice

My goal right now is to narrow it down to just a few. I have relatives in New England which is why I put some schools there but I would rather go to California

Idt CMU or Wake Forest are going to fit the vibe you're looking for

#

UWashington I think the app cycle is over

Ah darn, that's ok though because I don't think it fits the size you're looking for. Same with UMich

#

I guess since you want to be kinda close to home you could look at other Cali LACs like Pomona College, Claremont Mckenna (they're all on like the same block so I guess you'd have to really like that location)

i have fam in chicago, boston (area i guess), detroit (area), san francisco (area)

#

rly only college in that area is UCB

deft delta
#

Ok, I think if that's your location criteria then that should help you narrow down your list a lot

#

For the boston area you could consider Boston College, Simmons, Wellesley

Northwestern for Chicago

analog kite
#

wellesley is probably best for boston, northwestern sounds good for chicago if its close

#

oh wow 37 mins thats super close

#

my favorite reach is amherst bc it has that great consortium

#

and pitzer/scripps for same reason (except theyre very far from fam)

#

amherst is about 1.5 hrs from fam

#

but fam is in waltham which is why brandeis is such a good fit

#

(waltham is where brandeis is)

deft delta
#

waltham also fits the description of like being kinda near a city but not being the city

#

but 1.5hrs isn't bad either

#

yes. i should probably go. but everyone i know whos toured it (one person) has said it didnt feel like a community

#

he visited in winter so it looked very bare and said a lot of concrete

#

but i wouldnt be living on the campus so it doesnt really matter specifically for brandeis i guess

deft delta
#

there you go. you can also always tour it or do the virtual tour to see how you feel

it's a good school and there was a real chance i wouldnt get in and i got in and i dont know why im so scared

#

i just keep seeing people say its like not that good or smth

#

but like maybe its not that good for those crazy people in A2C but it can still be good for me

#

no offense a2c
