does caltech really not count cs as a stem subject
do they want a core subject
you could ask for a rec from a math or physics teacher before the RD deadline?
Duke, USC, Loyola Marymount (idk how lgbtq friendly the campus is), Cal Poly (not diverse though), Yale could be good options
They might also have the language requirement, whoops
Oh Northwestern has a lot of cool interdisciplinary math/humanities programs too
purdue! tons of really good and easy to access undergrad research, access to nature, its friendly to lgbtq and diverse, and i love it here :D
I mean they still admit people in the RD round. but yeah it's a super selective school so it'd be a reach
Dartmouth would be awesome for you
Some of the smallest classes out there, recently dumped a ton of money into cs so very strong for it and math, famous for access to nature and work hard play hard mentality. Also some of the easiest research opportunities since the undergrads outnumber the grad students by so much
Based on your preferences dartmouth kinda sounds like the perfect fit bar it not being on the west coast I guess
Cornell also fits a lot of those criteria (except the research opportunities and class sizes)
cmu is literally perfect
for this
excellent cs, weβre number 2
and excellent architecture
and bxa you can do both
Maybe look at other Claremont colleges
If you want an out of state safety (far from home) maybe UT Dallas - you get good merit aid there and they have https://cs.utdallas.edu/education/computing-scholars-honors-program/

I don't think Pomona is more difficult to get into than HMC
No its very left leaning
Its the most conservative ivy but trust me thats still very left lol
Id say 90% of the people ive met (whose political affiliations ive found out) were democrats
Faculty also are more democrats and the surrounding town of hanover is even more blue than the student body
