#UNC Chapel Hill (2025-2026)
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
ain't no way it's the better blue
does anyone go here rn
Yeah a few folks
Unc blue is more iconic than Duke blue
nuh uh
unc 👴
never heard of it
Crazy account 💀
Better blue indeed 🔥 🩵
noooo 😢
you should be. although i did work, volunteer, and study at unc for like a year so i cant complain too much
and my college roommate married a unc grad 😭
Reminds me of the med student I talked to at my primary care appointment, asked me where I went to school and told me he prefers to go to Franklin St than whatever's in Durham
Which is crazy imo bc I love the food around Durham
Maybe Duke will take me for a postdoc. Then I can complete the RTP trifecta
hello future uncs
Will I be able to get my bio 101 class this semester? 💀 Is there just not enough seats for people
my friend said she got placed in like an intro to archaeology lecture because she couldn't register for a class she acc wanted 😂
People move around a lot esp for high-demand classes -- just be patient and trust the process
Absolute worst case scenario you'll take it next semester
So I'm in a late English 105 class and when I press validate for enrollment for tmw it says I cant enroll in the English 105 twice
Do I have to drop the English 105 or can I press enroll and it automatically swaps them out
You'll have to use the actual "swap" feature to swap them
Bc it wont auto swap
Where is that?
Are you using old or new UI?
I know on old UI there was a bar on the enrollment tab with like Add/Drop/Swap
I'm using the new UI
Interesting
I can't drop it now no?
The one I have rn ends at like 3:45 or something
Is a 1490 SAT sufficient for Chapel Hill?
I would say so
ok. thank you
unc ‘30 moment
yep
does unc fav nc residents??
Yeah
im tryna find out if is worth it for me to apply to unc can anyone help
I'm in-state and im trying to major in either computer science, data science, or information science
I think it's worth applying. Info sci is fantastic at UNC, and a double major with DS or CS (or even stats/math) can really strengthen quantitative skills. Super easy to double major too
I have a 3.58 unweighted and 4.21 weighted gpa though. I'm really unsure if I'm competitive for it
You're totally fine!
Really? I thought unc was one of those uni's that emphasize high gpa more
It's more like OOS/Wake/Meck inflates the shit out of it lol
Also on the CDS they report weighted GPA as "unweighted accepted GPA"
So they report an avg accepted GPA of like 4.2/4.0 or something
I don't want to pretend that UNC is a cakewalk or super easy to get into, but you definitely don't need to statsmax either :)
wait so those r the hardest counties?
I'm in cabarrus its right above meck
Highest amount of applications I think
I can check the dashboard
But yeah Meck has Charlotte and Wake has Raleigh so
@wild remnant could we pin the dashboard again ^
Can you add a caption to that message so people know what the link is
aye aye
You can also check your specific school if you're in NC
120 applied and 45 got accepted from just my school

i might be cooked
Elaborate?
15%
6.63?????
It's NC state law that UNC system schools cannot have more than 18% of their incoming class OOS, unless they want a multi million dollar fine
So yeah when an ever increasing amount of OOS students are applying with limited seats it will be very low :P
im so glad im in state bro
🙏
that’s really interesting
i’m surprised 6.2k instate and 2.8k oos and 1.1k intl acceptances turn
jumpscare??
YOU are the jumpscare
i saw you in the gtech thread too 😭
Well yeah why wouldn’t I be in there
no bc ur unc i thought you left server after apps yk
no i wanted to watch ur grade suffer
as you should ngl 👑

it’s so over
nah
im getting flashbacks to last year when i was applyin by seeing the new threads lol!
yes
it is absolutely over
for me
might need to call it quits and just go to charlotte
whats making you think that?
i have like no progress on my personal statement and I am in a straight mental block
i cannot for the life of me think of something good to write about
tip for unc in particular: loves outgoing people who are dedicated to public service
everyone is an extrovert here
so bank on public service
i have heard that I have a bunch of friends going there
ill see, I haven’t done much but I’ve volunteered with my church and I also work a job at a retirement center
would it be worth talking about some specific experience at either
as for stats, median SAT last last cycle was 1470 and and 97% had an unweighted 4.0 GPA
im taking this directly from their common data set
ive gotten two Cs I definitely don’t have a 4.0
just cross your fingers but dont think that its the end of the world based on your college decision
they didnt release the common data set from last cycle yet
which is honestly weird cuz a bunch of other colleges did lol
ive heard it’s easier for this years applicants
500 new seats but 25,000 more people applied
so not really
yeesh
polisci
oh okay, yeah unc would be great for that, they are #20 in law too iirc
are you looking at OOS options?
thats pretty good, bank on that
nah i dont plan on going oos
i want to stay in nc
plus oos tuition I dont want my parents to pay for that + my sisters tuition since she’s graduating in two years
yeahh
are you going to chapel
i am in chapel hill right now
nice nice, mind if I ask your stats and ecs
i applied OOS, so i also had a bunch of other OOS applications as well and was gonna give you some if you wanted
if you could that’d be great
4.0 UW 10 APs + 1540 equiv SAT + hundreds of hours in volunteering + various code projects that ive submitted for rankings/awards + student council/long distance team/intl piano stuffs

i was kinda all over the place lol and applied for B.A. in CS and then switched over to B.S. in Biology
that’s insane
doesn’t matter ur at the best one now
all it takes is one tbh like expect rejections its part of the cycle
ask dr squirmy if you have any questions on UNC they've been super helpful
RIP bio midterm no curve 💔
yeah if I dont get into chapel hill im probably gonna go to charlotte (or wake forest if i get in)
btw transferring is super viable
Tbh just start writing
You can always cut stuff that's bad, you can't edit what's not there
I know writing is hard but once you start, try and motivate yourself to keep going, even if you're just writing bullet points. Any progress is good progress!
even for like Cornell and Stanford
transfer rate is pretty damn high
so if yo0ure interested in that, by all means i highly recommend
will look into it
i dont like to think of any school being the "best"
because it all comes down to the program and a lot of other factors
for example: turing UT austin CS full ride trumps harvard CS
UNCC and WFU are still goated af, and I know a lot of UNC system classes tend to transfer between schools (if that ends up being the path you go down)
even turing UT Austin CS alone honestly trumps Harvard CS
meanwhile if its for law school, it'd be the other way around
god harvard law school has so much aura right now LOL
with the entire trump arc
and like, for me, i had to pick between UIUC CS+Math or UNC Biology, so i chose UNC Biology
it depends on which school offers whichever program is best for you
yeah everyone I know is breathing down my neck about chapel hill and acting like all the other unc colleges aren’t good asw
you can thrive just fine going to any other college, but are you planning on going for pre-anything?
or just only bachelors
just bachelors probably
alr
No shade to Chapel Hill but I've been absolutely loving NC State LOOOL like sure CH has a ton of prestige and its earned it but that absolutely doesnt mean other schools in the system are worse
state is great too
Looooove state
yeah the only thing you may miss out on going to other places is the sheer amount of opoprtunities that are happening 24/7 at chapel hill, @fiery anchor can confirm lol, pitn is active like actually 24/7 and clubs for practically anything you could think about + the staff system is super responsive and writing center is actually peak, super helpful and booking is really fast
and im sure networking is pretty important for polisci, UNC has like networking events happening all the time, large business gatherings with students wearing formal suits, kinda cool
but you could definitely make things work going anywhere else, as long as you have a fire burning within you, you can make things happen
lowk dont know much about state other than they have a great engineering program
Yeah state is the goat for engi and ag
and if you're coming here for engineering, idk man
highly recommend you apply to UIUC for engineering
UIUC or Georgia Tech
and if instate its NCSU
Weaker for HASS compared to other UNC system schools (esp CH) but absolutely not bad
isnt agriculture like super good at UNC?
anything life science related UNC is great
UNC ag related stuff is more history/anthro iirc
State is very technical/hands on ag
It depends on what aspect
state is the only college campus I’ve been on
duke campus is so mid and then theres just a random church in the middle of campus 😂
went there once because my precalculus teacher agreed to give us extra credit if we took a picture in front of the wolf ear structure
lmaoo
State is very urban, but still pleasantly green for how urban it is
But I'd probably have to say I prefer UNC's campus because it's more green (even tho NCSU has more green architecture type stuff)
unc buildings are so cutesy old-brick styled on the outside
and you go inside and its super modern
ii love it
@dull swallow ok though tbh, when it comes to pure academics, the only schools that you woudld really have to worry about is Caltech, MIT, UT Austin Turing Program, and Georgia Tech engineering program
literally all other schools in america dont care about academics as much so long you can spin a cool story with wacky ECs :)
people make it into traditional ivies very year with a 1300 or 1400 SAT
insanelyyyy competitive
yeah but then they’ll have diabolical ecs
you just need to have like good, interesting ECs
how so
how many APs are offered/do you know your high school's median SAT?
because comiong from california, our median SAT was 1400 in my public high school of 2400 people
It’s a school where if ur not taking aps ur considered dumb
and i knew many taking 16+ aps
More like 4+ aps per year
all 26? damnn lmao
yeah and lowk
public
oh wow ok
wait I might have miscounted
we dont have hug and seminar
but looks like every other ap I can think of is here
yeah so I took a bunch
if youre planning on staying in this server, heads up, people are going to start dropping once decisions come out
got a few Bs few As one C
like, by dropping i mean getting banned from the server
why’s that
they freak out in chat
there was this one dude who like absolutely crashed out it was crazy
college decisions
overasll though this community is great
a2c subreddit is fried
a2c discord is lovely
i may still be in here if 3 years later when i plan on applying for more
same
yeah so 26 aps most people I know are taking 4-5+ each year
and honestly I didn’t do like any in school clubs besides fbla
@dull swallow one thing that i randomly remembered and want to tell you about is that, UNC has a crazy amount of opportunities that give you direct pathway upon application/acceptance to Duke, Harvard, JHU, and other neighboring t20 universities for research, reserved only for students - you just gotta check your email
alr
colleges often work with each other, though its more or less of a closed circle-ish
UNC connections are crazy good
yeah its so much infomation i feel my head spinning looking through my emails
sorry, what does connections mean in this context
Is unc transfer acceptance rate for instate students the same as first year instate applicants?
any internationals who got into unc? im applying for biology from an asian country and need stats advice
I dont think they're the same, I think it might be higher due to CC transfer agreements? But I'll have to check dashboard
can you check for me?
From what I’ve seen the acceptance rate was 45% for transfer
from here (using fall 2024)
- overall admit rate: 36.4%
- NC CC system: 50.5%
- UNC to UNC: 41.1%
- NC private to UNC: 38%
- OOS: 30.7%
@willow cloud ^
Unc to unc?
like within UNC system transfers
so like wilmington to chapel hill, ncsu to chapel hill, etc.
oh yes yes okay
Hey! I was wondering if anyone has applied to the morehead Cain scholarship I had a few questions
I havent finished with Robertson fully yet but I ll have questions later for that
It’s been a sec but yea what’s up
is anyone here an econ bs at unc
im considering a double major and debating between ba and bs
I know a few people who are but I’m not myself
Biggest difference is bs is more cred hours but looks better
BA generally works well as a 2nd major if its ur 2nd since it has more flexible reqs
Its worth it to talk to econ advising bc BA vs BS may be better suited based on career interests and goals
Like in the bio dept they only push the BS for premed (specifically MD) and ppl wanting to go to grad school for research
did anyone do the supps yet
yes
am I fried for getting into unc chapel hill if I'm in-state, have a 3.58 unweighted gpa, 4.21 weighted gpa, 33 act, and a couple CS/AI internships?
No
whyd bro react with that
why
I mean, what answer are you looking for?
Your profile is fine for UNC
well my gpa is way below average so I thought it wouldn't be fine for UNC
It's holistic, so they'll account for everything else in your app too
it really depends on context
but you never know if youre actually fried
Oh ok
oh like what
Like how competitive it is and stuff in your area
And also average stats in your school and etc
Lot of factors that go into it so hard to say how it’ll go for you
121 applied and 46 got in from my school
13 days
does unc weigh your course rigor and gpa more than essays for out of state students?
There isn't really more or less weight between them relatively speaking
However, as an OOS student, you are competing in the "OOS pool" moreso than the in state pool (since they can only admit x% OOS). So the GPA/course rigor they're looking for might be relatively higher for OOS students because of the relatively higher competitiveness (that is, the students you'll be compared to will have higher stats)
anyone here majoring in cs at unc?
yes
How is it
I’d say it’s pretty solid
Definitely can tell that cs isn’t a huge school but def good
what were the ec's that got you in
I personally don’t think my ecs were all that crazy ngl feel like my academics did more
but I was a varsity captain, part of a npo (yes only the millionth one) and then some random stuff
should i namedrop professors in my second supp
for the video essay submission is this a big part of the moreheadcain video essay
I think I messed up on it
Sounds pretty good to me I’m ngl 😭
What is that one again
It's talking about what academic topic would you like to study
I’m ngl I don’t really remember if it was a big part but I’m sure you’ll be fine
Oh that one
Thanks!
I’m gonna say it really depends on sort of how you name drop them
Also does doing ncssm online help in chances of getting into unc? with good ecs and essays ofc
I’m don’t think it does directly but generally I feel like if you can get into ncssm online you have a good shot but that’s just a guess
it does look good though
They take note of your grades there as well so might help if you’re doing well there
Ok
I haven’t checked my file but a friend saw this in his admission file^
i named drop them bc i said i wanted to do research with them since their research interests aligned w my passions
i wrote my essay abt anthropology and this professor does research w anthropology but concerning human dev.
I would say as long as you’re specific enough as to why you chose him it’s fine
without going too into detail
Cause I’ve seen many times where people just choose someone random in the department with no particular reason shown
I feel like namedropping for undergrad admissions is excessive and I agree it depends on how
It may be best to focus more broadly on the specific offerings at UNC that focus on human dev in anthro and then maybe pull him in for a sentence on the specific 1:1 interest match. Less like "I want to research with him" and more like "this is what is special about UNC" if that makes sense
i referenced two anthro classes that i believe i wouldve beem really interested in (living medicine & war and peace) and then i talked abt SURFS and then study abroad programs, is there anything else you think i should talk about as well?
yeah my one good ec is interning at this company and building an AI agent
I’d say that’s pretty solid
Are you instate or oos
Instate
Ok yea your odds are pretty good cause instate is relatively quite high
But I can’t say for sure obviously
how can I do internships as an online hs student
I feel that I don’t have many ec’s to do since I’m homeschooled
I would love to do an internship but idk how
for my ec’s so far.. I host Zumba classes on the weekends, I have a TikTok page that focuses on skin health and fitness, I plan on volunteering at a hospital this winter and shadowing a dermatologist
and I’m applying as a transfer (instate) since I do dual enrollment
I wanna major in exercise science
are my ec’s good? should I add more
and i go to the gym but i don’t know if that should be counted as an ec 😭
but it’s smth I do outside of school so 🤷♂️
You're fine
Take a deep breath
You don't need to have 50 major-relevent experiences to have a chance at getting in
Your ECs are fantastic (especially if they're things you enjoy doing)
One of my roommates was EXSS :) seems like a very fun major
YES okay ❤️
What in EXSS interests you?
well I really love staying fit and I wanted to learn more about the subject
and abt the human body too
tbh I’m doing this major bc it’s something I feel like I will enjoy
my goal is to become a dentist
and I didn’t wanna do the normal route and pick bio or chem
Sorry if it came off judgmental lol, I was just interested because I feel like EXSS is a "hidden gem" major
Almost everyone I've met from EXSS is super cool
oh your good 😭
Lots of very cool EXSS classes too
Feels like a more "applied" flavor of premed bio lol
hi can someone read my chapel hill supps
Yep. I went to UNC for undergrad, bio and environmental science
Currently at NCSU for my phd
omg fun I love how you stayed in nc for ur education
yea but I have a 3.58 unweighted gpa and 4.21 weighted😭
who do i put for the authorize to share my college application discussion with
is it to ask people about my application or just share my decision w them
i just put my counselor and my parents
Is it better to apply EA or RD as out of state
EA is always better
+1 EA is always better
This is anecdotal but I submitted EA and in my admissions folder thing they made the decision within a week of me submitting
can any1 read my supps pls
Both are taken into account I think, it's very important to show that you're a person behind your application but also UNC is a pretty academically competitive school
Even in state students
I be hearing the wildest shit from freshmen around me
😭
"oh yeah I used to be a research assistant and took images of the cochlea"
"I designed a synthetic fiber"
It's not that deep tho I'm out of state and I didn't do anything crazy outside of my scores
But my situation is a lot different
Your milage may vary
Focus on what you can control rn (essay and application)
alr tysm
what was ur gpa
half the people that went from my school were this type of person and then the other half did the bare minimum 😭
3.95
But no AP's
But I didn't have access to them the majority of my hs career
So again your milage may vary
guys should i apply ea here
i dont have my common app essay done or any supps but i am going premed route and i heard the school is good for premed
i also like the campus and location, i just dont know about cost because im oos and have a budget of around 30k per year
You have two days, friend 🫡
i am procrastination master
hell nah bruh its basically 1 day at this point
idk if you can pull it off if ur personal statement isnt even done but you can try 💀
most people ik at least had their personal done and just half assed the supps in a day or two and got in but that's because we're all in state 😹
Oh
guys what’s the best time for submitting to unc chapel hill?
is the website gonna crash on oct 15 or not because it’s only unc chapel hill due that day?
Best time? A week ago
Second best time? As soon as possible
i had a friend who submitted at 11:59:59 by some miracle and she is currently attending so make of that what you will
I’ve never heard of that one ngl
I did dual enrollment in hs applied normally and so did a lot of my friends
Ngl i did it the last day
I go here now
take that as you will lol
Ah I mean it’s still really depends on context and all yknow
I know guys here with similar stuff
ehh unless you get scholarship here might be twice that budget but I’d still go for it since you never know
nvm I take that back if even ps isn’t don’t then you might be cooked
Yeah bro still havent started
Lmfao
Might not even ea anywhere brah
Im fried
why not out of curiosity
Honestly yah ima js put together a decent caps and some supps
See where it takes me
I’d strongly reccomend EAing to some places at least
Wait what’s your list looking like if no EA
Still same
Even if I dont ea ima rd to them
Going like 5 reaches nyu jhu Columbia cornell duke
Maybe some more
🎉
damn
i heard the website crashes the night of the deadline
is this true for colleges due oct 15 as well or no because theres so less colleges due oct 15
is there more priority if you submit earlier before the deadline ?
Safety’s/targets?
I don’t think so
It happens sometimes but I did it the morning of and it was fine
Then again i wouldn’t reccomend
Safeties like random suny and cuny and target stonybrook bing
Oh
also do I have to send the request to all my recommenders before the unc chapel EA deadline or can I do it after cuz the rec letter is due later??
Def send all requests beforehand
Lemme transfer here plz
actually I’m not sure I’m gonna talk to my advisor abt that
did the credits you do in dual enrollment transfer to unc?
Yeah they did
I had the courses in additional courses on common app and then sent in transcript once it was time for all that stuff
UNC EA apps are due today!
If you have any questions, ask in this thread, but here’s an FAQ you can read first:
What time are EA applications due?
11:59pm in your time zone.
I’d rather apply RD now. When are those apps due?
January 15.
I turned in my application at 11:58pm in my time zone but Common App says I submitted a couple hours late!
Why did you procrastinate so much Common App records all time stamps in Eastern Tome regardless of where you’re located. You don’t need to worry about this time stamp.
I was fully late with turning in my application. Am I doomed?
If the school took your money, then they also took your application. You’re fine.
When will I hear back from UNC?
Typically, you’d hear back for EA in late January and RD in late March regardless of your residency status. This year, UNC has changed their decision release dates to be a bit different:
- EA (NC residents): by December 20
- EA (non-NC residents): by February 10
- RD (all applicants): by March 31
I applied for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship. When will I hear back?
Mid-December for semifinalist and mid-January for finalist.
@everyone
Submitting in oct just to get it back by feb is crazy 😭😭
oh
ok ykw I guess I’ll apply for first year then
bc for ecu on the common app they asked if you did dual enrollment and if you wanted to apply as a transfer student
wow ea for instate comes back December now?
WHAT
Thats a bit over a month earlier than what it used to be dang
rip non residents tho extra 2 weeks wait time
skill issue
I like it it’s pretty nice
yess
I’m comp sci stat and math minor
oh nice
Wow
Man yall are getting started early with this stuff
lmfaoo yes
I mean honestly good for you helps a lot knowing this stuff earlier
More like 6
They used to all be late Jan
Now it’s late Dec and early/mid Feb
Isn’t new in Feb for ea
Oh I thought you were counting between resident and non resident ea
But if you’re counting from the old one yeah it’s 2
Ohh I was just saying old vs new
Are any other t30 ea due today
lets goo im a resident i dont have to wait
i love the grade deflatioin in this university
Grade deflation until ur in upper divs 🔥
would anyone be willing to give a quick look over my common app essay before I submit to UNC tonight? It sounds ass and I would love a second opinion
If you think it's bad, apply RD
If you want to apply EA, then someone reading it wouldn't make it any better
its not horrendous, but i think getting some suggestions would help
gl everyone🙏
did anyone get the portal login stuf yet 😮
yes i got it
oh alr
xd it's my first app this season haha
🔥
oh thanks
are u in state or oos
yo guys i might be fried
i think i only had 1 teacher rec before submitting
and 1 of my counselor recs asssigned
but i missed to assign my oos rec
can i go back and find a way to make my mentor upload it before supplement deadlines?
nah u cant but unc chapel hill only requires 1 teacher rec so you'll be fine for the most part I think
so the assigned counselor can upload but i cant assign my mentor now and have them upload?
when i submitted i forgot i still had to register for a class for the 3rd and 4th quarters of ym school year for one of the periods and i just chose an elective today; does this need to be reported? its just an elective
oos
not everyone gets it at the same time, give it a few days
yep
I don’t think so but you could contact them to try
I would just reach out to unc saying that but I doubt it really hurts you in any way
what the fuck
Bc he’s copying the ram’s moves
i took a very long time to realize that was a ram at first i thought it was a dog then a human and i was extremely lost 💀
😭
How’s football going for yall down the road?
😹
Last time UNC was good at (money generating) sports was my freshman year 💔
TCU waa heartbreaking
i remember when unc beat duke at coach k's final game 👴
that was such an incredible game
unc basketball 2019-2022 was an amazing stretch of basketball
absolutely
How are my future tarheels holding up this fine November afternoon
booo
☠️
Bros mad bc he cant be us smh
georgia tech vs georgia summarized
hi guys
Hello!
did anyone else just the thank you for applying email
yep
yeah i got a letter too
Yeah i like their personal letter
Are you out of state if so thats normal I think
The letter is a generic thank you. It does not mean anything.
Waiting for decisions is killing me
you got this
is this at unc
no i just posted reels in multiple threads to revive them
😭
whatever came on the feed that i use to follow a2cers
my 1st semester unc experience has been great
i think its such a big school that you can find like minded folks
so far professors have been really good
and the humanities classes engaging but i lowkey gave up on it
campus culture is chill
idk about partying but i think its underwhelmign compared to other unis
you can tell who's bright and genuinely a good person vs people who feel very smart just for being at the uni
I don't feel a sense of elitism here
its definetly a play hard work hard environment and ive seen folks with super incredible achievements who are my age or even younger
dining hall started as a solid 7/10 but i think its more of a 5/10 cause im getting sick of it
but you have other options with plus swipes (you only get 35 per semester with any plan) like chic fil a and subway
dorms really vary in quality
and dorms on the south of campus mean you have to walk 15 minutes before you reach any lecture hall
as a queer perosn i feel safe and theres a large community and its mostly liberal save the business white boys
how diverse is it therr
i alwsys thought it was hella white people
its PWI but its not like youre drowning in white ppl
at least in my experiences, its more about the ppl you seek out & the majors youre in rather than it just being innately white
its a big enough school that its somewhat what you make of it?
oh yes i forgot about that
there's many asian students
really lacking in black representation
and you can definetly tell who has never lived a life around systemic inequality
and culturaly inept
but you'll find a diverse group of friends if you look for it
it does give off so much white energy on game days 😭
Doing gods work
good shit
makes sense! def moving up on my list then
If you're from a poorer background definitely apply
I'm oos but got the covenant scholarship because my family doesn't make a lot
It is something for lower class folks if that makes sense but I was surprised I got it
I'm in state for UConn and they wanted me to pay 15k per year
😭
this is true
this isnt necessarily related to that but it reminded me
you have a wide range of ppl so you get the like "UNC was my dream school/reach and im so grateful they offered me aid to attend" to "UNC was my safety" (which tend to correlate a bit with the ppl who have/havent experienced inequality)
Did anyone apply to robertson?
I will add to this tho that there’s buses that stop right in front of south campus if you’re not feeling the walk
oh that’s 5 days old 💔
This is true
No worries
Did anyone get a decision early
thats athing?
@somber socket can I please dm, wants to ask you some stuffs privately
don’t we get it around 20th?
or can it come earlier too?
yea thats what the official date is
Is that even a thing
i dont think so lol
Yea I’ve never heard of it either
the in state accpetnace rate is roughly 40% ea right?
Yeah roughly
although that rate is usually only there in the cities near it
aka near the rdu
and then charlotte
so for the other cities that are rural what do u think the in state ea rate is
Definitely lower by a lot
For example from wake county
Why is that?
on average you’ll see 50-100 kids a high school getting in
I go to a small private school in Charlotte and I do IB, is it bad that I’m not worried one bit abt decisions?
Like I’m genuinely super confident I won’t get ejected
I mean not really
I was like that too
I would say that I knew several people who also felt the same
which is just the case given the rather high instate acceptance rate and in my case high stats / good ecs
Yea that’s what I was thinking
to be honest from what I’ve seen unc has been quite focused on hard numbers for the most part with minimal weight on ecs in comparison
If I was oos I’d be cooked but in state I feel like I’m chilling, people with a much less compelling narrative/spike got in last year from my school
Yea I peeped GPA is #1 priority
do you think it’s the same for essays?
I’m not too sure for essays but mine were horrible and written the day before
cause tbh I was just worried abt my personal statement cause it def wasn’t as good as it is now by the time i submitted
So take that how you will
ahh got it
I don’t think so
also keep in mind it looks like unc has changed their system of decision making since I did so
Kids from my school last year got in with shit essays
How so
They seem to have separated out oos and instate
which wasn’t the case before
I’m not sure how that fares for new applicants tho
Oh for release dates?
I’m in state but it’s really weird bc I’m doing hs in India so idek what I come under
With their ea1/ea2 system
They use rds
or wait is it rcn
I forget exactly
but it’s the number thing associated to your name that shows if you qualify as in or out of state
hmm but I have like a rcn
Does it say you’re in state
Yeah I’m considered in state
Then you should be fine
Hopefully we get in
How do u like UNC btw
yess otherwise I have to apply to more safeties/targets 😭😭
Are u into like the frat and drinking culture
A bit yeah
If I get rejected from chapel and Yale EA’s I’m gonna rope lol
I’m not too much into that so I’m wondering how I’ll fit in
trust there’s other good ones too
You’ll be fine
Many of my friends don’t do it as much
But some do party alot
I’ll say depending on major it varies a lot tho
when I toured campus it just felt like one big circle
it might’ve just been because I went once but do you like it?
it’s definitely a smaller campus in terms of size
But I personally feel like it’s nice
I can get anywhere on campus under 30 minutes walking regardless of where I am
Word
I will say tho housing is annoying here
omg my friend literally lives in an attic
Off campus gets pricy and dorms are limited
point in case lol
fr like wdym now I might have to write honors supps for nc state and worry about my other decisions
oh that’s nice
Fuckkkkk NC state ngl, I just took them off my list
😭😭
This is nice cause unc is a beautiful campus imo
Lots of greenery and older style buildings
bro might dad might literally make me go to unc charlotte for the tuition
not as nice as Duke but still nice
isn’t tuition similar
so nc state is better
Like I mean if I get rejected from chapel hill and nc state
ah
but get into better schools oos
I got into Charlotte but I got rejected from Levine program
Ngl depends really on how much better the oos school is
Yea^^
Duke dining hall clearssss
yeah that’s fair
Dukes campus as a whole clears ngl
oh congratss I still haven’t gotten anything
not a huge fan of the overall student body tho
it’s weirdly elitist
which I guess makes sense given the average demographic there
(Not saying all the Duke ppl are bad but just something I’ve noticed a lot lol)
Yeaa, I’m applying rd
Dw you’ll get in lol, it has a 80% ar
yeah same
That’s what my parents said
But man that dining hall
Yeah ive visited Duke a few times every single time I’ve been there one of the first questions I’ve gotten has been “did you not get in here”
I hear you lmao
yeah it’s my only safety so if I don’t yikes
expensive school but you def get what you pay for
isn’t there smtg like if you’re under 150k tuition is free?
Yeah there is
for nc and sc residents
although a majority of the students are generally over that
fair enough
yess like 10 more days
Oh wow that’s soon
good luck
btw
For nc state if you applied to goodnight or park you should be able to see your decision
idk if it’s still a thing but when I applied they let me log into student portal and see my stuff
ofc doesn’t mean anything if it’s empty
10 days baby
thank youu
manifesting 🤞🤞
Yeah
One of my roommates was still bitter she got rejected from Duke as a junior even tho she had an internship with a state rep
Guess legacy didnt carry
That’s crazyyyy
Ngl I was too when I didn’t get in
You can but I'd prefer for you to ask here so it can help other people
It's not prevalent you can hang around with like minded people who also don't do that
Thank you :>
Yay
me
bruh
my video
got interupted
cuz of a fucking spam call
💔
I got my question answered with the duke robertson people
best of luck!!
That’s horrid 😭😭 Did they let u retake?
yea but i feel like there not gonna consider me
what were ur 2 questions
I don’t even remember, I felt like I was yapping nonsense and fumbled but the past is in the past
when in state ea decision date
by 20th
lol
Interviews dont play as big of a role in admissions as you think
The CDS says its not considered as part of your app
W weren’t talking abt chapel
I didn’t even know chapel did interviews
Honestly idk
is anyone not scared abt chapel?
i feel like ur an auto admit if u have communti service, decenet EC's, 1400+ SAT, straigt A's in a rigorous courses, and few leadership position in clubs
and ur not from wake county
i got all of that except straight A's and leadership position
and im from cabarrus county
Is that rural?
i'm oos :c
Wake & Meck are tough
I’m in neck💔
I swear last year bums got in from meck ea
Meck
Ok yeah it’s still 1 in 3
I think applying early makes a HUGE difference though
Agreed
I was from Wake and my counselor told us if we wanted a chance at UNC to apply early lol
I dont know how true it is for other schools but it was basically ingrained in me to apply EA where ever possible
For other schools it’s important but at UNC it’s crucial
Same
Im in a rural area im a bit worried cause I just got deffered from clemson
I also didnt submit scores but im retaking the act
Are u in state NC?
Clemson defers everyone oos ea
Oh
😓
They should be like unc and have release dates for instate residents and then oos
Ya
How do u feel abt the 20th?
Pretty chill I hope I get in. I just dont want to be overconfident
What about you
Wake is a mixed bag imo
there are ways to guarantee getting in (mainly class rank wise) but hard for sure
Word
I have a 98th percentile sat for NC and straight A’s in the IBDP with a lot of community service and club leadership so I’d be suprised if I got rejected tbh
Is this ego though?
From my understanding they admit everyone competitive in state in the early action round
Yeah but the ur going up against some of the craziest talent from the south
I’m pretty sure the triangle is the most competitive region west of the Mississippi and south of D.C
its mostly suburban i think
its right above meck county
oh gotchu
union county is now starting to become as competitive as mecklenburg
any1 know when ea is gonna come out for in state 😛
ive een wondering this
if i dont get in i might actually shoot myself likeee
ive heard speculation that its tomorrow
TOMORROW...
do u know what time they sent it out last year
i remember saying ts last year
stop cuz its my target in state
its ok you will get in 🙏
thats very sweet ty
4:00 pm
but once again its unprecedented
was hoping it was today but they didnt release :(
i saw a lot of people say it usually comes out the friday before so i thought it was today
I’ve heard some chatter about it being this wknd
was it on reddit
It’s slated for next Saturday
No in my own school
says who
It’s been on their website for months
In state EA decisions come back on the 20th of December
unc typically does fridays
True, last year I remeber it was on the Friday afternoon
this whole thing happened with the michigan kids today too
they all swore itd be today
Cuz of that stupid cube lmfao
and some redditor said georgetown would be sunday 6pm and it was today
apparently the cube does have merit but only on the admissions page which this was not on
The ppl at my school have serious connections with Carolina’s undergraduate office
ive never looked much into cube tho
in what way
Everyone’s just super connected
everybody says that icl
😭😭🤣
there was a kid who begged us to change mihcigan to today bc "my friend's dad works in the admissions office"
That’s so bored😭😭😭😭
Son I’m crine
isnt it dec 20
yes but it usually comes out earlier
By Dec 20
Not necessarily on
Unlikely to be on bc it’s a Saturday
I’ve heard that AOs enjoy Friday afternoon decisions bc the weekend comes after and they don’t work weekends so when a parent tries to angrily call abt their child’s rejection nobody can pick up the phone!
Oh
I wonder how many parents actually do that lmao
I expect the 19th yes
🤣
Hopefully it drops Monday
Helicopter parents exist
Probably most likely
Last year they put out an ig and tiktok post a day before the decisions came out iirc
yeaa
Can they please release decisions before Yale lol
I thought jt was dec 20th
Whats ibdp
Ib diploma program
y r we mutuals where do i know u from??
Ncssm??
Thats the other server ur in
OH
Lol
so not today?
Lmao did u go there
I want them to droppppp
maybe its best if they dont drop yet for my sake 😞😞
online but i stayed in the dorms one summer 😰
if it does happen its gonna be at 4:00
Is there a chance they drop today?
guess we wont know until 4!
im curious why do yall think it might drop today?
.
yea thats that im wondering too
How was that?
Its not till next saturday
I do wonder why people speculated today
lets js say when i moved into my gt dorm in august i was shocked at how clean the room was 💀
after my experience with the ncssm dorm
frfr
i was doing research at nc state so i wasnt in the dorm most of the day
but the one day i stayed inside for a full day i got dramatically sick
😭
Chapel out!!?
did you get it?
Did u?
i got nada
True ig it’s skewed coming from me since I viewed it similarly (I applied with no safeties and was fairly confident abt getting in)
I don’t think it’s particularly bad to be confident abt getting in based on your situation imo
I think wake + ssm might account to close to 20% of the freshman class ngl
Yea def recommend air purifiers for unc ppl
esp if sensitive
Craziest talent in the south going to a different rdu school 😛
idk ik some pretty crazy ppl at unc and some pretty mid Duke students
I prob know the Duke heads you know
oh wait where do you go
Duke
how do you like it so far!!!
Ngl I like it a lot
thats great to hear!!! i have freshman friends who love it too
tbh ive never heard of anyone disliking unc, but maybe thats just bias hahaaha
GTHC
It is a nice school tho ngl
yea there’s the rivalries but imo not many people actually hate it
had to google what this was lol not a nc native
It’s a state and duke thing
I’m p sure
We been on Carolina hate
that I’ve seen lol
they’re all great schools tho
(although I will admit Duke is way nicer to be at)
their dining hall and stuff is pretty nice
basically just the differences you’d expect between a public and private school
those music rooms make me jealous tho 😭
Biddle is goated
would also ruin some kids' weekend
especially for instate folks 😭
Well they usually do Fridays
Yeah
I think the only ppl I've seen hate UNC genuinely, are upset over really petty things that aren't UNC specific (like registration sucking/not getting exactly what they want dorm-wise or class-wise, or not ending up at the school they think they "deserve" to be at)
UNC isn't flawless (nowhere is) but I think it's a fantastic place to be and I'll never regret my 4 years there :D
why is in state and out of state ea different days 😔
super excited!:)
Damn bruh😭😭
what are the main factors that determine whether someone gets admitted to the honors college at unc?
like, what are they looking for mainly?
as a duke student i will say UNC is a fantatic school and i would strong reccomend that students go there
it has absolutely fantastic professors and very strong academic departments, i think the size of the university gives it a lot of research strength since they have resources that a lot of smaller but richer schools like duke don't have, UNC press is pretty well known overall and the # of professors means theres a higher diversity in content taught + more opportunities for research with professors, athletics are very good and school spirit is super strong, plus the alumni network is insane, i'm pretty sure theres a tar-heel cafe in washington dc just for unc alumni and students
LMFAOO
And I heard they have roaches in there too
Fr
