like everything, it depends. there are some people, definitely more outside of Gainesville, in Alachua County who will probably be racist but I wouldn’t say it’s likely to be super dangerous. is the personal statement a major factor in my decision? i applied EA as intl applicant (rough). the other parts of my app (grades, ECs, supps) were pretty good especially the honors supp i think i cooked that one. but i had to change my personal statement for RD and this one i feel like is quite an improvement from the ED/EA one, but thats too late for those ED/EA schools. ive been rejected from tufts ed and deferred from cwru (which im coping as yield protection) so there's nothing to show yet. the one saving grace (idk if this is true tho) is that public schools dont care as much about the essays as private schools, and prioritize grades and academics more. plus UF is not that selective for a t30 school (still selective ik but not ivy and stuff)

because the city stuff is basically the same

FSU campus is a bit farther from downtown/more in its own bubble and is much more walkable/compact
