They must do yield protection cuz it doesn’t make sense but I don’t really mind
XD
they also got 115k applications 😭
how cracked were u?
how do i even get waitlisted bruh
icl it feels like they ain’t even read my applications like my entire gc of 7 people got waitlisted
Like how bro
^^^^^
One of my boys got in penn lsm
too and he got waitlisted
guys
guys i got yield protected (this is cope)
They could actually read apps if they were reasonable people and made them due in January
Also like for me I applied ed got defered twice and they still waitlisted me
Like js make a decision bro
did he have any hooks
did aynone with no hooks oos ross get it
@grand pulsar

but is it not looking good for oos
ross
Bud, just open it when u get a time
Dw u will get in
umich broke my rejection streak 🙂 sadly wl 🙁
Okay maybe I’m not cracked, but I got into cmu and jhu and waitlisted for half the ivies. So maybe at least I’m qualified to be on umich waitlist, right?
oh then that makes sense
this is diabolical
fair
idk if eveertone opened up umich
and also umich had 3 waves so far
while pricneton had 2
like its a huge differece
my dad went to michigan and i dont think hell ever forgive me
oos
yea i did the ross business academy and i had research under a prof
i’ll dm u
k ty
WAITLISTED
DEFERRED
THEN DEFERRED AGAIN
AND WAITLISTED
OMG
UMICH BRO JUST LET ME IN WTF
Cracked full pay OOS, in at 2 ivy =>WL
i would have killed to be waitlisted here
9% WAITLISTED
umich is geeked lowkey
bro u don’t need umich 😭
they could have just rejected me in december and i would have done ED2 somewhere with a full pay boost and been happy, instead im just miserable
Agreed - just reporting to show they are yield protecting
bro is ross cooked for oos
def
Of course not.
i might eat my pencil
THANK YOU KING
Well this is my last rejection ig
CAN SOMEONE REJECT THEIR APPLICATION
what is the ross oos acceptance rae
this school is nuts bro my friend goes adn it is genuinely freezing every day
How could you enjoy that
i like the cold
aight bro
did u apply ross
holy ap stats ptsd chillout
i will
I'm praying for you all
gl
does waitlist just = rejection?
check common data set numbers
No, you still have a chance of getting off
A few who get accepted to umich also get accepted to ivies
my dawg got in off the wl
yeah umich yield manages well but their yield is always unpredictable
i guess there is hope
last year 9% was admitted off waitlist
wl! Coe ed applicant
guys what is portal astro?
what does that mean?
does that mean you get to know your decision early?
dont believe in portal astro but its basically like predicting or like some indications in your portal that you got in
and portal can not at all influence your original decisions right?
i feel like they waitlisted almost everyone this year
wdym
portal astro is before the decision comes out
yea i know that
man i got waitlisted
@pale mulch you got in?
gotchu
someone should do an in-state and OOS separate poll
this is so cooked
They just be waitlisting everyone😭
i love how mich is playing games in deferrals and waitlisting
wl :(
defer ed -----> defer ea -----> wl rd
guys how is waitlist movement like for umich, especially for coe?
Waitlited bru
We lwk do not care tho
💀
ts school gets outranked by la and berk
Congrats to eveyrone who got in 🎉
did all this deferral mostly happen to OOS
yes bro
in state is like 167% acceptance
💀
I’m in state test optional, got in today, applied ED
were your stats pretty good
3.92 uw, 10 aps total, 2 leadership positions, research, shadowing, volunteering, a lot of passion community service, Hosa awards
nice, which school
LSA
nice
Damn
Yk
Maybe yall can just apply to transfer
It’s Michigan’s way of telling yall to save money or something
nah take my money just let me in idc
you got wl right
yeah
ok that's a lot of people that got off
waitlisted woohoo
0/16 🔥🔥🔥
what a great year
does umich waitlist also preferr instate or is that at least not liekb asied
Did u get in fellow simp
yes! did you
I got waitlisted and I’ll take it cuz I’ve been rejected from every other reach 😌 js wanted to tell someone
nooooo
Same
yo is michigan waitlist biased towards in state
I think its biased towards in-state always
I just learned for the first time one of my not so distant relatives is a UMich professor 😭
What the hell happened in 2022
YES!!
well i got in a while back since my major got decisions early
ARE U COMMITING
im scared
Bros going there for PhD 💀
tf are you doing here
no unc
Ok PhD student
@radiant laurel did you get full ride? michigan simp #2
i hope you get in!!!!
ts is what everyone said abt my decisions and i got in p much nowhere
so yo 45k masters stipend?
mhm
miyu! have confidence!
tyty :(
Bad picture cuz I snapped this at work but this person had like 5 UMichigan bumper stickers and a Wolverines license plate frame
We're in Arizona 😭
i got waitlisted, when do waitlist results usually release and what are the chances
.
I’m oos I didn’t get any scholarships yet
Perhaps merit aid since I’m SMTD
But 86k per year
Hahaha
My fellow simp I hope I get money
this is acc super funny bc i dmed them about ucd astro.....and kept on asking whether they had the same pages as i did with screenshots of them
BUT i am now completely changed and renewed and will NO LONGER do portal astro!
whenever somebody tries it in front of me, i will get as angry as the UCSD admission office 😡
e
just got into umich engineering as intl
i couldn't choose between umich engineering and UCLA math of computation
i know umich engineering is good but the weather's too cold
can anyone provide some suggestions plz 🙏🏻
Honestly those are two amazing options! anddd those are two very different experiences, so it’s less about “which is better” and more about fit I’d lean away from University of Michigan if you’re already worried about the weather (it sounds minor but 4 years of long winters can genuinely wear on you-- you can ask ppl who've never been to mich lol) Michigan engineering is amazing, but it’s also pretty intense (as engineering is)
UCLA gives you way better day-to-day quality of life + a flexible math/CS path, and you can still end up in very similar careers if that's where you want to go! I also heard switching majors at UCLA is feasible
Honestly comes down to whether you value the structured engineering route or overall lifestyle/"fit" more
When does scholarships come out
lsa ones r sent by april 17, not sure abt others tho
Does Michigan weigh financials as a big factor for admission
I’m just curious cuz I got flat out rejected by Michigan but got into better schools 💀
are you instate
Nope OOS
I had some other friends and classmates get into UMich over me and I’m just a bit confused 😂
it’s fine tho I have other good options admissions js seems super random at times, idk
ts gotta be yield protection
damn
i dont think umich yield protects, theyre just a state college that favors state students
and their rd is super competitive from all the ea deferrals so they might prioritize thoes deferrals over people originally from rd
they dont take locis right
it’s also fit
there’s a strong chance she wouldn’t have fit in with a majority of umich students + campus
i js got str8 up rejected lol
i mean ross is rly hard esp for rd oos
probs around 5% or less
considering overall last year was 7%
yeah. but u got uchicago which is rlly good!
There's no way this is true 😭 who are these hundreds of thousands of people
i swear the only ppl with ECs and stuff like this are those that think about college admissions for like 4 years
which isnt going to be a lot of ppl lol
Less people are even accepted into t20 schools per year than she's saying have these stats lmao
i did nothing like this
so... n=1
listen.... if you've done stiuff like founded a global network for 110,000 people
you will succeed wherever you go
0.02% of every senior in America is 800 people lmao
you need college less than college needs you
Like the math ain't mathing
this person is probably lying bro
Probably
She might just secretly be evil cuz that's the only explanation
Or yield protection
blud casually saying everyone who applied to t30s is better than that....
Yeah.....
thanks sooo much
in terms of intern opportunities or finding jobs?
"We will not accept any additional documents from you unless specifically requested, as they will not impact your final decision." does this mean that I shouldn't do a LOCI for waitlist?
Which engineering are you doing? Also what’s your COA for both of them
I wanna do computer engineering at UMich but am also afraid that it would be competitive to get in (cuz it’s first year engineering in freshman year)
If I were to study at UCLA Math of Computation, I would prolly switch major to CompE
And my parents don’t care about tuition that much they let me choose
For computer engineering, both programs are heavily grade inflated imo, but umich culture is less competitive than UCLA. However, UCLA much better at RF, but Umich clears in embedded/IC/robotics
When it comes to location, if money isn’t an issue. LA is much better
@frank compass you should visit both campuses and see which one vibes with you better
Also what field are you doing within CpE
Also when it comes to company connection wise, you’re looking at a lot of IC/robotics companies for umich
For ucla, its majority defense
software engineering and more of AI
got it 👌🏻
i would have to fly an 20 hour airplane to umich lol
besides environment i guess im only worried about interns and jobs and how strong is their software program
Ok I would not pick UCLA for AI. What are your other options
Computer Science Rankings
This is what I would use to see how good their research is
It’s mainly defense in UCLA
But UCLA isn’t known for AI
UCSD and Berkeley is way better by a mile
oh did umich RD come out?
came out on friday
usc uiuc vandy washU
oh damn
yeah it was unexpected
oh shit i would go to UIUC
UIUC is one of the best for AI
academics wise
but i don't like the place 🥲 went there before
USC and UCLA are both really nice schools, but they're not known for AI/software

im not sure about ucla for quant.
i dont even think ucla is a target/ranked for quant
😭
CMU is god tier for quant
😭
i got wl from cmu too lol...
but when it comes to ucla, i dont think ive heard people doing quant there
i dont even think california is even that good for quant outside of berkeley and stanford
im looking at ranking rn
i see
it's engineering first year
no umich is undeclared for the first year of engineering for all students
ah i see
yeah in terms of academics umich > ucla
LA has a better city life imo, and weather
highkey im living in LA for undergrad
uh
i wanna get out
:D
but it's mainly COL and people i don't like
which is subjective
tbh as international COA for umich is more expensive than ucla
it would be so nice right :D
oh yeah i can see that
for me, umich would have better aid than ucla
ahhh i see :0
does umich take locis?
i have to write mine but i didnt see them saying not to write one in the waitlist faq section on their website
yes
its on the application im pretty sure
actually thats just for deferrals idk for waitlist im sorry
so like if im certain that im taking Computer Engineering at Umich after First-Year Engineering, do I needa pass through any selections or am I free to choose any engineering major (like CompE)
cuz im afraid that i wouldn't be able to take CompE after First-Year
When do ppl usually get off waitlist
No
aw shit
😭 thank tho
im also trying to find out where to write a loci
it keeps saying to do it in the enrollment connect
when you accepted your place on the waitlist
but idk at this point
Thought you loved so many people in LA
Have like 50+ friends there fr fr
Sure
any bursley advice
same 😭😭😭😭
NOOOOOOOOOO
if you get it, switch out

that's my advice
basically, if you want to be with engineers 24/7 and want to live in peace/quiet, then it's for you
might be a pain in the ass if you want to get your GEs out of the way and all your classes is on central
I’m Music tho…
It’s practically next to smtd
I lowkey gotta live with it
How bad is it during winter? I stayed there during summer briefly
It’s random selection
So like
You don’t have to live next to the building
You can live in central campus and just commute to the music building for practice/claszes
I’m in the same situation as you
I was there in the summer for 10 weeks and 3 days in March
Honestly 25 degrees in umich felt like 50 degrees in LA
They exaggerated how cold it would be
I was playing football in the big house at 25F when it was snowing
And I had a t shirt on
winter was really mild in michigan this year after like january
Global warming 😔
how likely is it to get off of waitlist for engineering
Do you think I can safely bet on them using the leadership essay again so I can start working on it now
I see
how cold does it usually get
I mean but you're moving and sweating so ofc its not very cold
buttttt its not very convient... smtd is like a 3 minute walk from burs
I think the temperature is similar to Boston, but Michigan is definitely a bit colder...
I am also from LA before I moved to Boston. My best advice is to get a winter puffer, a pair of winter boots, a scarf to keep your neck warm, and gloves when you have to walk in <15F weather
I did survive the nor'easter with those (And wore my lab safety google because when snow + high wind = hits eye, it hurts like hell and your visibility will be rekt)
AM I COOKED MICH TOOK A ENGINEERING PERSON FROM MY SCHOOL
the only difference is that im a intl and shes not
(i was put on the wl btw)
that explains it
how likely is it to get off waitlist for lsa
its prob the same 4 all majors

damn bro 😭
same here
yall know when umich usually drops waitlist decisions
april to end of june i heard it comes in waves
but it'll definitely start increasing post may 1st
ah i see
wait is there any way to improve chances (I already filled out EoCI way before RD decision release)
same 😭😭😭
😭😭
Should I send a short message to my admissions officer or wha
anyone?
I got 10k from Umich!!
fireee
yo i really need aid from umich.
lets play a game
im waiting on my aid for michigan. guess how much ill get. if i get full aid i will go here lol. i have 93k from bu and im considering the two schools. where should i go?
93k from bu is an almost full tuition package or full tuition (im not sure how much bu costs but ik it's 90k+)
if you get an almost full tuition scholarship from umich then research both unis in depth see what's best for you & what you want to do in the future and pick it
93k from bu is insane tho
congrats!
are you from Michigan?
and is 93k from BU per year or over 4 years?
No, I’m from Boston area
iirc michigan only gives generous aid to in-state students
Per year, im only paying 5k
i mean
I’m aware
5k a year for a uni as good as BU
is an incredible opportunity to have
especially if you want to go on to some kind of grad school
They litterally want me there. Admissions office called me ahead of time. I don’t want to go to graf school lol
son
i mean graduating debtless is good anyways
gives you a lot of flexibility
Is anyone here more familiar with what the IBE program at UMich entails or more specifically for Ross + CS IBE students cuz I can’t find much online
you can always appeal your aid tho
i appealed and they gave me 30k in grant
that's great! congratss
do you mind if i dm you about your aid appeal? i'm also planning to appeal if i get off the waitlist
are you in state?
yea sure
no, oos
could i dm about the appeal process too? im oos as well and am planning on appealing
damn share method pls
Does umich do getting off waitlist off ranks or is it like they reevaluate u or like what is it based of im confused
Also what r my chances of getting off..
i would say that when i first called the UM office regarding appeals they asked me if i fell under couple specific circumstances and that they would only really consider an appeal if u did. idk how applicable it would be to most students but luckily it did for me so yea
sure!
for anyone else interested if they meet the scenarios to appeal, directly from UM finaid
Does visiting campus and speaking to the admissions office as an international student make a difference in getting off the waitlist?
Let me off the waitlist
attempting to physically contact the admissions office can come off as weird, even if you're not being malicious. Could you instead see if you could, idk... talk to the international AO that handles your region of the world? Like beforehand? Even that might not be too useful.
I'd ask this Q in #🌻-app-questions especially, in case you want help from the college counselors on here who will have much better advice for this than we will
late but is this the 33x33 in ur pfp 🔥
I don't actually remember
I set that pfp a few years ago so
kept it since
LOOKING GOOD LOOKING GOOD
this is why umich is the #1 public university
please umich i hate uconn umich please please please please please
its ok if umich rejected me....as long as they beat uconn!
CONGRATS ON UDUB
THANK YOUUU
WHERE ARE YOU GOING??
OH RIGHT YOU THE ULTIMATE UMICH FAN
PROBABLY UW MADISON
YEAH but i got waitlisted 💔
YAYY UW MADISON IS A GREAT SCHOOL
WE CAN BE UW SEATTLE AND UW MADISON TOGETHER
i js know youll cook on that loci!!! you might have a better chance too if youre in state and easier major
ik lots of ppl here got in but arent going due to oos cost so youve got a solid chance!
Wait I’m confused does umich accept locis or no and if yes where do I submit
Cuz I thought they said they ARNT accepting aditiona docs but then PEPLE r saying I need loci
there's no loci submission portal
💔💔💔
i mean lowkey i need 20k ish to be able to attend umich so 💀
go badgers & huskies 😈🔥
HELL YEAH
my ex best friend js committed to uofwa
lol
is ts worth it for ouut of state?
LOCK IN UMICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tbh no, ik a lot of ppl in my school who turned it down cuz of oos fee
michigan isnt the best state for opportunity
strong school poor location
dang rip 😭
its ok i promise the rest of the huskies got the badgers and wolverines
if umich wins this there's no shot i get off the waitlist
LMFAOOOOOO
YESSSS UMICH IS UP
IF THEY WIN THE AOS WILL BE IN A GOOD MOOD AND LET EVERYONE OFF THE WAITLIST
bc duke lost and took it out on us thro rejections
cmon mich
noo if they win then more ppl will commit and less people will get off waitlist 💔
that's kinda why i wouldn't hv minded a rejection bc uw madison is just as good for my major
anyone get an acceptance package
Can someone let me into the admitted students discord
Does anyone know if the 800 word limit for the honors college application includes the ai essay
oh it says explicitly "The word count does not include the AI-generated essay" oops
UMich RD results!

⏸️
When are waitlist accept coming out
should start around may 1 maybe
I saw somewhere just now the project waitlist movement date is april 17
So it’s recommended to submit a loci before then
Release around middle-late may
there's nowhere to submit one tho
they don't take locis
im rejecting umich for case western so hoping one of yall get the spot 🤞
wdym by waitlist movement
like offers for getting off waitlist?
wait why
yup
i saw an instagram reel of a guy who submitting a loci after waitlist from regular deicision
search up your regional admissions conselour
and you could email them directly
yeah, they start checking what they are missing and start considering pepole to fill it
should i go to umich or jhu for cs if im not 100% on cs but i imagine iwill prolly end up in cs or engineering at least
cost and jst easier for my major
jhu
i think i lean that way yea
Comment “waitlist” for the email I sent to my regional admission officers + loci on the portal
948
this is the guy i was talking about
Does it still work though
lol
Oh ok
Denied my waitlist offer godspeed warriors 🙏🏽
yeah i wrote one
chance to get off the waitlist for Ross?
i did generic
did anyone else just get this email? what does this mean?
honestly idk-
i mean their policies did say they wont accept new documents
but i did it anw
its rlly up to u gng
oh im not doing ross
im doing CoE
yeah send it
yeah
Thank you so much for the email and your continued interest in the University of Michigan! After you are placed on the admissions waitlist, we will not accept any additional documents from you unless specifically requested, as they will not impact your final decision. If space becomes available to admit students from the waitlist, we will consider our initial evaluations as we select candidates for admission. Once we get a clear picture of how many admitted students fail to meet the enrollment deposit deadline, we'll know how many waitlisted applicants to whom we'll offer admission. In a typical year, waitlisted applicants are notified of their final admissions decision by mid-June. Learn more on our Waitlisted Applicants FAQ webpage.
Since we do not typically admit students from the waitlist until mid-June, we encourage you to make enrollment plans at another college or university in case space does not become available in our incoming class. Please keep in mind that if we do not have space to admit you this year as a first-year student, we will welcome your application in the future as a transfer applicant. More information about transferring to the University of Michigan can be found online. We wish you all the best in your future educational endeavors.
Thank you and Go Blue!!!
Office of Undergraduate Admissions Call Center
thats what i got when sending it via email
to admissions office
:))) idk

yea they prolly will
worth a shot regardless
same but honestly at this point
i get off wl school with good aid
gng im doing CoE
im just as cooked
and my other wl schools are unc chapel hill, rice, cornell
apparently it wasn’t too bad and only rlly damaged yost and neighborhoods around it
yeah but well, cant celebrate yet :((
Umich waitlist supposed to roll out today
mostly in state maybe
thats weird
I saw it being announced somewhere but idk exactly when it comes out 😭
Hard time choosing between umich and ucla engineering 😭
can anyone provide any suggestions? 🙏🏻
are u in state for either?
intl so cost is not a factor
UCLA has much better weather and food but michigan might be stronger in engineering
that's the concern 😭😭😭
I wanna know if michigan's engineering is like MUCH BETTER than ucla or not
which engineering are you?
CompE
it's probably not much better so it really comes down to where u want to live for the next 4 years
I see
i'd say school culture/spirit will be stronger at mich, but ucla will still have tons of school pride
umich is a top ranked public school (and top ranked school in general) but so is ucla- a degree from either will open the door to opportunities. it's a difference of like #1 public school vs #2 public school. both schools have really strong engineering programs.
UCLA is in a much better location geographically- it's on a coast so that might be better for flights home depending on where ur from + weather in california is almost always beautiful
Ann Arbor will have more of a "college town" experience that revolves around the school- but it is cold as hell in michigan.
if you care about athletics- michigan just won the men's national championship in basketball, and ucla won the women's national championship in basketball. I believe michigan also won the football championship quite recently?
both schools will be similar in cost, but consider that california will be considerably more expensive to live in
i don't know anything about the courseload/program of study at either - it might be helpful to see if one school requires you to take a bunch of geneds or if a school has classes you like better
regardless, there is not really a wrong choice here - you will have a great time at either and be set up for success. figure out the day-to-day things you care about the most and see which school you like better. best of luck!
(this is from an outsiders perspective i didnt get into either of these schools 😭)
okkkkk thanks so much 🥹
If u look at purely at rankings. Short answer is no. Both are around 10-15 overall in engineering, and around top 10 in comp e. Basically no difference at all. Do consider if ucla is a better location in terms of internship and opportunities(didn’t do deep research into this), and whether u are doing graduate comp e(which I would say internship does not have that much waiting in ur decision), and ur personal preference(if it is a strong feeling, go with the one u prefer because you might not study well in an environment u hate)
Just some of the types of analysis I did when choosing my engineering schools too
I see. honestly the problem is that I was admitted to Math of Computation major for UCLA not CompE
UCLA can switch majors it's just that I need to maintain 3.7 GPA to switch to Computer Engineering which would prolly be risky 😭
If u must switch majors and it’s really important for u, then go mich if they don’t got a req(I doubt it)
ok thx
umich gave me no money lol, bu it is
switch
wait what does that mean
in 4y?
30k a year
merit?
Umich waitlist pls keep moving bro
declining my offer 🙏
wishing you the best
yes
any upperclassmen has any advice on housing for incoming soph transfer?
anyone know if theres any updates with umich for COE
Got of out of waitlist. LSA
🎉
