Lets say you're applying mechanical engineering and had B's in AP calc AB and phsyics 1. GT might defer you because of those grades if the rest of the early pool has great grades in those courses (the admitted group)

If you manage to get an A in AP Calc BC and AP Physics C in senior year, GT likes that a lot and thats what theyre looking for

However if you got deferred with a 4.0 UW with really high rigor

keeping good grades doesnt meaningfully improve your odds

However either way, grades arent enough. You need to have some "wow!" factor on your DSF to have a meaningful chance of acceptance

The people who are focusing on schools as quant feeders are some of the people least likely to actually make it tbh

Yes GT is a feeder but the people actually making quant aren't basing their entire lives around it

As far as 3 goes, here's what I would say

Take this summer off, for the love of god

If you end up doing a summer term at GT because of LLC that's fine

But don't go doing some research seminar thing or something

Take a vacation, enjoy some time with your friends

When you show up to GT in the fall, I'd recommend trying to spend as little time in your dorm room as possible. Go outside and interact with people. Class wise, use the resources GT provides to you. This school is by no means easy, but there's a million resources to help especially with your first year courses

GT offers a million kinds of tutoring, professors have office hours, there's group study sessions, etc

Oh also

Actually go to class

Unless your professor is bad then watch online lectures or go to a different profs class if you can
