And then making a weak effort to tie how much they want to be in an area where they can see Broadway shows and all the popular stuff to Columbia

If you’re writing about something where Columbia could not be replaced with nyu or Fordham or any other nyc school then I think it’s fine

I would assume that’s the main gripe colleges have with those essays is that nyc is big and there’s no reason the student has to go to their particular school vs another nyc one if they so badly want to be in the city

spoons is the main disability club on campus but they don't have much of an online presence

they have a website/sign up but you can only access it when you are logged into columbia rup

here's what the website says: Join Spoons, a disability justice discussion and solidarity group. During weekly meetings (each an hour and fifteen minutes in length), students gather to discuss current events impacting disabled communities, support one another in navigating campus life, build friendship and community, and consider strategies for challenging ableism on campus. The group is convened by Multicultural Affairs but led foremost by the interests of student participants.

Spoons welcomes both disabled students who are seeking community and open dialogue about their experiences, and nondisabled students who are working to enact genuine allyship.
