#Northeastern University (NEU) (2025-2026)

Even I didn’t
stupid asset confirmation
if anyone here has been deferred in past years did you get in in RD?
I did the early financial aid read thing maybe that’s why
they could've had me fill that out a while ago yknow, while they decided to only let me fill it out after admittance is dumb af
U got in for London scholars as well right ?
I did that too but they didn't ask for an asset confirmation from me until now
Yeah
That’s wsird
U planning to go?
Weird
Not after seeing the coa
102k and I got a 5k scholarship so 97k
Ur international?
Nah I’m from nj
Oh
Can i ask how ur course rigor was in hs …
97k per year ?
OMG I MEMORIZED MY SSN FINALLY 🤩
Wtf
WHATA
For international then how much?
I can now login to idoc without having to find my ssn or id 😭
Ainnoway I’m going
ok maybe i shouldnt complain
I’m being dead serious too 😭
😭😭😭
But we don’t qualify for any need based
london is more expensive
As an international student
Holy moly
coa is the same for everyone and then they subtract whatever scholarship you get from it
so, COA at boston is like 94k iirc
8 APs I think rest honors. Regardless of HS rigor you will get overwhelmed at a certain point it’s fate lol
minus whatever your scholarship is would be your personal coa
I heard for international it’s higher ?
probably yes
97k is crazy ngl
as long as you have above a 1.8 GPA and take enough credits
I did nyu ed2 and even that isn’t this expensive
Wait can i ask which campus this is?
wait 97k is insane
First year London
😭😭😭
I thought NYU was like 96k coa?
I didn't know it was that high
I put commuter so I save like 25k cuz I live 30 mins away lmao
Ah that is true lol
ohhhhhhhhhh
3 t stops on campus roughly
ok well no wonder it's cheaper for you 😭
Even if I put housing for nyu it’s still less than 97k
My nyu npc said 90k for stern
wait this is what i found
That’s still expensive but it’s less than neu
Lmk if u have other questions
oh that's minus financial aid and scholarship no?
that’s actually insane
Yeah
If I put housing that’s what mine would’ve been
not including personal expenses, textbooks, and travel. Those make it more expensive than boston
Yay! Can i dm u in the future for questions
apparently, people say because it doesn't include food and some other expenses, it winds up being like $100k
oh cooked
100k is insane
the neu thread became which school should i go to since neu is too expensive thread
and in the past, london gets the least aid from what i read
Happy to help!
NEU is stingy af
you can't even use federal money for london
they're so freaking stingy man
90k so how are they charging me 102k 😭
They’re scamming me
so pell grant is useless for london
damn
tbf pell grant doesn't cover much
i mean 7.4k ain't nothing
at most it's like $7000, it just tells the college how much they should give you
My friend got in last year for ed and he got like 20k in scholarships but idk if that’s merit or not
probs merit
if your pell grant is 7k shouldn’t you be getting a bunch of need based aid
which, idk how I didn't get max honors merit scholarship bc my rigor was through the roof
i think neu offers like 5-10k in merit max for freshmen, no?
neu mostly gives need based to boston admits
ah that sucks
very little to oakland/nyc and almost none to london/NU.in
Ooh whats the max merit scholarship
nah I got 14k and someone else got 27k
Is there a cap
no clue, all ik is that someone else on here got 27k with no financial aid and I ended up with 14k so I assume there's a range
Bruh
are you sure? rejected? not deferred?
when is ed2 coming out
i did get into NU London tho…atleast
Yes, rejected
😭 i think they know
how can you get into NEU London and still be rejected?
He probably means rejected from Boston
Oh yes
aris being completely flabbergasted someone actually got rejected instead of deferred from neu
well boston is 5% so 😭
london guarantees admission to boston after year 1
Wait this is the honors scholarship right not the grant
The ed is like 40%
yes
the way they didn’t even get rejected, they got into london 🤦♂️
Oh rlly i didnt know
overall for ea/rd is 5% ish
My friend got Oakland
my 2 friends who got in got oakland and london (which was his top)
for ea or ed?
ea
I thought I'd be kicked to london so I'm surprised I got boston
there's a 3 yr london program, but i think that's pretty rare. most are the 1 yr program, which then guarantees boston in yrs 2 and beyond as long as you don't flunk out
actually some of them might've gotten oakland but there was only one guy who got boston
maybe it's cuz I put down that I wouldn't go to oakland or anywhere else other than boston/london on the common app
and he has a 3.8 gpa so it was pretty unexpected
i think the major also matters a lot
people with worse stats than me got boston cuz of their major
Soo if i got a high enough scholarship they will unlikely give me more money 😔😔
i mean yeah it's a fine gpa
yep
but so many of the people who got other campuses had like 4.0s or near 4.0
Rip my wallet bro 💔💔💔
what was his rigor?
what majors
neu doesn't admit by major so it doesn't matter
we were all either cs or eng
i’m surprised i got boston too, i did apply ED but my gpa is like a 3.2 (i think it’s a 3.2, it’s an 82/100 in my country, they don’t do the 4.0 scale ) and got in directly to khoury for CS
the guy that got boston was cs
damn 💀
i don't really know but his ECs weren't like anything crazy
oh what 💀
was just about to say.. you can get accepted for art history and switch to engineering right now
yeah, your major doesn't affect a lot
I think he did like 12 AP classes
tbf they probs aren't gonna accept like 500 engineering majors so they might have a mild limit
but I doubt it's gonna be highly considered
it lets me change the major in the pull down menu right on the portal. lol. from what someone else told me, it just regens the acceptance letter with the new major.
that might be why
12 APs is crazy to me, at my school its standard to take 4 or 5 throughout hs
regenerating it is funny lol
I couldn’t take them until junior year 💀
well I did 14 and have a 3.97 and I didn't get in 😭
deadass aside from sport scholarships i think i might be one of the accepted students with the lowest gpa, i’m gonna be that one guy in the common data set
our school offers a lot of APs
Hn mines lower
i took 7 APs and like 20 DE's
same, and they only offered apush and comp sci
oop 💀
true
his essay must've cooked
Rural public school?
someone on reddit said they were accepted with 3.2... gonna be hard to beat that
same…
Rural public school peeps!
urban public school 5 mins from neu campus!
or around that
Damn lol
whatever an 82/100 translate to
bruh 💀
even my school offers more than that and it's rural public
our adv and honors classes are known to be extremely hard tho
maybe we were all just yield protected and he was the only one not
(coping lol)
neither
Fenway area lol? Longwood
very close yes
i’m in brazil and the only AP class my “international school” in a city with a metro over a million people had to offer was AP lang
so i did that and that’s it
I wasn't yield protected with 7 AP's and 20 DE's and a 4.0 🤩
my one bragging moment
and still mad that my scholarship wasn't higher
dang 20 DEs is crazy
bro needed at least 60k to actually go to neu
nah I need at least 40k
30k I'll consider it
what other schools have you gotten into?
those stats are pretty dang good
82% is roughly a B-
which is... a 2.7 based on my schools letter system 💀
at 30k in aid, you'll "only" be paying 70k a year. 🫠
just UMASS amherst and boston. And bridgewater but they don't count. NEU was the only reach I applied to besides UPENN
chat i got into neu with a 2.7, this is how i did it, welcome to my ted talk
I probs could've maybe gotten into BU but I didn't like the campus and their business school isn't any better than NEU's so there was no point
oh why not more reaches?
what campus?
if you got in with an 82, you must be international without grade inflation. at my hs, the avg GPA is like a 3.4
grade inflation is a massive thing
high school in brasil, american citizen so i applied domestic
I wanted to stay within mass and there's not a lot of good business schools here. NEU is actually probs the best. Harvard's is only for grad students and idk if MIT offers undergrad business but I do know they're probs not gonna be any better than NEU education wise for business
boston
my school doesnt give A+ idk if this is to combat grade inflation or no
most schools don't
oh ok
mit is one of the top ranked undegrad biz programs in the world
it just ruins the scale imo
nah, but around the area where i live, getting a 3.6-3.8 UW is super common
oh makes sense
intl school or just regular priv/public school?
i also feel like u dont need to go to a school and study business specifically to go into business if that makes sense
but i get ur point
i refuse to believe that, I feel like it's gonna be a lot more tech based too
it’s marketed as an “international school” but offers no AP classes and no IB classes and our classes are in portugues not english
wut kinda intl school is this 💀
usnews isn't a great metric for specifics but it will tell you relative prestige https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/business-overall?myCollege=business&_sort=myCollege&_sortDirection=asc
bruh
it isnt copying
did you not consider boston college at all
one sec
no, I didn't want to go to any religious schools at all. Even if it's not really religious and pretty mild
it’s so expensive
hm that's interesting
they’re horrible with aid
for personal reasons, I just really dislike the idea of going to a religious school
i want to say the average gpa at my school was around a 72%, and i was top 5 of my class of 68 with an 82% so maybe my school just had crazy grade deflation
neu is legit a really good school if you wanna do finance. esp ib or pe.
2 mfs went to harvard in the last 3 years from my school too
mit is a pretty prestigious ug biz
gen z intl school type shit
not that im trying to prove a point or anything
just saying theres more than neu
its still a great school
rj and sp has a lot of them right
can't be more expensive than neu right?
not just in mass though. Even if MIT is like the only other t20 with a business school, it's also wayyyyyyyyyyyyy out of my league
like ridiculously out of my league
my app is competitive for most t50s but it's not on a t20 level
they do but they’re actual international schools with AP or IB classes and a lot of classes in english
Hey u never know tho
i live in a smaller city
Reach for the stars 🤩🤩🤩
type shit
I applied to UPENN as my "you never know" school lol
second largest in my state, metro right above 1 million people
my analogy is, if people say to reach for the sky then NEU is my sky and UPENN is the galaxy above that I never realized existed
this is the way. 15 reach, 3 target, 2 safety. yolo!
I've been deferred from 2 of them so far
NEU was me reaching for the skies lol
i have 15 reach 11 target 1 safety
i'm too lazy for that 💀
i was gonna apply to umich but decided I didn't want to deal with the supps
I feel like with ur stats u couldve reached for the galaxy and beyond lwky 😭😭
yes
and I tried to write cornells supp but literally had no creative flow going
stats are the only bottleneck
my school is an “intl school” but has the highest grades in the national entrance exams for the country bro. we js say it’s an “intl school” for the publicity
my counsellor would've been PISSED if i did 27.. lol
i diiiiidddddd. I applied to UPENN and got rejected lol. And my academics are like the only good part of my app
the rest of my app is me complaining abt how I had no transportation so I couldn't do any extracurriculars. Which is fine but it's not gonna help me either
can u apply to american schools w the enem? sorry im just curious cuz i used to study there
should've done more rd lol
how many reaches you heard from so far?
I had a little bit of regret around this but still not much. Because if I did then I would've prolonged my committment to UMASS or NEU for another 2 months
2, Cornell and Mich, deferred both 🙁
for me, Michigan and UVA, also deferred from both
i was not getting good aid from any ivies 💀
u never know
i'ma fill out the cornell cost calculator
UVA has released?
from what i know only emory and NYU accepts enem
I applied there too
just to show you that I wasn't gonna get shit anyhow
I did ED1
ohh
also no need to be sorru tf
EA is Friday
yeah
bros family needs to make less money
my family is middle class but they saved up and bought a retirement piece of land which is now screwing me over
it's playing the lottery. just need to hit on ONE of my reaches.
WE ARE GETTING INTO GT
wait lowkey, what if people emancipated themselves before applying, could they cheese their way to need based aid
same lmao
I just need one 🙏
and it literally that singular piece of land that's screwing my financial aid. My parents income and savings alone would give me more aid
out of 15
already know I have good app/essays since I've gotten in at a bunch of places that were somewhat competitive
i tried. They make it veryyyyy difficult
I have purdue as a decent backup though
yeah purdue is such a nice school
time to put the land in a trust
and it's so nice it came so early
my next big swing (and maybe my best chance) is Emory ED2 next week
good luck 🫡
i almost cheesed my way into in state odds at GT
cuz the last place i lived in the US was atlanta
but i’ve been out of the US for a couple of year by now
bruh
this is why I didn't bother applying to other ivies 😭
zero point
are u a multimillionare
neu will have the worst aid lol
no bruh 😭
my parents make 140k collectively
probably less this year since my dad is now retired
so like 120k
yeah, it's cuz of that one piece of property my parents bought
neu is pretty widely known for pay to play
good school, excellent coop program, but it's gonna cost you
which is like $300k in value. They're expecting my parents to sell off that land just to pay for my college
that's gonna be their retirement home bruh 😭
lowkey bro, that mentality of parents letting kids go into debt for uni is insane to me
probably bc of my culture
but like, if you are making money and decide to barely or not help
that’s js weird for me
what do u think 😭
got into oakland
oh
lwk mini crashout ensued
help
i made a minute long analysis video
sorry neu simp i was wrong
could be worse
NEU is just scummy lol
you cooked if you have that mindset
lowk i think my logic makes sense
they are not representative of other colleges
depends imo
if they choose to go to an uber expensive school then that's honestly their problem
I'll pay for part of it and if they decide to go in debt for the rest then that's their choice. But yknow, I'd rather not give away my entire retirement just for my kid to go to an unnecessarily expensive school
neu mainly defers for yield's sake, maybe alt campus. but when i went to boston i visited js for demonstrated interest's sake, i.e. proving yield yet still getting assigned an alternate campus which menans the review of my stats (which are kinda cooked) and ecs + recs and caps weren't good enough
and i know my supplementals weren't outstanding enough to compensate
thus im fried
😛
i think it makes sense
i dont think visiting once makes them sure you're going to attend
One message removed from a suspended account.
i dont think its about sure to attend i think they just take all the signs they can about demonstrated interest bc they look at it precisely for yield
i was talking to an ao there
and she said visits are basically the only thing they look at for DI
i mean yeah neu just does everything differently
ofc this is just speculation on my end yeah
have you gotten other colleges
nah only safeties ea
YOU HAVEN'T RUBBED THE HUSKY
CLEARLY
One message removed from a suspended account.
One message removed from a suspended account.
I'm ngl that's another reason I'm surprised I got in
One message removed from a suspended account.
everyone was touching the stupid statue and it was disgusting af plus I wasn't a savage that was trying to shove through an entire crowd 💀
so I just like- tapped it's nose a little
i dont know how to feel I got NEU but rejected from Rice [ED2]
did u get boston
should I be happy or sad
yes
its a good school! congrats & ed2 can be very volatile at a lot of schools
i just remembered back when my sister was applying to colleges she got a full ride to neu lol
but she decided to go to yale for full tuition instead
bro what 😭
im sure you'll be fine for rd
nvm I take it back
i did all EA
i have 3 decision on 31st
mich is due in 3 days if you want to..
she was a recruited athlete that's probably important to mention
I did all EA too lmao
bro 😭
my school has a 14 limit
also I thought yale didn't give scholarships?
ohh
it was like a pact between ivies
it doesn't
my family's paying the full tuition
iirc no ivies give scholarships
erm anyway it might be time to leave the thread
only need based
would you say VTech or Northeastern for MechE
oh I thought you said full ride 😭
she should've just gone for NEU at that point
is she doing 4 years too?
pre med yeah
damn your parents must be rich or in hella debt 💀
AND SHE'S GONNA DO ANOTHER 300K FOR MED SCHOOL
YOUR SISTER IS FREAKING DUMB
we're like upper middle class
no offense 😭
yes exactly
like her med school matters 10x more
than her undergard
just go to neu
paying premium for your premed degree is the stupidest decision ever 😭
she's gonna be paying off that debt into her 80s man
I should know as someone who just got seen by a 70 year old gastroenterologist
... ok this isn't upper middle class 💀
that's high income my guy
is it not?
unless you have like 10 siblings
upper middle class is like 120-170k
anything over 200k is pretty much high income
again, unless you have a lot of dependents
oh I only have 1 sibling
bro you rich 😭
what sport does your sister do? just out of curiosity
but like we live in washington and compared to most other families here we don't make that much more
swimming
recruited athletes are always really cool to me. Cuz like wdym you're really smart and hella athletic
... I live in washington 💀
you in bellevue?
you just really like the schools there?
i don't wanna dox myself but its in one of those cities around there
boston simp over here
the tri cities are huge- you're not doxxing yourself lol
rich person in bellevue is about as vague as saying "i live in japan" 💀
idk i'm just not really comfortable sharing 💀
no wonder you think 350k is just upper middle 😭
yeah everyone here is rich af
my guy you are one of those rich ppl lol
I was on the swimming grind too until junior year
Best of luck with the rest of the colleges! You’ve got this! 🙂↕️
but I just didn't have the same resilience as my sister
ok like I know poeple making 2 mil a year
at my school 😭
I started sports pretty late so it was never in the stars for me
its a public school too
mans if I started tennis when I was in elementary school then I probs could've gone D1
I've already progressed pretty fast for someone who only started in 9th. I'm sad to think of the potential I probs had as a kid
I started swimming in 2nd grade but I'm honestly just not built for athletics
once I got to high school we were doing like practices twice a day and before school
it was too much
I have untapped potential lol
like my build is athletic
I'm just too lazy to actually do a lot of exercise and stuff
not a gym bro type person
yeah that's why I never tried in middle school
btw do you also live in western washington?
bc in middle school if I started training more, I probs could've made D1 track but I just hate running in general and I saw the effort the other kids were putting in and was like hell nah
like wdym you're paying to be tortured and go on running camps
yeah pretty much
oh so you're not applying to uw?
nope
yeah the training is pretty much torture
I don't wanna see anyone from my school
NEU or VTech or Umaryland
that's crazy you must really hate your school
For comp engineering
acceptance
my sister would wake up at 4 am to go to a 2 hr swim practice, then after school go straight to a 1.5 hr hs practice, and then at like 6 pm practice for another 3 hrs at her club
neu > career expectation
vtech > prestige>=, academics
no clue abt umaryland
nope, some are chill but most are assholes. Half my school is some type of overly religious, a quarter are red necks, 10% are absolute weirdos who have relations with 12 year olds, and the rest are a mix of popular white ppl and normal, average ppl
i'm just not built for work like that
is northeastern worth considering or
“350k/yr” “upper middle”
depends on how much ur paying for it
chill I honestly just had no idea 😭
90k annual
Oh thanks
that's pretty weird for western washington
debt or parents paying
ik the area he's in. 350k comparatively is upper middle and the living costs are so high that they practically are living the experience
i mean it depends on where you’re from tbh
everyone here is normally very liberal
double income or apple ceo parent
dad works at big tech company
mom is a homemaker
yeah ikwym
also paper rex, love to see it
YESSIR
vct?
damn 350k on one parent is crazy ur dad made it big time
only the tri cities are really liberal. The rest of the state is all conservative minus a tiny county in the southwest
yup
HELL yeah dude
i was like neu looks cool but i was hoping for umich cornell or gatech
its funny how this applies to almost every state
and then i got deferred from all 3 lmaoo
probably going to try to get on the neu varsity val team to get varsity perks
literally
💀💀
im nowhere near good enough but i'd consider it
I probs should've applied to umich, had good odds of getting in, but I can't do the cold
not that level of cold
even mass isn't that bad
i would have done ed but i did ed for cornell
apps are still open
are they?
closes feb 1
i just qualled for the closed qualifiers to challengers here in brazil
hmm i got 3 days to work on my supp and apply
okay yeah no i'm na gold peak LMAO
both my parents went to michigan though
congrats on challengers but ur a separate tier
that's what I'm saying. I can't see myself going to michigan
i believe in ur untapped pontential
i'd kill to just even guarantee umich cornell or ga tech
i started at silver
nah there aint no untapped potential
nah, idc about any university that much
well, i mean, i prolly wouldnt kill for ga tech or umich
i would kill for cornell deffo

how should i format this
i've been deferred from two of those already
and ga tech is coming on friday and I'm not too hopeful
Defer from Cornell is insane
Honestly NEU London 1yr then Boston isn’t sounding that bad. I can tour whole of Europe while I’m in London during my 18s then go to Boston and my degree will be from Boston itself.
It’s the COA that’s insane 😭
UIUC VTech Uwash UW madison
Deffered : Purdue engineering and UMich
all 4 of those are very solid
you don't really need to be stressing about neu tuition rn just wait and see where you get in
yeah
also ur cs right?
Comp eng
lmao
makes sense why you were deferred from purdue then
yeah
i really wanted it
these r all RD
yeah their program is like t5 in the country no?
yeah purdue is insane for engineering and cs and data science
r u in state for uw?
international
ohh yeah
yeah lol
im instate for uw and its my dream school
oh u have a pretty solid chance
u did rd or ea?
ea's coming in 2 days
oh I meant uwash not uw madison
good luck
uhh i don't wanna leak too much lol
but im in one of those districts aorund there
loll thank you & congrats on neu + honors
i alr predicted you'd sweep
NEU boston has 40k students and NEU london has 2.3k 💀
pls don't tell me you're abbreviating UW seattle as uwash...
committing a crime here 🥀
like ripping the wings off an angel
you could abbreviate it as udub at least 😭
you need not commit a crime against humanity
LS would be a great experience if money wasn't relevant. Can travel all over europe while there. Go clubbing in London. Would be amazing. If not for the $100k+ per year.
😂 😂 😭
yeah exactllyyy
im researching and lodon scholars doesnt sound bad at all
except the coa
but lets see ive like 10 more unis pending
seattle gets priority for UW over wisconsin cuz UW seattle is a t20 man 😭
same. neu was 12th on my list. so lots of other options would have to reject me before i start making plans for london
my whole school calls it Uwash here lmao
yep
THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF PRONOUNCING TORTILLA AS TOR-TIL-LA
udub is a loooong wait, right? I have it on my list as mid-march release date
double u = w = dub
💀
and washu refers to washington university
nah Uwash is way better
ik that
only if you plan on going to the place in st louis
no- it sounds lame asf
you are one of those ppl that thinks "tor-til-la" sounds better than tortilla
Did anyone get decision?
EA? Yeah it came out like 5 hours ago
Do you guys know what the range of scholarships are for honours college kids?
i've seen 14k and 21 k
I saw 27k
I cant believe I got in
Guys i think my academics carried hella
I'm looking at what ppl were saying on zeemee and a lot of them got nu in or no merit aid
And i think their apps are better than mine im ngl
Imposter syndrome goes brrrrr
what were ur stats
if u dont mind me asking
1480, 4.0 uw, 4.3 w, 4 years tennis, 3 years fbla (historian), like 300 hours of volunteer tutoring, and some volunteering
ty
How’d u list ur extracurriculars
Badly 💀
How do you know 😭😭
bc I had no clue what I was doing, what to write about, and I lowkey should've googled a tutorial or smth but I just never did 😭
actually I should've had chatgpt help me write it bc anything is better than what I had put down
Ok now I’m curious how it looked omg it can’t be that bad 😭
it's not great- and if you notice, the hours were horrible lol. I was not that busy
Are those all your EC’s??
pretty much
They aren’t that bad! Congrats on neu 🥰
there's another one under it but it's the least important
zero impact lmao, I put it there just to have smth there
it's pretty bad compared to otheres
I also didn't write abt my impact at all
I should've written smth like "helped 20 students in tutoring and contributed to increase grade levels"
At the end of the day, you got in so you should be proud of yourself🔥🔥
Like woah they wanted you so bad
My essay was so bad at the time I submitted
Mine was risky af. I wrote abt cannibals 💀
I heard you can see the AO and committee notes of your app if you get accepted cuz of ferpa so i am very curious to see what they've got written down
wait what? how?
ferpa is basically the act that says “u have the right to request the data that educational institutions have on u”
99.9% of ppl waived this right to submit ur rec letter to indicate to aos that u were not planning to invoke your legal right to see the letter, therefore meaning whatever ur teacher says is probably the unobstructed truth
Only for the university you commit to i think
Unfortunately
Very very curious about NEU the most
if i get into london scholars honors, is that a sign of yeild protection or that i js didnt get into regular?
is the nu in program js 1 semester abroad
yes, my friend did it and went to madrid
wait does it even matter much that ur goin to one of the satellite campuses for a year academic wise
Cause freshie year is mostly gen eds (?)
like yeah making friends and all that is a different story but academically u won’t be “behind” the Boston people
Do you get to pick or nah
Also can you just stay at one of the satellites
not really tryna go to Boston ngl
Her undergrad just outright does not matter at all
She’s gonna regret this
yes
for all but nuin
Wdym
did u get nuin? if so you pick the country depending on ur major + have to go to boston in the spring
Like if I go to say Oakland could I just stay there for 4 years or do I have to transfer back to Boston at some point
Yes I’m nuin
fuh bro I do not want to go Boston
u can stay in oak/lon for the full 4
oh the decision is final so u cant really change that
wdym
u cant switch to oakland scholars if u got admitted to nuin
no they explicitly say its a final decision
I’d assume they want less people at Boston not more
Hmm
If I spend a year at Boston could I maybe transfer out later?
As a “study abroad” type of thing
i mean technically yeah
Oh dope
but it seems like ur overcomplicating this icl
why even apply to a school headquartered in boston if u dont wanna go to school in boston
I’m ngl northeastern was a mega ultra reach for me but it’s the best I’ve gotten into
the original plan was to just be at a different campus the whole time
I mean I could deal with Boston for a little but im a Philly sports fan which does not fly at all in Boston
💀💀💀
idt many people care here
esp among other college students
sure like the average white person from southie would side eye u for not glazing our teams but
How bad do you think it would be if I was wearing, say, some sixers merch or something to an event
should I just ditch the Sixers gear if I go?
I don’t want to abandon the goats maxey and edgecombe
i think its incredibly unserious lmfao
I don’t follow baseball but I am a Knicks fan by birth
I don’t have any Knicks merch though so hopefully it’s alright
yeah ppl aren’t gonna like drunkenly beat u up in an alley for liking a different team
ppl r still patriotic ab their home teams after moving in to campus
Okay that’s good to hear
oh awesome
yes you can pick but iirc its first come first serve
where do i upload my scores??
i just changed my testing preference to use my scores but i cant find the upload scores option anywhere
oh my god do i have to do official scores
u self report
You act like they don't get students from the other 49 states lol
yes but I can’t find anywhere to upload it 💔💔
r u sure its not past the deadline to upload them
they just asked me if i wanted to change
it only showed up after i said i wanted to convert to regular decision/accepted deferral
its a form on the portal
u can change ur major in like ten seconds
ok aweosme
If you've had a co-op, could you tell me how much NEUs connections really helped you with getting it? Like do you think you could've gotten that job even if you were at another university? And did it help your career that much or not really?
Also, did the co-op actually pay well or was it basically just minimum wage
Remember when ts was 95%
do ed2 applicants need to send in the mid year?
it's actually not tbh
One time I read a schools stats that said 95% of grads were either employed or seeking employment and I have to do a double take
whats the deal with the nyc scholars program
is it like a we dont have a spot for u but ur kinda ok so ig we can bring you on?
or is it like a proper and good program
ive only heard bad things about marymount so far but idk if i've had good sources
I think it is my majors just genuinely cooked
chat, i got london scholars
is it good?
(not ragebait or humblebrag, i js don't know-)
it’s solid pun intended
it’s very expensive
it’s truly what you make of it
lmaoo
yes.
i'm going cs and i haven't found much info abt neu london cs
or js neu cs in general
so js curious fr
from personal experience, the cs profs at london are quite dogwater
it's a new program so not very developed i think you're gonna be the second year if you choose to accept but it's still an acceptance to northeastern and it's ok imo
based on what friends who are on co-op have said it's lowk a tossup but NEU connections def help yk
they're are getting paid well past min wage
in the 20s-30s hourly
damn.
yay
It’s 11th on CS rankings but who knows atp
csrankings is research output
i know but its a decent benchmark of school quality too
rank virginia tech neu casewestern
for what?
will NEU automatically consider you for a national recognition scholarship and tell you in your decision letter if you got it or do you have to ask/be admitted and find out?
wait nvm, I found out you have to email them documentation by april 9
wait but now i don't know what qualifies as documentation 😭
It’s not in decision letter
It’s in scholarship page once u get decision tho
nah I figured it out, you have to email them documentation to confirm and then they'll update your scholarship
yeah you have to submit it after you've gotten your decision lol
or you could upload it to the status check but idk where to do that
mb you can do it before the decisions come out, but either ways you have to voluntarily give it to them bc they won't ask for it
No I got it i never submitted anything
LOL
for the national recognition from college board?
Yah
hmmm strange
i think it's bc my decision had my honors scholarship instead
and probs bc they don't want my aid to stack or smth
not that I'm getting any aid
so they don't wanna give me any scholarships 😭
altho 5k still isn't a lot
ah icic I’m too much of a bum to apply honors to all my schools
i was hoping the national rec scholarship could make up for my mid honors scholarship and lack of aid but i doubt that at this point
I didn't, they automatically consider you
damn still won't be able to attend NEU even with a national rec scholarship
it's still gonna be at least 70k coa
they match with NMS
wait, so if you don't have national merit then you're just screwed?
no, is extra
correct merit doesnt stack
i'm so confused 💀
are you nms?
no
i was just letting you know that that’s another option
was literally 10 away which pmo
you can also appeal your finaid
nah, apparently NEU doesn't negotiate whatsoever
yeah tht makes sense
I can maybeeeeeee trying to negotiate my honors scholarship bc apparently that is a slight possibility but really not counting on it
a certificate
i emailed them mine and it took them lit months to do it
yeah I figured that out, the certificate just looks so incredibly unofficial that I can't believe they'd consider it as documentation 💀
and then after all that trouble they docked my aid and replaced it with the scholarship
i could make a better looking certificate
welp I'm not getting any aid anyhow 😭
bro what
basically they won't let me get more than 14k even though I reasonably could and probably should
told ya they dont stack
they're real arrogant for a school that was a commuter school only 20 years ago
nah I'm just not committing
I love the school but screw that. Talk about shitty ethics
when has ed2 released across the years
💀
Go to VT
Well what major also if ur doing a niche major I’d say VT
Did any of you receive the Stamps Scholars invitation?
I'm not sure what it is, and I'd love to hear about it, since I got an email about it!
ye
does anyone have the admit discord
i dont think u have to submit anything lol
i also got into the honors college
hi guys, im apart of the honors program here @ neu
if you have any questions
:-)
feel free to DM / @ me here
what is neu london gonna be like? and is it worth
I hear it sucks if you aren't a humanities major and that it's very expensive
I mean conditions wise
Idrc too much about london’s quality as im gonna go to Boston in a year anyways
hey! @icy harness what are the benefits of the honors program? afaik its just better housing, smaller classes, +some funds (which I'm not sure what for)?
campus is really nice and modern
dorms are also super nice asw
2 of the dorms are studio style
and the other 2 are suite style but you get your own room
wow they finally changed one of the housing options
what are chances of getting single dorm?
3 of the 4 available choices have singles
but 1 of the 3 also has the suite styles
i think on the housing pref sheet it asks if you want a studio or not
ty
Hi, some of the benefits I've found are *housing * (you're placed in East Village (EV) with your own bathroom, 3+ laundry rooms, and access to a free membership to the Y that's a 2 min walk from EV; there is honors upperclassmen housing @ WVC as well), smaller classes (I've found that the professors tend to be better as well in comparison to my peers who've taken the same w/ a different professor (in terms of the mean average for exams, etc, even with the same syallabi) and some are fair-er with grading), *funding *(first: you get 12k across all 4 years to fund abroad travel (around 6k @ your freshman yr summer! im going abroad to beligum for less than 2k including all my aid + another 6k if you decide to do another abroad program or do co-op abroad + they help with visas/passports/etc), and scholarship honors money (between 2k-10k from what ive heard))
Other benefits I'll include in 5 minutes, class js ended haha!
Once you do could you make it more lined bullet format bc then I can pin it
wait ok!
@worthy depot It won't let me do bullet points for some reason but this is lowk it.. 🙏

Some of the benefits I’ve found from the Honors Program @ Northeastern are: Housing: You are placed in East Village (EV), your first here, and the benefits include On-suite bathroom (shared between 5 people; triple and double) Free Y membership for the entire year (Includes swimming pool!) We h...
@dense egret i hope this is a lot more helpful and def easier to read thru
obvi if you have questions please lmk (esp if i missed smthing)
Something I forgot (thank you Northeastern Honors Instagram) was the honors events we have for upperclassmen and freshman! Key word here is going to be free
-
Our LLC groups (freshman hall groups) are twice the amount than the regular amount since evb lives in EV and are much more funded. My friends have gone to concerts for free, top college games (Harvard versus who knows) for free, and free food at places all around Boston! LLC groups are well funded because it's an only-honors thing and the RAs funding for events is double as well (according to the non-honors RAs I've spoken to).
-
Upperclassmen, unheard of for non-Honors, experience this too! They had a free trip to Salem because it was Halloween/Fall season lmao. So, there's stuff for you to do regardless of your year.
this is so helpful thank you so much for listing this! i'll take a really detailed look through it now
Bio! Im thinking of doing a double major with a social science like poli sci or history tho
Is it a combined major?
Think so bc I have 3+ girls doing bio w poli sci in my american gov class
But neu allows double majoring a lot easier here and you can switch pretty easily
I switched out of engineering in less than a week lowk into poli + bus admin and my advisor in enginnering helped me pick out a whole new classes and contacted the college of business on my behalf to get more of an idea of what i need (wo me asking!)
and was able to add my minor in 5 minutes
so changing and experimenting w ur major is rlly easy!
i can ask my roommate abt bio but im p sure you have to take chem
our chem 1 is a semster thing than a whole yr so its a lot more rushed and therefore, harder
so be weary of that
we have a lot of pre-med resources esp thru honors where we talk to the med kids + work w Tufts Medical Center here
my friend is doing an internship w them rn since last sem as a freshman and shes from CT
so theres a lot to do in that sense!
Oh wow I see! I'm possibly doing a double major rather than combined so I'll look a bit more into that
Would you say it's super possible to do cross-college double majors? I'm admitted to just biology in college of science, but say if i wanted to do an engineering major or a social science major, would that be possible?
Also, what's your opinion on nu and its honours right now? Do you enjoy it, etcetc
Also, how would you say the experience could be for an international student? Are there many of intl students in honours, and whether the opportunities for research and internships and jobs equally apply to them?
wait yes!
its a lot harder to do double bc thats 200+ hours so yk be like aware of that
but im in cssh + dmsb
js one is like ur main school w ur advisor
so at graduation ur not getting 2 diplomas i think idk for double majors lowk...
on my floor, we have 4+ international kids
so we have a large presence for international students
jobs and internships depend on your visa
bc theres limitations and stuff
i can ask my bf more abt that stuff bc that would be the impactor of it all
but a lot of intl kids get on campus jobs bc its in line w their visa regulations so the increase in opps for on campus jobs helps!
i LOVE my dorm even though its a triple, some of the stuff that occurs in communal bathrooms across the US is insaneeeee... so i do enjoy that! i also enjoy my classes and professors, one of them even offered me work w her phd student bc she knew my background bc of how small the class was!
another professor of mine has read a lot of my work and helped me look into publishing my own poetry + working w the writing center here bc he had time to get to know me
i can send a dorm pic of my area later so you get an idea of a triple
i also like my LLC events bc ive gotten to know my future roommates thru it and they pay for literally everything so ive had more chances to go across boston than most
oh wow this sounds absolutely amazing! i'm defo waiting for my rd offers to roll in (if i get any) and comparing it with other countries' offers before i fully commit but this is super interesting and informative thank you!
a quick last question. as far as i know northeastern's employability and its relationships are more so business/engineering/computer science/social science. How would you say the advantages of northeastern itself applies for anyone interested in doing a pure science like bio or chem? is it like an equal amount of opportunities wit research and internships and things like that?
our volunteering program, NU ACES, was able to set up a few kids @ Tufts and Boston Childrens Hospital their first sem here and im sure theres a lot more work being done there that im unaware of bc im not a bio/chem person:
- we have pre-med adivising w their own advisors so theyd work w you on that end
- i know 3 upper-classmen who got co-ops @ hospitals and medical centers so its not a dead end, we also have a lot of research opps (PEAK is a undergrad researhc program thatll pair you up w a professor and grant to do research!)
- a lot of labs... so email email email id say
i know there was a poster thing for the neuroscience kids based off of some work they did in their classes bc my roommate did that
so youd get experience designing posters if you want to go into reserch
thats the most i really know..
were also in a major city, id say coming from nyc, so a lot of areas in medicine work being done here
yeah that sounds amazing thanks! i'll defo take that into consideration! i actually to be honest have no idea what field i wanna go into in the future but if i do science/healthcare i think nu would be super great asw
i lowk dont either... 😭 i may change to a data sci + business admin w a minor in poli sci at the end of the sem but regardless its a good place to explore
this makes me so sad that I can't go 😭
80k just still doesn't justify this 😔
also, is it possible to still get more scholarships after admission?
yeah def you js apply to internal or outside scholarships
each college has their own college specific scholarship
and the school also sends emails about scholarship apps that are open
one of them i remember is like leadership
hmm this'll make me think about it more. I'm just unsure bc rn I need like another 20k for me to even really consider the school. 14k is from the honors scholarship so if I do manage to get more internal scholarships then I'd need enough to cover the 14k they're gonna detract and then another 20k on top of it
it feels like it'd be a gamble to commit and hopefully get an internal scholarship that's 30-40k
I'm also very reluctant about outside scholarships bc they all seem really competitive except for my local ones and I don't even have a lot of local scholarships to apply to
i think it’s still worth a shot! the small local ones can add up to a lot
look for ones specific to your major as well
the internal ones aren’t that big i think they’re like 1-2k asw
let me go look for the emails
