#Purdue University (2025-2026)

I have like 16k merit so I wanna see if there’s like a cs related field in case I do come
ah
i mean there is
icic
o icic
like really fucking hard
Yea
Some folks think thry can just transfer into cs
But like applying into cs is easier
Also are you sure cs is even the thing for you
You might find another major to be a better option
Think about whar you wanna do
Or where you see yourself
And aim for that
cs "enthusiasts" when the cs 240
theyre just moving faculty, in theory nothing wlse will change and nothing is gonna happen till fall 2027 anyways
whats happenign fall 27
that’s when jmhc can no longer have faculty of their own. basically jmhc faculty has to be relocated to another college then
gotcha
istg if i dont make it into honors this time im gonna have a big crash out
you could go for cybersec or cnit
they're both in polytechnic
cs is really really really really tight on space right now, we just do not have enough faculty or resources for how many cs majors there are here
mfw mechE and ece can have 150-200 person lectures but we gotta fill up the entire WTHR 200 lecture hall balcony included because one professor has to do the course for 600 people
Did you go to the protest
Oh shit EHS
Forgot
One of your teachers walked over
After school
oh dangg
Are you committed to Purdue
ah wthr 200
tandon?
so basically ur saying ece has space for me
But like why would you wanna do ece if you got the capabilities and experience and motivations of a network engineer
tisch 😔
i just feel like the polytech degree wouldn't be as "worth it" as an ece degree outside of purdue job fairs in general
and like less paying jobs and stuff
sure it's more specialized but it's still not like an engineering degree
idk
maybe recruiters don't care
but i also like the electrical side of it
like you gotta realize this all depends on industry
an ece degree in the cybersecuirty or network engineering related fields isnt gonna fly as well
as a cnit or cybersecuirty degree
most engineering jobs are not high paying outside of college nor are they high paying in gneeral, its good money, but not like lucratie money
the company simply matters
i mean yea this makes sense but if you go to another state where polytech schools don't exist, recruiters wouldn't be able to tell the difference
at least i think
yea that's true and job position
polytech majors are everywhere
purdue did not invent the engineering techology majors
they just consolidated all of them into a school
ew
You just get a degree in cyber security, polytechnic is no different than if it said school of computer science or some shit it's all the same. ONly difference is here you get a lot more hands on work
It's definitely worth it, what major are you?
i feel like the work u r given are very different
cnit
i mean
its cybersecurity
that's true
if you want them to go into theory of how it ppped up, they can do cs cyber
but like most of the time
cyber isnt a peice of cake
specially at purdue
i dont hear good things in the junior level
i stand firm with my belief
that polytechnic is not worth unless ure stupid and also in state
polytech is good if u want to go into industry straight afterwards
they teach applicability really well
i feel like polytechnic has a cap
on like how much u can make
like a lower cap
or how high you can climb
but hey at one point its just soft skills
SYBAU WHOS WE
YOU AND ME
this is what i was thinking
whic school do u like more
uiuc for comp lowk
almost every other engineering purdue
except bme and stuff
purdue ece is worth imo if ure into semiconductors and stuff
bme is competitive here
i definitely am but it's gonna be difficult to switch into it
ure cnit?
i might do what mech e said and do industrial to coda first
yea
The Purdue course catalog bulletin lets you search for every class and course for every major offered at the West Lafayette/Indianapolis campus.
bruh 3.7 gpa
yeah youre cooked
is that hard 😭
YES
The Purdue course catalog bulletin lets you search for every class and course for every major offered at the West Lafayette/Indianapolis campus.
this is for FYE
would be ur backup option tbh
seems easier
u can always just join ECE/ whatever in the spring
its no biggie
wait how do you switch to fye?
i thought you can only codo after a sem
some dumb fucks stay in fye for like 3 to 4 semesters
what the heck
yeah a girl ik did taht and still got internship before me 🥀
multivariable calc as a freshman 😭
dang
if my credits transfer ill have finished most of these
do u know how i can check if my local community college credits transfer
i can't find it anywhere
oh i didn't find that
okay so they take both my org chem credits
oh i just have to take 3 classes
polytech is a great thing
but it matters what majors
some of the polytech majors are not useful
or redundant
tbf id rather be a engr tech major than most majors in hhs
like comparative leadership
*organizational
or smart manufacturing
what's hhs
health and human sciences
oh
Nah that’s just cap
Hi snowy
Yeah it gets really hard
Yo what’s good
Nothing much honestly
Yeah fair
Just getting ready for the super bow
LETS GO HAWKS
You should
Yeah it’s in my top 3 offers
Fire
fire
they told me to not transfer, but uiuc got in
bro transferred from indy to the urbana champaign campus 😭🙏
Uh yes
I selected the wrong campus on CA bro it was as
Sad
is everyone just cheering for seattle this time
wait but aside from the people/clubs n stuff, purdue claims the degree btwn the 2 campuses is the exact same??
would ppl who went to indy then be viewed equally w the main campus in jobs n stuff? coz can't the indy ppl js say they go to purdue and not specify
im so irked by this two campus thing... like purdue aint even slick abt the fact theyre pushing the indy campus sooo hard
okay so tldr
the degree plan is the same
and they KNOW people might choose and end up at the wrong campus asw. idk it js kinda feels unethical to me
as in people in purdue WL and indy take the same courses which are managed simultaneously between the two campuses
that means same exams, same topics, shared faculty
so my WL instructor and the indy instructor for a course are both active on a shared discussion board for the class for example
the problem is that the upper level courses offered at indy dont have much breadth
you dont have a lot of choice yet in your elective courses
and yeah student life is kinda lacking
do u think indy being counted as an "equal" makes purdue lose some of its prestige? bc i heard indy is relatively less competitive admissions-wise
so right now they're taking steps to kinda equalize it? it's still a mega work in progress
at least i know for the cs department they've been hiring new faculty stationed at indy (but i know some of them are doing classes over the summer at WL)
they're introducing some newer 300 level courses in indy as well iirc
i do personally plan on putting on my resume "Purdue University, West Lafayette" just to be on the safer side (and yes i do not have a resume right now LMAOOO)
the big laf 🙏
Gng how did u manage to get in Purdue WL with this many braincells
Bro I was asking 💀
It doesn’t seem like it but wtv gang
Oh wait I am stuoid
Lol
We are from Seattle
Who’s that
Dawg 😭🤞
Poor guy leave him alone
I am bro snowy and I are tight
Gng why u in the Purdue subchat, ur in gt
Why even consider pesky purdue
I would've enrolled alr tbh
I got into both, weighing my options
I have Udub in state coming up
Well one beats out the other by far
😂😂
Gt over anything in the world except CMU imo
And maybe mit too
So 3rd
Nah UW CS vs GT MACS
And oxford imperial and Cambridge ofc
Is a conversation
Well I get to choose between the two
Gt wins
Choice = better
Gg
No it’s UW lmao
Especially in state
Yall are tripping if he doesn’t instantly pick UW cs
😭😭
Depends on the major
Lowk it’s still a convo
I do love math so math and computer science at GT is pretty good considering I like DS/ML
It isn’t like 100k a yr it’s like 50k, so my parents don’t have any concern I’m very lucky
h okay
It’s 20k diff / yr
Ah yeah
fs go w uwash if you get in for comp sci
^
has anybody that got deferred gotten a decision back yet?
hard agree
and robotics too i'd say, because cs doesn't cover enough mech and mech doesn't cover enough cs
i mean there are huge differences for sure
also like it's gonna be significantly harder to get into cs masters programs with a cyber degree
Robotics engineering technology should have been a engineering major under multidisciplinary or in mechanical
School
MET and ECET also are good polytech majord as those captures the whole technician thing
AET is for airforce
WHY are there so many georgia tech glazers here 😭 i love purdue
we see the name bro
really? i feel like its a tossup
nah bro
uwash is like
right there gt level
uwash way better campus
seattle>atlanta
and relatively cheap
i mean i'd certainly be leaning washington
but like GT is not out of the question
I mean if you’re going for a CS masters just go CS undergrad
no 😭
if pookie jsn tells me to go to UW i will
My point was that the name of the school has nothing to do with how god it is
“Wake up sunshine you get to see JSN play today” 🫢
2 catches 26 yards (not his fault btw)
ball knowledge if you know you know
he was on my fanasy team bro
fantasy
truly generational
what's ecet
oh that's a thing?
i might switch to that lowkey
if i can't switch to actual ece
You’re CNIT right?
JSNNNNNN
yea
That’s a pretty good major yeah you learn a whole different variety of things
It’s like cyber and networking mixed
bro druski's announcement lwk pmo 😭
it highkey did
he's tryin so hard to be funny 😭 like
fr though
yeah BUT IM SO HAPPY MY BOY BOBBY WAGNER WON THE WALTER PAYTON AWARD!!
Yes bro
when will the financial aid notifications come out?
any RD aplicants get their decision yet?
my transcripts from CC wasnt even sent until today so I doubt they read my application yet
is purdue good if i wanna go to work straight after or better for grad school
Depends on the major
got in for mech i believe
Probably going to work straight after
i see
i’d purduegood for bachelors job opportunities?
Yes?
any idea about ECE opportunities after Undergrad @trim herald ?
Man I’m cyber I got no clue
alr
Completely depends on you. There is a program that a lot of engineers do take, which is called 4+1 combined bsms in mechE, this is how people get their master's degrees within five years. And then go on to industry
The main reason why people do this is because they want to get the benefits of a master's degree while still being relatively close to graduating college
Like something else you can do to help yourself. Is to also get your professionals engineer license
Completely dependent on how the economy goes
But there are jobs everywhere somewhere
You can get a job from graduating from most engineering universities.Going to university will increase your chances of getting a job.But it doesn't guarantee anything
Fundamentally, you must attach the idea that a specific university will increase or decrease your job. Chances at any given time because that's more dependent on
How you are as a student and how you are related to your professional mindset
bragging rights tho
🥹
and campus culture and what not
purdoo
It’s gonna be snowing on my day i tour purdue
did anyone else get a box with like stickers and a beanie and stuff
my friend got one but he didnt commit js got accepted lol
packages arrived?
PURDUE BEANIE?! man i want one too 😭🙏
not fair >:C
!!!
what state
and what major
Hey gng, when will RD will be released?
its rolling
this month or next month?
thanks
shi fr? i thought it started rolling in jan?
im intl so i got no hope 💔
also btw whatd you think of stafford mvp?
250 percent deserved
no they drop in waves in march
😭
virginia, cs
ikr it was acc nice too 😔
oh wait they got a beanie?
oh beanie might just be for cs then
did they get their flag too
oh shi
wait
I might get a beanie 🤞
yes
I think that js comes after u order it
hopefully I get a beanie
i ordered it the day i got accepted
that would be HARDD
that was jan 15th i think
I ordered it like 5 days ago
oh
fr
they can't give beanie to eveyrone
not a ton of JHU admits compared to purdue admits
Is it possible to do the 4+1 bs/ms in electrical engineering in 4 years if you can skip through enough first year credits w AP classes?
yes
but its also a question of why
Wdym?
Why
I wanna do it faster to save money
it will be
Its also prob impossible bc im gonna come in as a physics major
like i can afford to drag a 3 year degree to 4
So i needa transfer to ee
and im going to do that
Gotcha
ah
id lowk codo into fye if u think direct to ee is too hard
Idt codo to ee is too hard
i did ece2k1 as a freshman
After year 1
im supposed to do that in soph spring
lowk u can just lie to your advisor that u wanna minor in ece
Ill have already gotten through calc 1 and 2 since i got a 5 on ap calc bc
And ill prob get through at least mechanics with a 5 on physics c mechanics
but u can only test out of 1 each sem
okay
what other creds do u have
Idk about e&m it depends on how i do this yr
fair
I got a 4 on lang
is that enough i lowk dk
So that tests me out of at least one gen ed
It is i checked
is it engl108 or smth
Not sure
look into the gen ed policy
Lol we sent the clep thing at same time
there are certain rules u have to follow
the only other language i know doesnt have a clep
I wanna get out of general chem
Spanish is clep too so its calm
u can see if u r smart enough to test out of that
Ok so ig ill take that unless csa gets me out
Lol i will dw
for sure. id look into calc 3
Taking it rn in hs
So imma try to test out
In college
calc 3, chem, intro gen eds (psych, soc, edps), cs 159
Imma see what i can do yea
I js wanna take low-level/difficult/technical classes at a earlier time
As soon ws possible
As
no i get that
This is what i like abt state schools
They are much more flexible with credit
Fuckass ivies do this bs where u have to follow their curriculum
When in the end purdue mogs all of them
r u coping bro
its ok i got rejected princeton mae
Purdue has been my 2nd choice after gatech
i was really sad
I lit only applied princeton and cornell rd
gatech was my second and purdue was my backup LOL
those were the only 2 ivies i applied to lol
I am sad for gatech deferral
But if ivy reject idgaf bc its too fucking expensive
das so real
I cant pay 100k a year
valid
this is real but its also cope
its only nto cope if you get into an ivy and say that
I mean ig
Idt its cope tho
its cope
Like i think my stats are comp
For these schools
until you DO get into one its cope
im not syaing I dont think you will
but from what I glean you havent
if/when you get in then when you say it
For a while
it isnt cope
still real though
only ivy i coudl remotely justify for engineering honestly is princeton
and even then its a stretch
networking will be unreal though
Cornell?
cornell is mad depressing
good engineering awful campus allegedly
theres a reason why they install suicide nets
So idk good engineering schools that well
oh ngl
top cs programs go hand in ahnd with top eng
usually
uiuc
gt
mit
stanford
I’ve noticed this
yea
Well that’s good because at like GT or Purdue if i don’t like math/DS/CS I can switch to engineering
ye
might be a lil hard
but yeah
problem is that its not that easy
at certain universities its pretty hard
that and Eng is prolly harder than cs
And gtech I can do engineering right now
Even though I was admitted to math and CS
It takes two buttons
Only restriction is CS
if it’s same college then yeah
if not it’ll take more but it shouldn’t be that bad
No I can switch into anything other than CS
okay
👍
then go for it if you want
theres no need to swap ebfore yout ake any classes
take a year and get a feel for whether you like macs or eng
still haven’t gotten purdue mail
mail for what
stickers n shi
🤞
Apparently they dont sent intl students the merch 💔
Same gng
Will they send mail if we accept their offer?
i got into indianapolis can i transfer to wf lol
dont go indy 😭
i didnt realize the campus mattered so much and applied to indy bc it said indy offers more internships on their website 😭
shouldve done more research on reddit instead
how's purdue cs? does it give you and the breadth and depth for cs jobs + does it have a good ai program? how easy/hard is it to get internships + how good is cs research and interdisciplinary cs application research?
(thank you!)
Purdue University's Computer Science (CS) program is one of the top programs in the U.S., consistently ranked among the best for both undergraduate and graduate studies. It was the first degree-awarding CS program in the country, established in 1962, and has grown into a large department with strong faculty and facilities. The undergraduate program ranks #16 nationally (up from #18 in previous years), while the graduate program is #19, according to U.S. News & World Report. CSRankings places Purdue at #13 overall based on research publications in core CS areas like AI, machine learning, and systems. Student reviews on platforms like Niche and Reddit highlight its rigor, especially in STEM, with a reputation for preparing graduates well for tech careers, though some note it's competitive and demanding. It's particularly strong in areas like cybersecurity (#6 undergrad) and software engineering (#10).
The program provides solid breadth and depth for CS jobs. The curriculum covers foundational topics like algorithms, data structures, and systems, while allowing electives in specialized areas such as databases, graphics, and visualization. It emphasizes problem-solving across fields, with initiatives like Purdue Computes expanding focus on emerging tech. Graduates report high employability, with access to industry-sponsored projects and a large alumni network. Job placement is strong, with many landing roles at top companies due to the program's reputation and hands-on training. For example, the department's scale (largest undergrad enrollment at Purdue) and collaborations ensure exposure to real-world applications, making it suitable for software engineering, data science, and other CS roles.
Purdue has a robust AI program, integrated across CS and beyond. It offers dedicated BS and MS degrees in AI, focusing on machine learning, data analytics, and computational intelligence. The AI track ranks #23 in graduate AI specialties. Recent developments include the AI@Purdue strategy, which mandates AI competency for all undergrads starting in fall 2026, covering learning with/about AI, research, usage, and partnerships. Programs like AI Forge provide hands-on, mentor-guided projects in areas like sustainability and healthcare. Strengths include interdisciplinary applications, with research in robotics, natural language processing, and cybersecurity through centers like the Applied AI Research Center.
Getting internships in Purdue CS is moderately competitive but facilitated by strong resources—it's not overly hard for proactive students with solid GPAs (around 3.0+). The department hosts its own CS career fair, attracting companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook for recruiting. Programs like Pathmaker allow residential internships with tech firms while staying enrolled, and the Center for Career Opportunities (CCO) lists Indiana-specific opportunities. Students often secure roles as sophomores or juniors through clubs, networking, and on-campus events; reviews suggest joining tech clubs helps build experience. Research internships are also available year-round. Overall, Purdue's scale and industry ties make it easier than at smaller schools, with high placement rates.
CS research at Purdue is excellent, with $20 million in annual expenditures and collaborations across all colleges. Faculty lead in areas like AI, ML, cybersecurity, and software engineering, with access to labs and supercomputing. Undergrads can join via programs like the Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship (DURI), which pairs students with cutting-edge projects in themes like global health and security. Interdisciplinary applications are a highlight, such as AI in healthcare supply chains, bioinformatics (combining CS with biology and stats), or robotics with human-AI interaction. The Computational Interdisciplinary Graduate Program extends this to data science and life sciences applications. Opportunities are abundant, with semester-long projects and summer fellowships like SURF.
(im confused is this ai gen-)
overall good info tho
thank you
wt do u expect bro 😭
all u can get is
yes
yes
yes
u got no aid?
im in
cs
oh ic
wt campus?
purdue cs is great! one of the top cs schools in the country with a strong reputation, and we were the first cs dept in the country! we have awesome outcomes, feeding into FAANG, with a high starting salary and placement. internships are tough everywhere rn for cs, but purdue is a solid name, and if u try hard enough and focus on things outside of classes like ECs, it’s not impossible, u just have to be smart. we have an excellent ai program, and we even have an ai major! the ai here is great, I personally have some reservations about it, but it’s more specific personal issues I have lol. our research is greaaaaaat and super accessible to undergraduates, and awesome! cs interdisciplinary application research is also rly good too :D
ping me if u have any other questions I love answering purdue questions!
hell yeah purdude's the goat!!
omg thank youuu
thats really sweet
(a ping is like the best way to get my attention but damn, every ping from this server gives me a heartattack-)
uni decisions are scary
Hi, quick question about Purdue admissions: If I’m not admitted to my first-choice major, does Purdue automatically consider me for my alternate major? And how often do applicants receive admission to their alternate major (similar to how UIUC offers a lot of their students a second choice option)? My alternate is Robotics in Polytechnic and I’d be happy with that path too.
Yeah they consider u for ur alt major unless ur alt major is in the department of cs (cs, ds, ai) or engineering
They do seriously look at ur alt major independently, like they’ll eval ur app for ur main major, then they’ll separately eval ur app for ur alt major if u dont get into ur first, it is not uncommon to be admitted to ur second choice
Oh thats good cuz I’d love to go for robotics
Thanks
Also
how’s Purdue Robotics (Polytechnic)? Is it worth it?
My first choice is Computer Engineering, and I’ve heard mixed things about Polytechnic. I’ve heard it’s not worth going for
im not rly sure, im not too aware of much about polytech, its very dependent on what ur looking for
did yall get ur purdue mail yet
Yk u only get it once u enroll
son
?
hdyk
R u deadass
ye
shi got fsu, cu boulder, ohio state
After u pay the enrollment deposit and do all the formalities, then
Did u get umd?
ye
U got the edu email?
No lol my friend got stickers and beanie from purdue for cs
Didn't enroll js accepted
Dude is so hostile for nothing 😭✌️
oh lol i think he saw the "mail" part & though u were talking about an email for purdue
me??
nah u weren't lol
ohhh
or like some .edu email
No other dude
no they aren't lmao
yes bro why is this taking too long
i also ordered my flag so early too
😭
I haven't ordered my flag yet, if I commit I will do it then
bro its free shit they give you 😄
Yeahhh ik but it'll be awkward if I js have a purdue flag if I didn't commit LOL
man it doesn't have to be this complicated
if you dont commit worst case throw it away
yea same here lamo
Imma get gifts
i did already but doesn't hurt to thank again
Yeye fs fs
kid talking smack w 0 acceptances btw
😭
“I don’t need a safety”
¯_(ツ)_/¯
all are really good schools
boulder also good
Ohio state esp getting harder and harder to get into
fsu hella underrated tbh
frfr
i have a friend that grduated last year going to uf
i tink
that or UMD
i forgot
gtech worth it
UVA 85?!
yea
outrageous
Boulder is good but oos costs ain't worth it
Dunno much abt FSU but I'd imagine it's good too
UF is hella good
Dunno why we're slandering schools here 😭
yea if I get into uf im prolly going uf
most underrated public school is Udub im ngl
guy has 0 acceptances btw
ye fs
I applied to Udub for complete funsies LOL
Beautiful campus tho
niceeeee
yeah i love campus i was just there like a week ago
it’s tuff
super good mexican spot by the lake
Yeah so like maybe let's not be judgemental of ppls schools when twin has 0 acceptances yk
Nice nice
ye exactly lol
what engineering do you want to do?
Aerospace
oh niceee
Yeye
Tbh ik this whole demographic is obsessed with Ivies and whatnot but that doesn't mean other schools are bad too 😭🙏
A2c kids and not glazing the Ivies??? Impossible
Wait how do u order??
all this js to get rejected
Fr
Exactly bro ppl act like ur gonna get an Amazon offer 2 months in js by going to a t20🤣🤣
Dude I genuinely think covid and influencers who promote their slop courses ruined the perception of college and college applications as well
Useless ahh fear mongering too
No college is entitled to give someone an acceptance but some people (especially ppl in my school) act like they deserve that Harvard acceptance like 😭
Oh alr thanks
Yeah the whole college admissions culture makes ppl prestige whore so bad its like really not that deep at the end of the day😭😭
Ngl I think college apps made me more insecure than I've ever been 😭🙏
sameee
Ppl in my school be flexing acceptances left and right
like how
posting online lmao??
Nah bruh they're just yapping abt it
And then our teachers tell them to be quiet
lowk i do talk about it when others bring it up
being honest
See that's okay bc it's warranted
But they bring it up like always
Idk maybe I'm just projecting idk 😭
oh lmao
I'm just a hater dw
nah i'm picking up what you're putting down
It's all good tho I mean the people who constantly flex are unlikable to begin with so no one really cares about them
for purdue yeah, u get it before u enroll
the @purdue.edu email
but hey if any of yall r not keeping ur purdue flag/merch/acceptance package tho, id gladly take it lololol 😋
oh u havent seen it for schools like purdue yet 😭 some ppl think theyre "entitled" to purdue like it isn't a t5 engineering school :V
tbf i dont know enough abt them to judge; maybe i'm salty bc i'm not as good and i see purdue as a reach school but
theres a guy in my cohort who put georgia tech as a safety 🥀
yall intl students are either the most humble or the most delusional ppl known to man
Most ppl in my school didn’t get into main, I only know 3 engineerings kids (including me) and one cs
i keep telling myself what other ppl think shouldn't matter. a lot of ppl around me see purdue as a prt "mediocre" school, and i try not to have it rub off on me
yet Purdue isn’t selective according to some ppl
or maybe im putting purdue on a pedestal..? who knows
they see a 60% acceptance rate and tell me to "shoot higher" like TWIN 😭🙏
ive had kinda the same, in my hs purdue is definitely seen as like a safety, and some ppl are lowk embarrassed to say they go here
That angers me so much ngl cuz why do you gaf
but in the professional world purdue has quite a name, its only college apps where that rep exists only because of its high acc rate
yeah this exactly 😭 this rlly snobbish dude in my grade put georgia tech as his safety and i had to hold my punches
This is good to know imo
or maybe he's secretly cracked or sum idk
dude no one in my school that I know of got in for engineering or cs
I have yet to ask my Val friend
But he’s gatekeeping for now cuz he doesn’t want ppl to annoy him
after i talked to some profs at a local uni (that's an engineering-heavy school) that my dream school was purdue, they rlly respected it
like their initial reaction was like "woah, that's gonna be a hard school to get into"
and i felt like that instantly validated everything at the moment
none of the haters got a phd in engineering 😭
theres no safety for asians though 😭
Lowk my school with UTD ngl, I live in Texas and ppl just love shitting on utd. Sure the campus is dead I’ll admit but it’s not as bad as ppl make it out to be
?
intl*
oh okay I got confused mb
i think he emphasized asian coz the competitive culture for us do be toxic asl sometimes
exactlyyy outside of college apps acc rate stops mattering, its more about how cracked the school itself is in academics rather than acc rate, and purdue is super strong in that, especially in engineering
idk abt other cultures
yea my roommate almost chose UTD over Purdue because it had a lot of upsides like easy research and internships and was rly cheap
Bro Asian parents need to stop obsessing over big brand names sometimes it just creates a more toxic environment
and none of the "prestigious" schools got a whole effing train as their mascot; i'm prt sure theyre js salty 😛
Completely valid ngl, DFW area has GOOD internship opportunities
Also UTD gives great research opportunities, I know it bc I was one of the research students there lol
It was hella fun
Profs were rlly nice
my parents r luckily prt chill. but also college consultants r super toxic sometimes...never did it, but ive had a trial consultation once, asw as heard things from my friends
and they deadass look down on purdue
georgia tech is "acceptable" to them
“Harvard or nothing” like sybau bro
they suggested upenn engineering 🥀
hes STRUGGLING to find an internship rn 😭
but hes from the bayrea so id say location doesnt rly matter atp
I think I’d actually die if I went to an ivy ngl
At Purdue or UTD 😭
i feel like id face sm backlash for picking purdue over tech 😭
i love research 🗣️ 🗣️ 🗣️
Oh well 😭
Did you get GT?
also im kinda bummed abt purdue's media/advertising like
why are they posting the beast games guy sm 😭
like we get it bro 🥀
purdue spends an INSANE amount of money on PR and advertising
anything to make us more famous
and the indy campus
ive seen soooo much abt that guy ughh
i feel like indy campus is gonna backfire on us and will definitely affect our reputation because its so mismanaged and ill advertised
Is there rlly a housing shortage at Purdue
i loved it when they pushed trains and neil armstrong. seems like a rlly strong motif and i genuinely love the spirit
kindaaaa, its not that bad anymore but still exists
like i love how everything is about the next giant leap
lord if I get into uf
like taking pride over neil armstrong is aura
uf vs Purdue gonna be so difficult
but the stuff theyre doing rn..? ehhhhh 🥀
i know they advertise neil armstrong way too much, but its still not enough
I’m a lil worried then 😭
i mean... y would someone choose UTD over purdue
its not even UT austin
utd lowkey buns
ive been able to get on campus housing for 3 years so far, most ppl i know as well
They gotta milk Neil Armstrong more bruh that’s all my Indian parents and their brown parents group chats know abt
except uncle bits 😔
Cost…
yeah my point exactly !! im js afraid the indy campus ruins purdue's reputation / prestige/ perceived competitiveness within the industry
outside the industry i dont rlly gaf
its super cheap and he could graduate with a masters in 3.5 years (the 4+1 program but accelerate it even more)
but i heard engineering is also easier to get into for the indy campus. dunno by how much or whether it's true
exactlyyy employers will not be able to differentiate indy and wl and thatll hurt wl instead of helping indy
what is utd even good for
is he instate?
a substantial amount
yeah
no hes from cali
it carries the overall acceptance rate
he got nmsf so it was suuuper cheap
same w cs
isnt UTD's tuition like 40k?
a lot of things bruh, I know a current Lockheed employee who got a cs degree from UTD. I dunno why ppl hate on UTD so much
mhm!! like i got into wl, but my ego's kinda hurt by the fact that someone who got into indy can say they got into/attend the same school
u can transfer to austin
he got a buuunch of scholarships from them
EXACTLY
yea valid
like i did NOT try so hard to get into engineering at WL js to be on the same level as an indy admit 😭😭😭 soz
I love that I’m defending UTD, I didn’t even apply there 😭😭
indy cud be good in the future but not rn
maybe i am a prestige whore after all 🥀
lmaooo
lowkey engineering is prestige
cs is whah you do in school
and like other stuff
this is imo the biggest downside of purdue for me
once u get in yesss be a prestige simp
flex on everyone
that’s such a take
I’m sorry I lowk disagree
like at least georgia tech doesnt have a weird second campus thingn theyre tryna force feed 😭
tbh idrc that much abt indy since im gonna do grad school hopefully somewhere else lol
every single complaint of mine with purdue lies with the fact that it is situated in the state of indiana
Purdue should just lower its selectivity bc the Indy campus is just not working out
ikrrr we make so much in profit for the state but its still not enough
like there was this alum at my school who i thoguht got into purdue engineering 2 years ago... i was so impressed esp since he wasnt in the robotics club / any stem clubs at school i know of; now im looking at his insta following and i think he's at indy (??)
but they can also say they go to "purdue engineering"
Oh nah 😭
Bro i remember i had to break it to someone at my school that they got into Indy and not WL
so if i'm looking for a job... and the employer sees "purdue"...
is it even allat anymore
when it's the same title for indy and wl
js say west Lafayette bro
I KNOW RIGHT theres this AI major who keeps on posting about how they have such great opportunities going to a well established institution purdue, but he goes to indy aaaa
and ofc the internship i apply to and he applies to will both see purdue and think were the same
hro js do Purdue west Lafayette not that hard
No but someone from Indy can just say Purdue and the recruiter can assume that they also went to WL
but if he excludes indy from his resume theyll assume wl
exactly my point
true
lowk indy be ruining perception of Purdue
exactly 😔
YEAH EXACTLY 😭 they can say "purdue"... and ppl immediately think of WL
coz why would u specify it's the "worse" campus 🥀
they even list indy 1st in common app
Bc my dad knew abt Purdue from the Indy campus and he got mad at me applying there, before I told him I applied for WL
i almost applied to indy
this is disgusting imo
they're tryna trick students
I SAW THIS thats so scummy
fr
god bless alphabetical order fr
and they dont even make it obvious EVEN AFTER U COMMIT
thank God i found ts before applying
one of my friends committed and didnt find out until april that she was going to indy and not wl
only because of dorms stuff
Bro I checked my acceptance letter three times beforehand to confirm that I got into WL
and not Indy
lmao
lmaooooo
the Indy hate is crazy
yk my bf told me... i think i forgot but he remembered. we went up to the purdue booth at vex worlds together (THE WORLD'S LARGEST ROBOTICS COMP MIND YOU), and the purdue rep said i should apply to indy coz WL would be "too difficult" for me
Also Indy is right by IU
indy is not worth the 45k that wl is worth
so poo
ewww
wtf
ye ik
damn i was the purdue rep for my school during alum day, purdue doesnt gaf about our school but everyone applies anyways 😭
lowkey might go to uf
if one cares about experience, i guess? but at the end of the day it's still the same degree, no?
if j get in
this is why it highk pmo
yeah tehres no difference in the diploma
but experience is a huuuuge part, the opportunities at indy dont match with the opporutnities at wl
uf here we come I guess
yea
like is this basically saying that
nuh uh u ARE coming to purdue
u dont have a choice
if i slacked off a lil more in high school
u WILL commit to purdue
not saying i worked hard or anything coz im a lazy bum
brk if I get into uf im prolly going to uf
I’m instate for uf
if i applied to indy, it would've been the same end result..?
so all that effort then becomes a waste
and that makes me sad
DUDE IKR i so couldve slacked off so much more in hs why did i try so hard
i should've applied to indy
im compensating by slacking off rn (ive never been more locked in)
but transferring to wl is damn near impossible 💔
he never said he's going there 😭 js bragging rights abt acceptane
i wont go to indy anyways 🥀
ohh
