i personally don't see myself going to Harvard or any other ivy except yale 😭 i have such a special spot for it and i TOTALLY fell in love more and more during the program that's why i'm not thinking twice about REA - i read that it tells the school that "you're my number one and i think i'm a great fit" and they obviously appreciate that so if you think you REALLY are, go for it in my opinion

yeah I mean like I just don't know bc I could totatlly stack up a few more awards, develop my ecs a bit more to make them more impactful, and really refine essays and ensure my SAT is exactly where it needs to be over 90 days much better than I can in 30 days

so like honestly I might just start writing the supps for yale now and then make a call when I get my October SAT back

I also have the fear of like the insanely hooked applicants flooding the REA pool like legacies, athletes, major donors, major int'll award winners (i'm not hooked) like yes the accpt rate is techninally higher but its also bc its flooded (apparently) with these ppl vs RD is mostly hard working high-schoolers who are un-hooked and so youre competing in a "less competitive" but, albeit, larger applicant pool

well yeah they're very chill from what i've read but my mentors in yirli which were yale students told me that they have a very friendly environment where almost everyone is willing to help you

and they overall sounded very happy to be there

i honestly don't think about that because in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter that much between REA and RD. yale will always have a tough and highly competitive applicant pool so i take it as a way to show yale how much i'm interested in studying there more than any other school. also, as you said even statistically you have a better chance

well you don't know for a fact who's applying EA and who isn't so i honestly wouldn’t think too much about this. at the end of the day it's gonna be completive as hell no matter the round 😭 also i genuinely think if yale is going to admit you ED they will also do it in EA because obviously they wouldn’t for an applicant that they think is a good fit for their school to apply to the other ivies and potentially get in.

yeah the only pre-college I wanted to do was YYGS

because I've heard its the only "competitive" one

the rest are mainly trying to just get money for a few courses over the summer

and yes YYGS is expensive but they also give very generous aid

but also know that YYGS does not equal higher chance of getting into Yale

its just you might see kids who did it going to Yale bc they wanted to do a summer program there and have worked like any other kid to get into Yale

its not bc of the summer program itself

Yale does a very good job at making this a very clear point even when you are at YYGS

most of the kids who do it tend to be the same ones applying to t20s and have the credentials to get in, the summer program is just something they do for fun over the summer

I will say YYGS can help with your "why Yale" a bit but it will not give you a significant advantage in that essay imo

I would say they are not pre college since I think they are more research based, but I know regardless that YYGS is often seen as one of more reputable ones

I usually hear like MITES, RSI, SSP, YYGS, and some other stem ones

The other thing was I feel like a lot of the more social science ones are not as generous with aid and/or competitive besides yygs and like 2 others that I can’t recall right now
