Intended major: Political Science and Econ, on pre-law track
Costs: costs are similar b/c OOS for UMich, not major factor in decision
Rice
School 1 Pros:
- smaller community, easier to get resources/friendlier
-nearer to home (kind of a pro and a con)
-residential college system is super cool
-good for pre-professional programs
-strong research
-campus is pretty, feels like an extension of my private high school
School 1 Cons: - weather/location (live in TX currently and weather is humid)
-possible not as good/well known for my major?
-not as many resources?
UMich
School 2 Pros:
-great curriculum
-more highly ranked for political science + greater opportunities
-has a South Asian studies program (which I wanted to explore)
-RC invite + applying for honors program
-strong research
-beautiful campus, rlly liked the ppl and study spaces
School 2 Cons:
- weather (extreme during winters)
-size (idk how well I'll do in a larger community) very big-lots of competition for resources
Conclusions:
-I like both schools, they're on opposite sides of the spectrum but are still kinda weighted the same; idk how to really make a decision
-I have visited both campuses and feel like both have a strong sense of community and are beautiful but i still don't know
-I really want to prioritize the place that will give me the best academic experience for law + dorm/food situation
-I'd love any insights anyone would have to give, especially because I don't know a lot about either!! thank you!!
