Hi everyone,
My name is Pranav, and I am a fifth year integrated BS/MS student studying Chemical Engineering at UC San Diego. I was in new Sixth College during my undergrad years so if anyone has questions about my experiences, hmu. Fun fact: my incoming cohort(Fall 2020) was the first ever cohort to experience new Sixth.
Over the past 4 coming on 5 years, I've learned a lot, including tips, tricks, dos, don't, and absolutely do nots!
Currently, I'm working on my Masters components for my Chemical Engineering major, which involves me retaking the core Chemical Engineering courses I've taken as an Undergrad at the graduate level. I've also completed a finance minor at the Rady School of Management and I'm currently planning on taking more classes to further my interest in finance specifically in Asset Management, Banking, and consulting.
I've lived 2 years in the Sixth College dorms, including one during Covid, 2 years off campus in the University City area with some friends of mine, and I'm now currently living in graduate/family housing back on campus.
During my time on campus, I was a project lead for AiChE (our Chem Engineering professional club) where I worked with a team of other students to build a portable water filtration device for people of the Navajo Nation. I also did a brief research stint at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography for about a year, and did a 3 month internship at U.S. Bank as a Corporate Banking Analyst. I've also worked on campus as a catering worker for a quarter and as a TA for 2 quarters as a side gig.
Feel free to use this space to ask anything about the UCSD campus, the UC application, my experiences as a UCSD student or as a UCSD applicant, or a general vent space if you need it. I'm happy to answer any questions as soon as I'm able to. Thank you for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to having fun 😄
