Schools: NYU V UMass (already EA)
Intended major: Political Science/Social Thought and Political Economy
Similarities: Northeast weather, name brand doesn't matter too much for law school
NYU
Pros:
New york is great + career opps
NYU has excellent prelaw outcomes
I have toured and loved the campus
I fw the vibe of the student body and think I could accomodate the social scene
NYU Poli Sci is pretty renowned
Ranking
Cons:
Paying sticker- 93(?)k/year
Gotta pay for law school after
No political economy program
UMass Amherst (already EA decision jan 17)
Pros:
Instate tuition + possible merit = annual price < $40k/year
Possibility of honors college admission
Social thought and political economy major
I also fw the campus/student vibe
food!! (also vegetarian so it helps to have good food for options)
Cons:
Don't love suburban location
Ranking/clout
Distance to home
Poorer name recognition
Tiebreaking considerations:
Can I withdraw an ED2 as long as I do it before I get acceptance depending on the merit I get from UMass? (or change to RD)
Is there a substantive diff. between UMass law school outcomes and NYU?
Any alumns/ current attendees opinions on schools?
