Location/Region: City or Suburby/rural works, doesn't matter as long as there is things to do and public transport. If it is rural though I would prefer it to be a college town similar to Amherst, MA or Ithaca, NY.

Major: Polisci, possible double major with urban/regional planning (or minor in that)

GPA/Test Scores: HS GPA: 2.358uwπŸ₯² Uni GPA is much higher. Though my first transcript is not out yet, I think it will be at least 3.5 but hopefully far higher, hoping for 3-4 As out of my 4 classes. Also I am taking a winter class.

Curriculum: I would like classes with medium to high academic rigour. I did not care about academics in HS and I regret it and care a lot now. Generally I do not care if it is a Liberal Arts or Research Institution, as polisci can be taken at either really. I do enjoy Consortiums though, something similar to the FiveColleges or Quaker Consortium where classes can be taken at other nearby unis would be nice.

Size: 20-50 people, though I do not mind bigger or smaller really. One where I can connect with my professor would be nice, though.

Costs: 33k in fund (if subtracting my full first year from where i am), generally maybe wanting to spend no more than 20k per semester.

Schools You're Currently Looking At: UMass Amherst is a huge one; also looking at Loyola Chicago, Ohio University (i get instate there since my parents went), and NYU. My high reaches are Columbia and Amherst College, low reaches are Northeastern and aforementioned NYU. Safeties are Hampshire and Brandeis. Also kind of looking at Bryn Mawr.

Additional: I think that a dealbreaker is academic rigour and at least some student community that cares about academics. I am fine with going to a party school if there is also an academic community there. Generally a school with an honours college would be nice even if i could not get in if just to network with higher performing students. Also I want a strong Jewish community there and accoms for religiously Jewish students.

ADDITIONAL INFO (character limited)
I want a study abroad programme; I have always wanted to study in Sweden and I speak swedish so ideally one that would let me study in Sweden OR in Barcelona as my cousin is moving there so I would know someone there.

While my GPAs are TERRIBLE, I am also doing clubs. Right now I am helping start a chapter of the COCOA (a national organisation for autistic college students) and I am planning on interning for my local city government in the city of my current school.

Despite my bad GPAs; I really hope I can get somewhere. I didn't really care about academics until this year after high holidays but now I care a LOT and I am hoping that my low HS GPA but high uni GPA can reflect this, I plan on writing about these in my essays.

When transferring colleges, colleges will mainly focus on your college academics and achievements over that of your high school's. Yes they will still technically look at it(especially if you're transferring after 1 year), but it will not be as important to them.
