Hi everyone!
I’m Meichen, a second year at UCLA majoring in Human Biology and Society in the College of Letters and Science. Although I do not currently have a double major or minor, I’m still looking out for things I might be interested in!
At UCLA, I work as a research assistant in a radiation oncology lab at the medical school, and I also conduct public health research with a student organization that runs health fairs for underprivileged populations in LA County. I am a director of a volunteering program affiliated with UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, where musicians perform in patient rooms and for healthcare staff. I’m also a board member of our chamber music club for non-music majors (and am quite involved with the classical music scene here). As for things unaffiliated with UCLA, I volunteer at a hospital in Beverly Hills, have interned for a political organization relating to public health, and enjoy reading books of all genres and gaming :>
For my career plans, most of these activities do scream pre-med — but as someone who’s really interested in health policy, law school has also been on the table. I’m not fully set on anything, but regardless I do plan on taking gap years, so I’m not in a rush!
Feel free to ask any questions you want about UCLA! However, if you want to ask admissions-related questions, I can answer questions about things like my high school academics/extracurriculars (I did research in high school and got it published my first year of college), my own personal college application process, and my own personal college decisions/why I chose UCLA. However, I’m not an admissions officer, so I can’t answer very many admissions questions beyond that!
