there’s not really a formula for how they review apps, it depends on a ton of factors including what college you applied to, what your residency is, when you applied during the EA cycle, whether you used the penn state application or the common application, etc. you’ll get a decision by december 24th, i promise if they wanted to send out all of the rejections on one day they would just have a normal decision date

they got over 35k EA apps for the class of 2027 and it’s no doubt gone up by now. the admissions office is only human lol

Most likely, however, if you email admissions to say you no longer want to be considered for summer session and you want to be considered for another major, maybe they are still able to get you back in the application pool for regular decision? Not 100% sure. It depends on the major you want to apply to. Is it in the same college as comp sci?

If there’s no way you would go to Penn state with summer session then I would recommend emailing admissions but tbh it’s not that bad from what I hear. Good way to make friends with a smaller (yet still large) group of kids

Yes, I’m from New Jersey so it’s not too far. Living situation is good. There are 2 all freshman dorms; east and pollock. East is newly renovated 2022-2023 and Pollock has not been renovated in who knows how long. They are starting renovations on pollock next year (I think) but yeah if you commit here go for east halls

I will say it’s not super easy getting back, especially as a freshman. No cars for freshman, but I do know of people leaving their car at a lot and then using their cars to get home and stuff. I’ve met some people from California who have to fly which requires layovers and can be expensive since State College airport is expensive to fly out of

So you can’t have a car on the campus lots I believe. My friends are bringing their car to their airport parking lot where they can take a bus to get to their car. They are mainly using their car to get home and back just to save money on bus/airfare

I will say that I have not felt the need to go far off campus at all besides downtown which is literally right next to campus. If there is a place you want to go, you can use Lyft (Penn state gave us free rides I think but I haven’t used it) or you can take buses which have routes that go near shopping centers

Yes- I'm in east halls which is all freshmen and the bathrooms are private. my floor has 7 bathrooms and you can lock the door and take your time without worrying about anyone hearing or seeing you. East is newly renovated in the last few years and Pollock (the other area with mostly freshmen) is significantly older with communal restrooms but I dont hear people complain about it

2+2 is definitely better for in state. I know some people who have done 2+2 and say it was good for them to start out at a smaller campus and make friends there that they also had when entering UP

With that being said though, the satellite campuses are smaller and some people come to Penn State for that big school experience. You wont get that at a satellite

2+2 has its pros and cons but if you really want to come to penn state- it's not a bad offer (especially for in state!)

Okay so I got the penn state 2+2 campus offer at erie for smeal. I think what went wrong is because my scores weren't going to be in by the due date I went test optional

I called the AO and theyre like okay youll be considered for RD but your test scores will be considered

I said okay and that was the end of it. But it looks like they didnt consider my scores at all and kept me in EA which is why I probs didnt get main campus
