No, from what I recall, you get your first admissions for whatever college you applied to on EA. Basically to see if you get into the University or not. If you do get in for EA, you should receive your CS Advanced Selection result shortly after, like I'm pretty sure after a few days but can't confirm much on that.

Yep. Much of deferrals has more to do with the fact that they didn't have enough time to do a good full review your applications

And, unsurprisingly, vast majority get deferred

They still reviewed your application, but not fully well enough to give a definitive answer due to time constraints. So often you're deferred to get a further review.

And you gotta understand college admissions is unfair. There's too many complications around that may be an advantage or disadvantage for you. Gotta remember Michigan is getting record highs in applications. So they're doing the best they can to make it as fair as possible for the application process.
