Have you done the Net Price Calculator? Michigan is one of the few public universities that give decent aid to OOS students but it's not as good overall compared to top privates. Obviously some OOS students get lucky (like myself) in getting a great amount of aid to cover costs but for the majority, that's usually not the case. Do the NPC, see the costs, and if you feel it's realistic for you, then by all means go for it. If not, maybe it's not the right option.

Again, Michigan is a public university, much of their aid is mostly focused with in state students who's families pay state taxes and have resided there. Given you are an out of state student, you won't get as good aid to them as opposed to a top private university or your in state university
