😟
field too niche
ahhhh
i'd have to do a PhD
why apply at all then
i can just do ds and waltz my way in
the acceptance portal was nice
So fr
but no i realised that after i did more research once i got accepted
but i also have beef w them for that
UIUC please let me be a nuke here 🙏
my mom wanted to see one of my decisions
so i was trying to set up the portal for her for uiuc
but as soon as i logged in the acceptance thingy popped up
LMAO
so i 1) spoiled the decision and 2) the confetti didnt come when she opened it bc second time
noooooo
i agree
seems like a fun school
i disagree
i didnt realize until after i committed to cal but they gave me a fatass scholarship
minus the horrendous colors
If you get rejected do you get red confetti
probs not
no it just says denied iirc
it doesnt give a rejection letter
it just says
Application Status: Denied
DENIED
thats so sad
😭
😭
lmaooo
I'm not gonna see that tho
one of the countless reasons its ewIUC
But MIT > UIUC
anything better than uiuc
Even BYU?
yes
i got a reason to hate uiuc even more valid than why i hate berkeley
dm?
yea
i think i know what it is but
Guys I might get into MIT
But if you think about it all the acronym schools may be mid
Only Purdue doesn't have a goofy acronym 🙏
Whoops
pu
nah no one calls it that
pu onion boy
(average purdue engineering major)
bro my purdue essays were actually so bad but im not too worried lmao
why purdue was just me talking about tracks, data mine, and pathways internship program
and then why major was just lifted off my UIUC EC supp
datamine my beloved
and then i talked about how i wanted to pursue PL, Systems, and Foundations as my tracks
does ai also have tracks
ah
i see, but its still within the CS dept right
yea
im not too worried about my shitty essays since im well above the 75th pctile for purdue stat wise
yeah
georgia tech and uiuc alr downloaded my apps 😭
purdue is still
"submitted"
uiuc downloaded mine too
same
I thought CS was technical?
If u click the question mark next to the subject box it will say ap cs principles and csa are in math
got it
Well thank god I haven't submitted it yet
I'm just gonna put both that and CSA as math
Didn't take CSP because bum class
I couldnt take csa and had to take csp because i had a scheudling conflict with calc bc
😭
you go to purdue bruh where was most of your undergrad population last weekend
😔
one of my roommate’s friends at purdue showed up for halloweekend and said it was the only fun he’d had in college so far
shoutout this place
although yall do have better colors
srar is HELL omfg
I already had to do it for rutgers☠️
other/technical
😭
ok i did it.... idk if i did it right
my counselor said she can help tho
so im gonna have her check over it lol
but UIUC has their own version of "SRAR"
😭
i thought its just the one common srar
but nope
UIUC has their own
why do u have to manually put in EVERYTHINGG oml
Guys it can not be that hard😭
i didnt get the rutgers or uiuc portal yet
but i have to do the srar for penn state too 😭
its not hard
its just that i thought i can link my srar for this one too
😭
its not bad just tedious
because theyre too lazy to read a fucking transcript
how do u know ur in dartmouth???
did u commit and get in or some
facts though 😭
manifesting 💔
its fine i'll change it
dont want attachment issues
good luck
also would NOT be applying to uiuc if i was dartmouth bound lmao
im manifesting purdue or gtech
lmao
real 😍 gll
thanks thanks
applying ce 🙏
Yeah I know I hate it
yessir (my ass is NOT getting in)
bro have u done the SRAR yet
its so aids
gt, uiuc, purdue my top 3 rn
i think udub might be #3 too but if i get in ill get like 5 dollars of aid
nah man
I have to talk with my counselor about it
I transferred schools so there's a few issues I gotta work out with her
it's due on nov 7th right
yea im checking mine with counselor tomorrow
yea
I heard rutgers camden released rlly quickly but I only applied NB so
nb?
non binding
new brunswick
oh lol
better than 0 dollars of aid
u just saved 5 bucks
u can prolly buy 1 gallon of fuel now!
💀
oh northeastern + nyu have srar too eww
i hate this ew
luckily my counselor the goat
me 2
Would running start classes count as college or dual credit?
It says it can take 24hrs for ur status to change
if i submit a page of the SRAR can i go back and change it
yeah
just got the uiuc email, time to lock in on SRAR
what do i put CS classes under? math? or technical? or what
So question for the SRAR
so for my college classes they appear both on my college transcript aswell as my high school transcript
because of the fact that I do like dual enrollemnt but take them at my highschool
so where should i put those
They say only college
wdym
From what I read they don’t want you to list it under high school
I think it’s in the faq or something
Hmm okayi 'll check
but then essentially my high school transcript from like sophmore year on will be mpty lmao
I think that’s fine
I can’t find the faq now that I submitted it but I’m pretty sure that’s what they said
Alright cool
heyy can i have the link to this ty
I googled UIUC SRAR Dual Credit
But it was on the SRAR if you still have access
is an eng proficiency test required
Is running start college or dual credit??
are you a WA resident?
but prolly college
What do you think about like AP classes cause for my high school I get the AP credit but I also get like CC credit from them
How do you get CC credit
Wouldn’t it just be AP
Each college decides separately whether to give AP credit
Idk that's just how my high school operates
like it's on my college transcript as a history course
like it's on my high school and college transcript
I’d ask your counselor then
okay cool
I took it at my high school
but it's on my college trancsript
put under hs
okay cool
guys deadass i thought urbana-champaign was anywhere near chicago
turns out its 2 hours south 😭
its like a college town ig
still not much 2 do
plsss i like uiuc but i need outta this state 🙏
unless its northwestern
Yes
are you in IL
i wanna ask again how would i submit language classes i skipped b/c of a placement test? its still on my transcript
dude the ride back and forth is trash
damn
apparently uiuc owns an airport in champaign
so another option is to fly to chicago and get on a connecting flight
but thats not pretty convenient is it
can be annoying at times
yea
that def would add up
also is it worth it to like fly 30 mins
prob not
but if i were to end up there i have no one to drive me and will have to rely on someone to pick me up
or ig i can find a bus
idk
my brother went and he just flew to chicago and rode a bus for 2 hours
yeah
makes sense
does the bus go directly to the uni campus
what did you guys put for language other than english
I did ib spanish SL
like what level is that
It says if ur language course does not indicate a lvl to enter the # of yrs u gave taken it in ghe lvl field
i technically took 4 but 1 was in 8th grade and I took it off my transcript
i took spanish 1,2,3, SL
i skipped some language levels with a placement test how do i put it in
is AP Prep on the srar the same as "Pre-AP"?
cos my transcript has Pre-AP courses but im not sure if thats the same as "AP Prep"
wait wtf
i applied ea, i specified this in my common app
i had my common inn on the 25th of october and i did my srar rn
cooked
it takes 24 hours to update iirc
yeah i asked their office of undergrad admissions
I hate how they put that there w/o an immediate disclaimer though
scared the heck out of me, and its super confusing
same here i almost flipped out
So for the classes that are both ap and dual credit should I put them in my high school or college thing?
😭😭
i think u do both
idk for sure
see i talked 2 my counselor
i was highk confused still
Both?
yeaaa
Really
Yeah same
thru another local uni
Yup
and i believe u can do both
Same exact thing here
well i have these classes that r like.. not AP but we do them at our hs + get credit thru cc
and she said both sections iirc??
again i am not 100% sure
but i js am praying i did it right
okok
how do u got ap AND dual credit?
chat
for the srar
my grading system only does a's, b's and c's
no a+/a- etc
so like i have a couple grades that are like 97 and 92 for each semester, but my school district sees both as an A
so do i report it as an A+/A- if our district doesn't have that conversion
Tuna just do it as your district reports it
don't convert between systems
sank u snowy
yes of course
chattery chat
i forgot putting my ap scores in my common app
can i send it to them or is there a way on the portal
i was gonna say probs js email them
it says complete for regular decision for me what else do i need?
oh do i have to send official
wait
how the hell is that RD
did you submit the app after nov 1st?
yeah
nov 2nd
it may update
apparently it updates in a few days
Can we get a pinned message or something for that?
if we have summer courses from a different "high school" (UC scout program) that goes onto ur official high school transcript, which part of the SRAR do you put the grades in? I just don't want it to seem like the classes I took at this alternative high school are completely independent of my official high school, because the classes were a partnership between both schools and they were meant to go on my official high school transcript that contributes to my official gpa
I had this same question in fact I took them from uc scout lol, I just put both courses twice
for example I had spanish from ucscout on my school transcript I lsited that on my highschool for uiuc, and then listed it on my ucscout
section
just do both
cause it says list every course on your highschool transcript
uh so i submitted my sat officially on like the 28th of october, so why does it say "self reported"??
for SRAR my school reports grades as 1-100 for each semester and only ten point letter grades (A B C etc)
it doesnt even technically report letter grades but it uses them for UW gpa
I would call and see if you can change it because I just called and they said NOT to list it twice only list the college party
how much does uiuc cs care about ECs
the college counselor that came to our school said it was mainly an emphasis on stats
its like a 7% acceptance rate
they can't reject 93% of applicants on stats alone
true
apparently it takes 24hrs to update their website
scroll up a few others had the same issue
but they had it resolved
never showed up for me like that tho
mine resolved this morning
so even my self-reported scores that appear as submitted on 11/2 right
even though i submitted them w the common app itself on 11/1
idk, me personally, i had everything submitted in october
oh dw i didnt submit yet
um
so if its a dual credit class
i dont list it in hs??
why is this so confusing wtf
No you don’t
Put it in the college
That’s what I’m doing
idk i checked my portal and it said this!
no it toko me a day to update
OH
Yea
so at first you had regular decision?
Ye
oh i see
It says RD first to everyone
i see
yes
a class is considered college level (by uconn), but im not enrolled in dual creidt to recieve college credit from uconn, shoudl i still say dual credit or what? cause theres no College Level option
its not AP either
its ECE
i swear there was a "college level" option
oh wait
ik
add a university
add a new school
So for my DE classes
do i put the college course's grade as it shows in my HS transcript or the college transcript
i got college credit for 2 HS classes how do i put it on my SRAR
i'm asking the same thing
well i put it for the college
but i don't to know if to put the grades for the class that are on my college or hs transcript
is srar due nov 6th 11:59 pm or nov 7th 11:59 pm
stop slacking and do it now tbh
Hi guys I’m planning to take a course later this year but I haven’t signed up for it yet. Can I still report it as not started when entering in the courses even if it’s not shown on my transcript that it’s currently in progress? UIUC won’t need official transcripts until you get admitted too
Idk if it's just me
But why tf is Spanish not an option in the foreign language section?
It literally won't show up in my dropdown menu
nvm just a browser issue I switched browser and problem solved
UIUC Decision Release Times
Dates are confirmed, time of day is likely. Displayed in your current time zone.
EA: <t:1738360800:F>
RD: <t:1740780000:F>
@everyone we have found the UIUC decision release dates for those who have not yet seen!
Damn
woah
Didn’t apply but woah
wait are all decisions done on the same day or could they happen earlier
Usually I don’t trust end of month dates but I checked last year via wayback machine and their website had the correct dates
same day
shouldve cited me smh
I expect these to be the exact bc of the above + their habit of releasing on Fridays (which both of these are)
jk
nice
I think i was gonna lock in the 24th for UNC as a speculated date on the website but now ion wanna
carly is there a approximate for gt EA1
time to wait for 2 more months 😍
UIUC decisions coming out on my birthday 😭🙏
Omg all college decisions are so late 😭
no way
But then Cornell is so early like I’m not gonna gwt in and I’m gonna just be depresso lol
uiuc and NEU are my latest
For most dates I have two guesses tbh I only put up the ones on the website where I was leaning towards one of the dates I can double check tech again to see the two I’m between if any
either gonna be the best or the most mid birthday present
Mid?
getting a rejection
Wait @iron aspen in state or OOS tech
okay danke
instate
not if you don’t gaf about the school
Yeah ☠️ hopefully the former
real
man jan 31 feels so far away
Is it better to get rejected by UIUC or accepted by Alaska Bible College?
Their pattern is second Friday of December so my guess is the 13th but the month starts on a Sunday so if they wanna run early they could reasonably do the 6th
These are the questions we should be asking ourselves
holy shit thats so soon 😭
only purdue does rolling for rd afaik
Tbf they only have to deal with a state of applicants for that
I think they did waves for ea last year
Bc I wrote starting on it
A couple UCs do waves as well
NEU did waves at least once but I think that’s abnormal idr
USC does waves for both ea and rd
yea but im so nervous 😭
is there a RIT/UGA thread yet
No
darn no interest 😔
The one I remember was funny as hell but also hell for us
Basically they released some of their abroad decisions early via a welcome email
And it was a Saturday morning
Which is not when they were intending to release decisions
So they had to whip up a plan to let in all the kids they accidentally sent emails to that day + a few others and then do a few waves that week
The poor social media people
Damn I remember this waiting period was insane
All the best to those who applied
Feels weird to be finally on the other end of all this
wait do you mean waves on the same day or across days
bc I don't remember across day waves
Varies by school
for uiuc?
No
wdym no
Purdue does it in waves?
Yes
Cool
ahh
oh i thought you meant uiuc here
guys I cant fit "Not Started" on my SRAR
SANKS ORZ
Also damn jan 31 is crazy
☠️ Well shit I put the gym quarters I have for q3 and q4 as not started
What do I do
i finished my SRAR but i lowkey have some questions about it
is it ight if i submit it tmr after i call their AO
today is the 6th?
for me its the 7th
i live in central time so...
i think we have until tmrw
😭
ngl idk if i did it 100% right
i was like honest yk
but
idk if i did the dual credit thing correctly cause i was confuzzled
If it’s on your HS Transcript and College transcript and you selected dual credit your good
okayy
idk if i got the credit properly but my counselor said worst case scenario she can js email or smth
I turned in the SRAR today but it says I am put for Regular decisision even thoug all my application materials are in
#1268244495976235110 message
because everything shouldve been received by 11:59 pm CT 11/6
i think
or i may be wrong
No other college does it that way
in which case thats a technical issue
@little haven dyk if the uiuc time is cst or est
this should show in your local timezone
oh ty
SAME
??????????
Is anyone elses UIUC portal still saying regular decision?
Hey
what the ilini
What are you gonna do with it?
Sell it?
How much does a UIUC acceptance go for these days?
im going to attend the school duh
Wait lowkey what if they allowed you to sell acceptances
that would be good
i can sell my illinois state acceptance to the 5% that cant get in
😍
Imagine the insane people who have multiple ivy acceptances
They'd prob sell for like thousands
yea def
capitalism 100
hallo killah
millions
you could get a mil for sure
bruh aint no one paying a million for an acceptance from an ivy
https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2024/10/18/why-parents-will-pay-500000-for-ivy-league-admissions-consulting.html
if they'd pay half mil for likely acceptance, i think they'd pay mil for guaranteed
supply and demand graphs will go crazy for this
well people donate entire buildings just to get their kids in so not really a surprise
do i need official scores
it says complete for EA btw
my dumbass sent this in a video game official server 💀
oh wait im an idiot
yea
ur good
only officcial when enrolled
thinking of RD here for CE
varsity blues...
(ik usc isnt an ivy but it shows you how rich people operate)
How much worse is the acceptance for rd cs
prob much worse
terrible
very much worse being realistic
unless ur cracked out of your mind and won like usaco plat or something i really dont think its worth applying rd to uiuc for cs/ce
CE is a lot easier than CS
though yeah still insanely difficult RD
prob need to be even more cracked than that
I thought CE was slightly easier to get into?
it is
but its still really competitive
The acceptance rate is 5x compared to CS
It's still competitive but it's not at the same level
Oh alr
woah, really?
yes
but that's not saying that much since CS is like 3% OOS
and I'm only speaking about out of state
in state it's like 13% vs 35% or smth like that
still, 5x is really great
thats 15% oos for ce
@slate socket whats your major btw?
Actually I think it's more like 4% looking at the stats
CompE
yes
for CS I mean
20% for CompE
isnt 20% a lot?
where to find UIUCs admission stats?
LORs arent really required for UIUC?
You can't even submit LORs on commonapp
someone requested them from the admissions office on reddit
20% is high but absolutely still a reach
that means 80% get waitlisted or rejected
then where are they sent?
you don't submit them
it said "neither required nor recommended" they don't want them
I think my counselor still submitted her rec
I think they require that
I'm talking specifically about teacher recs
wait, then what recommendations is niche talking abt?
no intl and oos are pretty similar
in some majors intl is slightly higher
niche is tripping
cs+x has a greater AR so if you want to go to uiuc look into that
then again depends on the X
math and stats are the most competitive
i applied CS+GGIS because i believe i have a very well defined geography spike in my app
I applied CompE already
cause I like compE more
oh i see
the difference is that CE mainly focuses on low level stuff right
like assembly, c and all that
yeah
and more hardware
though at UIUC CE and CS take mostly the same classes
i see
i applied cs+ling but ngl i kinda wish i applied cpe
the main reason i didnt apply to ce or even cs grainger for that matter is bc my math/physics/chem grades were bad
cs grainger bc im OOS and im not even remotely cracked
cs+x actually worked in my favor bc theres an X which aligns perfectly with my app's spike
and i have absolutely zero interest in taking another physics or chem class
physics is fine
im just bad at it
however i DESPISE and LOATHE chem
were those ap classes?
Only do it if you want to learn more about hardware.
🙃
Take this with a grain of salt since I'm in state, but I got into CS + Ling with 0 coding background at all, just a ling-focused background in terms of ECs along with good math grades. So many people doing CS + X majors have no actual interest in the + X side of things (including my roommate and the supermajority of CS + Ling students), and the admissions office knows this, so being passionate about the + X side can really help you if your computer science or STEM background isn't as strong.
The majority of CS + Ling students I've met are California residents who wanted to get into UIUC CS and wanted the higher acceptance rates and just wrote about large language models and ChatGPT on their applications...
They prob used ChatGPT on their essays as well
I know at least one person who has admitted to ChatGPTing some of their admissions essays.
I've come across maybe 1 CS + BioE major, so I really don't know
I mainly interact with CS + Ling majors since I share classes with them, but other than that I see a lot of CS + Math and CS + Physics majors. This is somewhat biased, though, as people in those majors tend to be online more in things like school Discords so I see them outside of shared classes.
oh ok
ketchup do yk any nukes at uiuc
Nuclear engineering majors? I've met one or two
yeah
💀 💀
like do you have any impressions or thoughts ab the people / the major
I only met them in passing, but from what they said the professors apparently directly told them "Don't expect to get a job in nuclear"
They were also pleasant to talk to compared to other STEM majors. CS + Math and CS + Physics especially attract a lot of people I'm not fond of
i agree
I will say, most people in CS + X majors (at least the popular ones) are just CS majors who applied for higher acceptance rates. Several people in my major have outright said they don't care about linguistics, which is really strange to me since I enjoy linguistics first and wanted CS knowledge for the specific side of linguistics I wanted to work with and it really felt like the "supplementary" part of the major to me
😔
that's sad
Although, once you get into the more niche CS + X majors like CS + adverticing or CS + music, the people are genuinely interested in the + X side of things and they're some of the most interesting people to talk to
There are also several people in CS + Ling who care about linguistics more than CS, but they usually are quieter and don't make themselves known since the major is dominated by people who only care about CS
In-state students actually tend to care more about the +X than OOS by a noticeable margin when compared to OOS
well in-state students would know uiuc beforehand while out of state students would be the ones to google the rankings and decide to apply based on that
I specifically am interested in speech synthesis and the audio processing side of things, which is really specific but which meant I could write a really good essay
This seems to be the case for a lot of people. OOS applicants often apply because they see it's a top whatever CS school, and then try to optimize their application by going + X
ooh so like sound engineering?
Less sound engineering and more speech synthesis like text to speech and speech to text.
yeah
ohh ok
In high school I actually made a speech synthesizer out of my own voice
like this stuff: https://otter.ai/
Otter.ai uses an AI Meeting Assistant to transcribe meetings in real time, record audio, capture slides, extract action items, and generate an AI meeting summary.
wait didn't you say you had nothing in the realm of cs
I said I did no coding. That was using pre-existing software and was more audio editing than anything else
oh ok
love the military
ez nuke job
im trying be a navy nuke on a sub
The majority of time I spent on that was creating a corpus of diphones in the given language then marking each for things like onset, release, etc
The software part amounted to me downloading some open source stuff online and following a tutorial
What makes me sad though is the recent rise of AI in speech synthesis, since I learned about the classical speech synthesis techniques a year or two before AI came to the fore and fell in love with it then, whereas now it's mainly just training a machine learning model and praying it works which is something I really don't like
Concatenative speech synthesizers have a special place in my heart because of their use in vocaloid music, and source filter models are incredible in how they mimic real human biology
yeah but those don't have the accuracy of the ones that you make by yourself id imagine
ai hell yeah
AI actually has some of the best results right now. Concatenative speech synthesis and source filter models are used where their other properties are needed, like source filter models working best when you have limited memory
wait how?
ai mid ngl
y tho 😔
Because speech is actually really weird and complicated we have a hard time replicating every detail, whereas AI can start to pick up on some of these patterns without consciously understanding them.
but srsly why mid :(
CS + statssssssssss
though that doesnt mean its bad
Text to speech programs as used for accessibility, though, stray away from AI as classic models have higher intelligibility even when they sound less "human"
bruh it saddens me when ppl make chatgpt be seen as all of ai as a field
didn't you say you barely have an interest in stats 😭
llms are like a subsect of ai
yeah
nuuuuuuuuuui just said i started taking the actual class this year
like i started very late
so i meant I had little to write about (or so i thought)
oh yeah theres a rly cool lab here that i was reading about that may interest u
https://engineering.purdue.edu/VIP/teams/cast
based on what uve been saying abt speech and ai
I love Purdue, great school
i found it super cool
uiuc is insane-er :D
Would've applied there if they had a linguistics major
My parents went to Purdue and my sister is currently getting her Master's there
wait we don't??
damn
Linguistics as a major is only offered in about 5% of all US universities (I went through all of these when looking for where to apply), and the majority of these are basically just English degrees instead of real linguistics
wait i forgot purdue and uiuc were different 💀
Legitimately how.
purduiuc
yeah dw i cooked up something
blud said "dw" schlawg YOU literally the competition 😭
nah bro everyone here is comp
including YOU (idk cs is prob exception)
oh
Speaking of admissions, I should call to take a look at my admissions record. I'm curious what it says
i thought it was like 3 categories like:
- cs
- grainger
- everything else
cs?
I asked purdue for mine
Literally just my commonapp
No comments or anything
@iron aspen
So underwhelming
Bruh really 😭
so you asked to see your admissions file
and they just handed yuou a copy of your common app 😭
wait they should monetize this
ooh what are these new name things
like collegeboard does
i should do that
Yeah lol
That's pretty funny. I might have more since I got into the honors college, but I'm not sure
they should make you pay like $20 to see your admissions file
Maybe yeah
I didn’t apply honors here
uiuc has separate honor college app? 💀
wait do you have to apply to honors
But everyone who applied honors and got into purdue got into honors
yuck
Not a seperate app, they just consider you as part of your normal application
or do they like automatically put you in
jk
oh ok good
no comp ty
And the Chancellor's Scholar program is 95% in state students, 4% OOS, and 1% international
R u oos?
In state
boutta be that 1% 🔥
Ah
There are LITERALLY 5 international students since the program only has ~500 students total
im gonna be one of them
The program directors explicitly say that the program is meant for in state students, so.
🫡
wait would i be considered international or oos
no greencard but have lived here 11 years
I haven't the slightest
and will graduate from a us hs
i think some may consider u international
maybe
depends on the visa you have
U have to check the site
my friend moved from india in 8th grade and is being considered international when applying to like stanford
so i think check the website
UIUC has 2 different types of honors. Chancellor's Scholars, or the CHP program, is a university wide honors that only accepts ~125 students every year. This is almost entirely Illinois residents, and they will email you if they reviewed your general application inviting you to the program with no further application required.
The other type of honors is James Scholars, which is much more common and usually what people are talking about when they say honors. This is college based, so Grainger reviews students with a major in Grainger, LAS reviews LAS students, etc. You can either choose to apply yourself (although I don't remember what's required for this), or the college will email you if they liked your general app and ask you to apply to the program,.
well it says that english proficiency is required for internationals
and i never had to do it
so ig im oos
uiuc pls accept me
yeah definitely, my stem background is less than ideal and would get me flat out rejected from grainger cs. i do believe my cs background is relatively good though, given my coursework in cs and my good grades in them, and i have faith that i articulated my passion for geo well enough and that will carry me for CS+GGIS
it was an alum not a professor
ackshually
this was literally my line of reasoning but as a huge geography nerd it felt like cs+ggis was literally calling my name
so
Looks like there's 22 current undergrads in that major. Only 3 freshman this year majored in that, so take that how you will
Seems really cool if you have an interest in geology
Work on your 124 MP or something
im not in that bum class
Okay.
go work on database or something
That was due on Thursday...
didnt u use extension
Because I was dragged into a poker game. I finished it at like 4am anyways
22 across all 4 years??
only 3 for the class of 2028????????
CS + Ling, one of the most popular CS + X majors, is only around 100 total. Most of the CS + X programs are really niche
goddamn they're tiny
Yeah
dyk where i can find these stats
they seem like OP backdoors into the program tho esp the niche ones
top 5 cs school
just demonstrate interest in like crop sciences or geography or advertising or whatever and youre in
stats, phy, and math tho prob need more work
and are more competitive prob
same for maybe econ and BioE
Stats, math, and physics are actually fairly strict from what I've heard. If you want to try and "backdoor", those are not ideal.
But here are the CS + GGIS stats
3 freshman, 5 sophomores, 4 juniors, and 10 seniors
thats actually crazy
cs+stats, econ, and math are the most competitive it seems
ling is tiny but not that tiny
yeah i'd imagine econ too
but physics seems tiny
yeah physics only has 45 ppl
cs+physics
cs + bioe was made
i think literally just last year?
and it was capacity constrained to 25 or 50 with 0 chance of an internal transfer
I can't find cs + econ on there anywher hm
i was gonna do cs + econ or cs + math
then i realized i didnt want to be a quant that badly
I did cs + econ
so i did cs + bioe
lmao i don't want to do quant
fintech?
oh valid
cs econ and cs math i think u can switch into both
so worst case
i just hop out of bioe and into one of the other ones
I don't really want to do anything with the econ aspect i just want to have the econ knowledge high key
valid
Cause i am really interested in it
yale has cs - econ too
ooh interesting
i appied for cs - psych rea but ill probably switch to cs - math
yeah they do
its northeastern
they have cs + behavioral neuro
interesting
they didnt give my ass a fee waiver
lowk shoulda asked
Oh that explains it
well you could also just put it down
Wait nah
"might as well keep the door open"
Fr
uiucs curriculum is cool cuz
But you the only other person who picked it that I've heard of
theres no
You my competition
hardcore bioclasses
Watch out
if ur from
the greater seattle area
then maybe
if not
then not really
😦
oh y'all are WA residents too?
u have 2 kids from around here added as mutuals LMFAOOO
im not either but im in the greater area
Same
yeah
The actual opposite
Bet
ur probably in wa tho
Think the exact other side of the country
LMAO
wait why do u have 2 kids from washington added bro
I'm from Florida
i thought you were gonna say like spokane 💀
bro one of the kids he has added goes to teh same like district
or a neighbouring district as me
i thought this guy would live like an hour away
which one
wtf that's weird
Oh nah
actual connection farmer
has udub sent portal yet
also do u ahve to submit official sat for them
i forgot but im gonna do it anyways
from my research apparently cs+ggis is the smallest cs+x major
nah bro 💀
they just today congratulated me on applying 10 DAYS AFTER I APPLIED
yeah
its the cs + random shit
dude ik is doing cs + advertising
Nah but I feel like for CS+X they compare across the country surely
Cuz theres only so many seats
lowkey i think it has a >90% AR bc barely anyone applies except people who are actually interested
probably will admit like 40 tho
yeah
more or less
but i guarantee theres just some random pure cs kids applying
Yrah
grainger cs has like a what 7% ar?
I'd rather do CS+BioE than pure CS ngl
or maybe thats just oos
eh
if i had my way id do cs major science minor
Cuz I want to do computational boology
but cs bio is cool too
18x greater chances of copping cs+ggis than grainger cs 💀
someone fix this software bug please
see i wanna do comp bio too
maybe not
but
u need grad school
to do the ml stuff
and ive realized
id rather not get a phd in comp bio
id just try to get a phd in vision
or ml
and then just work in bio applications
to not limit myslef
Idk if I'll go for phd
