Our school had an unusually high number of REA acceptances this yr and one of them was in the same intended major as me. I think it’s very unlikely that they’d accept ANOTHER international relations major from the same school.

Being a domestic Portuguese student -

• You take a free national exam, usually around June
• You calculate your college entrance score, for the lack of a better term (usually 55% national exam score, 45% grades, but it can vary!)
• You apply on an online website (which is centralized for pretty much every university) to the universities you want

After decisions:

• Each university has a cutoff score - there are no essays, it's solely based on your college entrance score (which is based on exam scores and grades)
• If you're above the cutoff, you get in - otherwise, you don't! But there's more to it than that
• Namely, you rank universities when you apply (by your own preference, not by USNews or anything), so you automatically get into the first ranked university you chose

There's a little more to it than that - there's basically a 1ª fase (equivalent of RD) and 2ª fase (which is like.. late decision? comparable to waitlist)
