I recommend submitting to the JEA/NSPA hs journalist of the year competition. (It’s for graduating seniors). Most prestigious hs journalism scholarship and a great way to build a portfolio

#

Only caveat is your hs newspaper teacher has to nominate you and they can only nominate one person

#

Yusss! It’s a lot of work but some states even if you don’t make nats give 5k+

#

I won my state which was 2k and then made it to nats which was another 3kish. Hugely helpful scholarship

#

And they like it when students show initiative and start papers it’s not just the super established papers
