so take this advice with a mountain of salt because... i don't go to stanford

but if you take a while to think about it

most of your problems you have are pretty deep rooted

i.e if you're depressed and you hate your life

the underlying cause is probably a lot deeper than that you're studying at the wrong institution

it could be because idk you dont take care of yourself properly or you're insecure or you're afraid of putting yourself out there and making genuine friendships

all of which will still be true no matter where you go to college

if you have no social skills at your high school and therefore have a lack of connection to other people which is why you're upset

u will be miserable at stanford cuz nothing's gonna change about the root cause

i think before your college app decisions come out

you should honestly just sit down one day and reflect about the issues in your life and why you think you ahve thos eissues

and if you were talking to someone else with the same problems what advice you'd give them (imo it's easier to figure out what to do next if you think about it this way)

and then just see to it that you make those positive changes so you can be happy no matter where you go to college and not be unhappy even if u get into ur dream school

the one area where this breaks down is when the root cause isn't actually anything wrong with yourself, but rather external conditions limiting what you can work with

i.e. can't go to the gym cause you have to write and stress about college apps

you have good social skills but there's not really that many interesting people at your school

in IB you have IA's for each class, a 4000 word extended essay, you have to write like 3000 different "reflections" for stuff, including your CAS activities, etc

the good thing about everything being combined and IB being like a side quest is you don't have to lock in too hard on all of that stuff
