I will tell you that each and every one of the students I knwo at an Ivy league first years have better connections and internships with politicians lined up for this summer, whereas this GTown student is heading back to their home state to intern with a local politication

I sing the same tune in all my responses; Ivy Leagues just have superior connections/networking. If you're good at networking, you'll thrive better doing it there. IF you're not that good at networking, maybe being at GTown will be a better option because you will have an easier time getting into the scene without any connections, but if you can put the work in def the ivy league

Sure it's sampling bias because I know more people from the ivy leagues being at Harvard, but the opportunities will probably be more elite in UPenn. Especially, liek you said, if they are not set on PoliSci.

GeorgeTown is a good school for government, it's got prestige in that regard. It's one of the most highly represented schools in the US Congress (2nd to Harvard 🙂 and sometimes 3rd to Stanford ) Yet, I would still heavily argue that at Penn you're just receiving a plethora more benefits, a bucket full of more options. Sure you can go ALL in on Gov like I did for CS and never change your mind and go straight for that, however with the rapidly changing landscape you have to consider a lot more when you're planning on going all in on government.

What are you going to do if you can't find an internship at GeorgeTown? Bite the bullet and go somewhere more local. What do you do if you can't find one at Penn? You'll find another one equally as prestigious through some random connection

Columbia was a test-case for Harvard, the administration tried and succeeded with Columbia so they went to the top (only to be absolutely GARBERED)
