Burnt out to a crisp last year
o
Oh yeah some honors kids I know are stupid. They’re not on this server tho
but i was also in the states
damn ok one more ray of hope
I think I'm generally on the higher end and also CS which is a more competitive major
but never give up until ur rejected
I got a decent application but I'm international so who knows
I was intl doing a levels with 1530 SAT
keep hoping
NERD
Shut
Eh
i missed the deadline this yr 😭
It is what it is
Python massive W
all it means is that ull just need to be planning ur schedule ahead of time
ENGR133 🤮
Yep
this is for most colleges
yeah its just that i wanna get out of all gen eds to save moneh
Or just DE at Ivy tech over summer
clep?
thats 2 grand bro
Do online classes at Ivy tech
ivy tech?
guys which of these grades do we think i pulled off on my physics final
I don’t have in state cuh
do we think i was able to pull a 76%
Girl what in the Russian roulette is this
2nd one
physics seems hellish
I did highschool robotics and that class is kinda crazy. Have to build a vex robot by myself from scratch with basically no experience 💀
calculating the grades i need on my final to get a certain letter grade
top is A, then A-, then B+, then B
In one semester
its icky
see in high school i wasnt really a robitics dude
i wanna get more into it here
Neither
like what is this
Ew
can you go to the moon to see the robot
worst of the two worlds
we go to florida
then this,,,
Damn
This sounds like two apes talking to each other
I'm disappointed in NASA
yea but kennedy space center
im putting lunabotics on my resume
I put aerial robotics despite doing fuck all there
Lunabotics just sounds like some feeder for drones for defense companies
its good cadding experience
the thing is a rover tho
That’s PSP PART and Lunabotics I feel like
but its autonomous
the software goats make this shit autonomous
its beyond me
but ive seen it work
my work is in excavation
making the buckets
experience is the greatest teacher
mfet taught me cad
i started horrible
ended great
Learn fusion 360
Nah I will learn fission -360
can intls work at nasa?
Is there a purdue singles group
im tryna do the fusion milestone thingy
What that
Is India a close ally? They're not in NATO or anything
yooo
W
india is basically its own thing atp
certifications
they switch sides so hard they now dont choose anyone
MILESTONES is a series of skills-based, micro-credential certifications on engineering and prototyping skills. Modules average 10 to 15 hours of hands-on practical training. Upon successful completion, students receive a digital certificate.
Can you dm me the link
usa doesnt give jack abt pakistan
I have dementia
ill send u the link when it opens again
Pakistan was pivotal to US operations
US also has a mutual self defense treaty with pakistan
Purdue seems like one of those colleges that has everything from psychology to dirt studies
we got bowling classes
wine tasting classe
we do got it
any of u inteerested in semiconductors?
I prefer full conductors
hell yeah
are there any muns or debates
The director of the national hurricane center is a purdue alumni
if u wanna check out all the clubs at purdue
Discover unique opportunities at PURDUE UNIVERSITY | BoilerLink! Find and attend events, browse and join organizations, and showcase your involvement.
Should I do Hello World Purdue
yep
free plant 🤔
"Some of the great things that have come out of Purdue ACM include PROS (an open source robotics operating system used by over 21 thousand users for VEX micro-controllers)" this is not the flex they think it is 💀
they can put that on their resume
i should really put lunabotics on my resume
Should I do Purdue robotics instead
they're doing mars which is bigger, further, and red
whcih purdue robotics?
oh those guys
yea u can
Boiler robotics club
u can any club u want
lunabotics is a bit bigger
but if ur more interested in martian rovers
totally
if ur also interested in space
we have psp
purdue space program
and purdue orbita
theyre more rockets based
but still
yea explore more clubs
it was the clubs that made me choose here
mostly
their rocket and space clubs are smaller than most other colleges
which means more hands on stuff
but purdue space program is like a blanket for so many space related stuff
Yea me too
Purple purdude
LET ME IN
real
Why Purdue:
PLEASE
Manifesting a decision on January 15th
it has in the past because the university was closed on the 15th because of MLK day/weekend
seeing as jan 15th is a wed this year i imagine itll actually come out on that day
!purdue
Purdue is raw prove me wrong
raw?
raw
Do define raw
stupid question, but as a female applicant do I have slightly better chances for admission?
does it matter to some extent?
yes
tf is aeteau
Chat how's Purdue for CompE
How is it compared to CS
easier? Harder?
Easier to get into?
Easier to get into, harder as a degree
both are really really easy, definitely their least competitive majors
i apply as an english major if you want a real competitive program in a growing job market
its #7 in us
its rly nic
e
but hard
as per what people say
Oh hello kingpin
do some decisions sometimes come out by late December? Some people are telling me that that happened last year and last to last year
Whats the m/f ratio like in Purdue?
iirc 57/43
damn
it’s wayyy more skewed in cs and most engineering majors though
some men will remain single 😔
it did not happen last year and it will not happen this year
bro forgot gay people exist
ece has a 2.0 first-year gpa requirement to get in compared to 3.2 for mech
oops
simply because people keep failing out of ece and they need more people 💀
wait say on god
i applied compe
theres hope for me
i doubt this
Why do RD decisions come out so late? I might loose it by the end of March
Same lol
Ppl apply rd?
uhh yeah
Gl
is it that bad🥲
acceptances come out way earlier btw
second week of march
the engineering here will truly change u as a person
well thats cause ece is super insane with their retention rate. i hear their classes are harsh
first year engineering has no reason to be so harsh
and hard
as in being very hard or easy?
yea maybe cs is a better choice
i'll just take my chances with cs
very hard
that shit aint easier
nothing is easy here
every upperclassmen talk about it as if its vietnam
simply u get better at doing the stuff and tolerating the stress or loadwork
well nothing is easy
im not tryna scare u
fair
just saying prepare for some challenge
yea
and stuff
i'd imagine purdue is really competitive for cs in the RD round
most likey
I know someone that got in caltech but not Purdue RD
yield protection?
I know another guy that got in Cambridge and CMU engineering but not Purdue RD
bro 😭
im cooked
whatever
i'll just take uiuc or end up at rutgers or stevens 😭
Oh you’re from NJ
yea
Bro UIUC is 10x worse
I mean I got in UIUC RD lol
for plain cs, yes
however
look at the major im applying to
for CS
Fair enough I got in for aero
@true heart
Yeah I’d go to UIUC for CS but I’m also no CS major
I've heard that the CS+x doesn't really help that much but that was on A2C so idk
i acc havent visited the rutgers flagship campus yet ( 💀 ) but stevens' campus is so damn beautiful
Ah I see
i have a spike in geography
cs+X has similar opportunities to plain cs tho
my essay is all about geography
i have an award in geography
- cs coursework and extracurriculars
also i talked to two people currently in the program and they approved my supps
You EAd right
yep
about half of mine are cs or cs related
I applied pure CS to UIUC
That’s good
I'm absolutely cooked
You see I didn’t dare try CS
that was my plan originally to shotgun pure cs but i realized that cs+ggis existed and that would be a million times better fit for me
pure cs is actual crazy
that’s why I applied to aero instead of mechanical at UIUC
I would have done CS+Atmos but that wasn't an option
so hard to get in
originally uiuc was like "hey this school is kinda okay lemme apply here but i wont be sad if i get rejected"
now im praying to get in and its my top choice
No
money notwithstanding
Pure CS is based
fair 😭
getting oos into uiuc pure cs is insane
My ass is going to get stuck doing that
Any idea of the acceptance rate? I've heard 4%
idk everywhere differs
Ain’t no way
but 4%.
It's just south of 20% for Purdue CS
20% isn’t that bad
That's probably a bit inflated though because applicant quality is lower
I mean I got rejected by 10/13 schools lmfaoooo
I’d say it’s similar
Both are well respected programs
Purdue is a T20 but UIUC is a borderline T5
Oh right it’s CS mb
- CMU
- MIT
- Stanford
- UC Berkley
- UIUC
where is iowa state
6
demoted for being in california
valid
bro this is like powerscaling
and just like powerscaling its really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things
It's not powerscaling they're all in the same universe
school rankings matter alot less than yall assume
powerscaling is like intl ratings
u can still powerscale in the same universe
its like powerscaling all of the fighters in one piece
in an arc
what are you talking about
america is the best country and has all the best schools
im saying that rankings and shit for majors is kinda irrelevant in the grand scheme of things
each of those schools u listed
its not what 💀
it is
Major ranking is MUCH more important than school ranking
ur not getting a wildly different exerience between those schools yall listed
at this level the academics are fantastic
its all about the other things they offer
Whats the point of going to a t30 if your major there is ranked like 200
It gives a good place to start. Like it's very useful in deciding between like UConn and Purdue for CS
well money
affordability
but if we ignore that
then what im saying is that in terms of academics
there aint a wild difference with those at the top
Purdue will always be better than uconn but i get what ur saying
essentially what it comes down to
is personal preference
with offerings there
maybe financial incentives
like scholarships
you didnt choose purdue based off “personal preference” did you
clubs u like more
i did
and why does purdue fit that “personal” criteria
i chose it because i had a financial incentive but i also had that with a few others
essnetially purdue fit my criteria for a few things
well ok it has the lowest oos tuition
Yeah but when choosing 6 schools to apply to or something there can be a lot of different factors. Also when placing reaches and targets.
So ranking is one factor
yesi totally understand that
major ranking is incredibly important and always will be
im just saying that when it comes to the actual academics of the instuttion
ur not missing out on much
between each college
thats not necessarily true
their rankings are based on the academics and suceess of the college
some programs provide very little assistance and guidance opposed to other schools
sure if you insist
There are certain areas where things shine through
oh for sure
like at my local uni, the career fair is pathetic. There are like 10 companies and they're all local
Purdue career fair is going to be a lot bigger and have many more CS opportunities
some students at my school chose unc charlottes medicine program, despite being a t300 school that program is t50
that’s where major criteria is important
what differes are the offerings of that degree
like for example, someone might choose vtech over purdue for engineering due to finacial incentives
or because they have a closer connection to the clubs there
or there is a professor they like there
purdue for cs literally has tech companies directly recruiting from purdue
or there are opportunties at the other school which provides best
u cant really match that at many other schools
but this also happens at other state schools
mit and stanford provide that aura
espcilly in the midwest
not like purdue
these schools have direct recruitment, yes industrial roundtable is the largest
Like at UIUC, UMich, UW Madison sure
but it dont mean its the only one
but those are all top schools
i am talking about top schools
i am not talking about the general overall
all fantastic cs programs
im still struggling to see what point youre making
once u hit the "top" schools for a major
then rankings become less relevant
because what really matters
is the extra stuff
profs
research opps
classes
research and elective depth matter too
seminars
yes
Like I would choose Penn over Purdue because they have much more elective depth in the areas that I find interesting
why do you think certain programs are ranked so highly?
those factors are included
thats what MAKES those programs so reputable and prestigious
Penn or university of penn
since when is upenn meh 💀
Probably a bit better than Purdue but not the only school I applied to
it's the best school I applied to with ED so that is why I EDed
Cool
Probably around rank #15 for CS
Are you doing CS?
Major rankings are important for purdue because i would not do anything else at purdue other tjan cs or ce
closer to #10 with AI
want to do CS+AI although idk how much AI
UIUC is really good for CS
I applied there
Nice
but they got like 4% accept rate for OOS 💀
bruh
crazy
Yeah I've never seen it with any other college
24%
where did you hear this
u could get in undecided and switch
I'll get you
Very very difficult
not for undecided
not worth it at all
I'm not that much of a prestige whore
could totally be worth it
i would never
just an option
prestige for a reason
why does gender matter
demographic curation
well ig less males are admitted
that’s ridiculous
That's stanford level 💀 although hopefully it's biased because of lower applicant quality
To get into a major with a 4% acceptance, the other applicants better be really fucking stupid
bruh this is Purdue chat
mid school
UIUC gets a lot of good CS applicants
Honestly probably not
And many are rejected
yeah no shit 💀
UIUC probably gets cream of the crop
im ready for my hard rejection
im just saying to get into
but the question is if it's as cream of the crop as Stanford
they definitely do
its not, so if you get into uiuc for cs you probably have a decent shot at mit and stanford
link?
is that a good thing or a bad thing
idk what good programs let in 84% of applicants lmao
Very few people apply for nuke but most are accepted
60 OOS applications
50 accepted
exactly so if i get uiuc i'd consider myself to have won the college apps process
wait hold on maybe the 2022 number was a fluke or smth. This is 2021 and 2020
No
a kid from my school last year is going to uiuc cs+stats
It is going down
How did it drop 11% in one year
Because tons of people are applying
And UIUC's campus is not expanding at a rate to support more students
is uiuc an overall t20
they also just might be letting in less people for more prestige and attention
Correct
no.
oh ok
uiuc? in MY purdue chat?!
They don't even report the rate
I would agree
bro its t5

I don't keep up with CS stuff cause I'm a nuke
lol
But you guys have it tuff out here ngl
well i have northeastern cs on the table
idk about northeastern as a school
but their cs isnt so bad
Middington
They are the model school for artificial prestige
And also in the midst of a housing crisis
I would avoid but if that's your only choice and you fw Boston then no harm I guess
Sure they have an artificial acceptance rate, a lot of schools do
Isn’t literally every school?
Yeah but apparently NEU was having a particularly tough time
According to this Boston family of an NEU freshman last year I was staying with
yeah
who cares lmao
you either have good housing or save money
Having no housing is stressful af
Some guy in this channel also was having a tough time with Purdue housing
Like tweaking out
theyll make sure you have housing no matter what
It worked out for him
Yeah purdue had a bad housing issue this year
WHAT A FUNNY JOKE
HAHAHA
no
Yeah they don't gaf lol
Oh idk abt neu
Some schools can be fucking brutul
Idk NEU is just mid
For cs its great
yeah
gonna weigh my options
Ok
and ur going to the army?
Army ROTC @ MIT
Have you gotten into MIT
I find out Tuesday
goodluck lol
Thx
it might prestigous, but that prestige aint saving us fye students
so damn hard
so damn hard
thats true
but life is hard, some programs are tough regardless
at certain schools they help and some schools like unc for cs they are just brutal
and will actually just try to weed you out
we can tottaly say weed out classes are hard
until u take a weed out class
and its not that its hard
but unusually hard for what theyre teaching
(engr 133)
fuck that class
then you are doing well
how supportive is purdue
we are just tryna pass
for your engineering classes
help is available when its needed
its just that these concepts are damn hard
it went from i was a 3.5+
to i want at least a 3.0
i got humbled
first midterm
humbled
i can only imagine it would suck really bad if you were studying something really hard at a great school, and you just didn’t get support
i am NOT that guy
like i would not go all the way to uiuc and have to switch to business because i got academically stranded
imposter syndrome is like super easy to get
damn already 💀
shits wicked
i got fucked by these classes
does college gpa even matter THAT much tho
i have all As in everything but the important classes
for purdue yea
if u wanna do engineering
theres specific gpa
oh really
how do they weed u out
for mechE i need a 3.2
ye same for carolina
thats not terrible
aero is like that
see its not terrible looking afar
but with the subset of classes
i took
cause i came in with credits
the fye classes just were somethign else
yeah
me too
i absolutely despise it
ur lucky
and i genuinely just gave up
in hs
yeah
i kept on getting 50s and 60s in chem
it literally took an insane academic comeback
to measle out a 90
my teacher also fucking sucked tho
im talking miracle on ice level combacks
i dont want to make excuses but she had personal grudges with students
that is not an excuse
and she was on the verge of getting fired so she stopped giving curves
that is a good arguement
this kinda is
but it is what it is if i wanted an A i wouldve gotten one
its not, she gave us a hardly curriculum because she knew her time was almost up
there are calc 3 profs at purdue who tell their students not to come to lecture
cause they will not teach
damn 💀
My physics teacher doesnt “teach” but shes still a good teacher
then we got whatever the fuck is going on with calc 2
Like if you ever need help with anything, she can explain any concept
god bless those souls
have you taken calc 2 yet
i skipped that shit
i am not
nor am i ever
gonna take that shit in purdue
if ur gonna come here
skip it
dont take it
dont say oh i need to adjust to college
so ill start over
bad idea
if u got credit
use it
well i dont think purdues gonna let me in
but in the case that they do and i go ill be mindful
also
they let people in with less
is it true that purdue has like bad mental health issues
yes
and people unalive
yes
yeah
its all bust
for good students
u dont gotta be "good"
u gotta be persistent
being smart simply gets u half way
its grit
its perserverance that gets u to the finish line
i aint smart
im average
im still not gonna give up
or be detered cause theres folks better than me
we all on different paths
also even tho its a "smart" school
theres alot of dumbasses here
ngl
what is purdue's acceptance rate for ME
bro u are applying to fye
i applied to mechE as well
ill just say if u did ea
u have better chances
ok i will give a piece of advice even outside if u get in or not
with purdue mechE
the easy part is getting in
but to answer ur question
fye around 40 percent
might be 30 this year
also idk if u know
but if u get in ur gonna have to do fye
and then get into mechE
like what im tryna do
dyk the GPA req for nuke
whats that
nuclear engineering still goes under fye
first year engineering
at purdue
all applicants for engineering
who get accepted
go into the first year program
yea for FYE to nuke
where they have to take first year gen ed classes
u just said there are maj gpa reqs
to then apply for their top engineering
apply??
yes
u gotta do it again
so purdue makes u take their own classes
so u get a taste of engineering
and if u get a 3.2
u get guaranteed into any engineering
for most a 3.0 is the requirement
to answer ur question rez
ece is like 2.0
but thats cause that major is like low on retention
those classes are wicked hard
u better not lol
it is that bad
see the thing is that
these classes vary
some folks say theyre easy
others say theyre the worst things theyve ever done in their damn lives
some of em are weedouts
pure weedout, tryna get on ur nerves typeshit
the gpa will be in mind
but some of these classes will really annoy ya
for me chemistry did more than annoy
i have nightmares
i never wanna see orgo chem in my life
but its super fun
i personally feel that fye does help u have a better idea of what u really wanna do
things like the learning communities has alsp helped
so its gonna be hard but thats college
and heres some resources for fye if yall dont know
SAME
damn
i hated every second of ap chem
also what about physics c mech
oh ap chem
i feel liek i can get a 5
dude i got an 81 in honors chem 💀
like why is it so fucking hard
i had an 89.2 in honors chem and an 85.5 in honors chem 2
idfk
And WHY is the teacher off the streets
honors chem 2 sounds like death
i hated sophomore year bro
physics cooked my ass
bc a russian phd old man taught it
sophomore year i thought i was going to trade school so i just gave up
and i barely understood what was going on
now im paying the price
are u tryna do engineering?
my gpa tanked throughout hs
i think it increased just in time for college apps tho
from 11th to 12th
same
A 4.1 w is still criminal tho
my school doesnt even have a weighted
hopefully senior year all A’s will tell the really story 🙏
yea that’s brutal
my english grade

i had a B+ in ap bio, B in ap stats, and a B+ in ib lit lang hl first tri 😭
i have a A in every class but english 💀
💀
ik someone with a 4.4 js because sophomore year english
that class was literally the trap
there was no learning just straight trap
ch*mistry
fax
https://engineering.purdue.edu/ENE/Academics/Undergrad/FYE/AP the black bloded ones are the ones credit quialfy for
this is for engineering
ap lit is just fairy tales
tyty
so i have to get a 5
sigh
bruh last year we did hamlet in ib lit lang hl and i didnt even read past the first page
im good at physics so calm
this year we did jane eyre and same thing
i didnt read past the firsr page
now we're doing another book and i didnt even read past the first page
i do not like reading fictional books lmao i just use sparknotes and summaries
fr
they;re always boring
the only time in highschool i actually “cheat”
none of them are ever good
except kite runner if that was ever assigned reading anywhere
kite runner is my favorite book bro
came in clutch in a quizbowl tournament yesterday
my favorite book is just the harry potter trilogy
theres 7 books
my favorite series is the legend series by marie lu
thats some peak writing right there
books arent real
ye
No Purdue RD is just impossible
dont lie
its hard
not impossible
the jobs not done until its done
I did
I could’ve gone to UCSB and live that Cali life but why would I want that
stinky
simple
purdue is a better vibe tho
i dont feel like im surrounded by snobby rich folks
yippepe
can anyone tell me the subject requirements and stuff from IB for AI major at purdue (i tried the website i literally odnt understand it i think im autistic)
meaning?
like what courses u wanna waive thru IB?
yea
lemme get the link
no wait
i eman
which courses
are required
for me to get admitted into purdue
like math is a mandatory subject
something like that
yk
oh
uhhhhh
no idea lol
but i got the link tho :D
this link is sorta "criteria": https://www.admissions.purdue.edu/apply/criteriafreshmen.php
here are even more specific requirements: https://www.admissions.purdue.edu/apply/highschoolcourses.php
Yurr i saw that already
Dude what the he@ll is lab sicnece
i have engliush 4 years
math 4 years
Social studies i only took it as a freshman and sophomore tho 😭
What the hell is worldl anguage
i didnt take chemistry is that a problem
im applying cs tho
ok now i get it when yall say its cold as fuck there
i cant even bear 20 degrees celsius
idek why
bro where are u from
its 8 degrees celsius and im in GEORGIA
not 20 but 15 yeah
india
crazy
oh ur intn
yea

bio, chem, physics, etx
Fr
for general sciences do u have a choice or is it only chem
i cannot do chem
as part of the degree requirements?
yea
what major are you hoping to do?
cmpe
any engineering requires chem
AUGHHJJJJESS
no likey
i'd rather kms than study organic
nah i like acc hate chemisty
gen chem might have been the worst porfomance in a class ive ever done
organic is jsut straight up subject brought specially from hell
if ur doing engineering, u gotta do gen chem which is an overview of inorganic, physical, and some organic
im very confused b/w comp eng and comp sci
comp eng is an engineering major
which makes u doing fye first
comp sci is in the college of science
which has its own requirements
no like
picking which major
one part of me HATES coding 24/7
but then i feel like i cant handle comp eng
atleast its gonna come to light incase of comp eng
ur lower level classes are coding
no
Can anyone give me any idea about ag programs in purdue
ag?
Is it competitive like other sciences to get into
Agriculture
oh demn
