From what I've heard, I think top colleges only really want transfers that would have a lot to gain, if that makes sense
If you're at a college that doesn't have many opportunities and you want to transfer to, say, HYPSM - and you're actually capable of handling it - then you probably have a higher chance
I'm pretty sure they're not looking for prestige chasers though, or people who just want in on the brand name / who already have the same opportunities and might not "need" it, if that makes sense

Tbh just pick the college you'd be happier with - from what I've read, time and time again, that's the one thing that consistently matters after a while
The connections you'd make and the quality of education is important, obviously, but it's more of a minimum bar than the most important metric; if you think you'd really thrive at a school, then that's what matters!
