I will say that the self-selection of students in the server hasn't been very positive on the receiving end. Although I was quite confrontational and I'll admit that, it also wasn't very pleasant when I asked about a career path and the first responses included "don't sell out," etc. or just questioned why I wanted to do it rather than answering my question. I've seen similar situations in other question threads, where current students overemphasize their own negative experiences and project them on us rather than trying to give a candid answer
we know MIT isn't perfect like any other school, but the way it's been going, it hasn't been easy to maintain a positive atmosphere
no matter what happens in there, I know this is only a self-selecting subset of the real community at MIT, and that the real place is much more badass than anything anyone in the server will ever admit. I won't lose hope in that respect and I know I'm in the right place ❤️
