That being said, the acceptance rate among people here in A2C (at least, the ones that responded to the discord poll that always gets put out) is consistently around 5~10%

Actually nvm you might be right, it was 21% of A2Cers this EA round (sample size of 56)

But there were likely a lot of people who got rejected who didn't want to answer
I think 10% overall is a pretty reasonable estimate

I mean, sure, but the essays, letters of recommendation, different application platform, etc. are a pretty significant barrier of entry
It really isn't anywhere near as simple as in a lot of other countries (I have no idea about the UK, but here in Portugal it takes very little effort lol)

That being said, there are a lot of people doing it pretty much just to tick a box, or because they're shotgunners - I think most people are still serious about applying though

(Granted my perspective is probably biased bc I had to prepare a lot - I'm the only person I know asking for letters of recommendation, English translated transcripts, etc. (I had to explain to my principal what a counselor was lol))
(It's probably a lot easier to apply if you're from a school where everyone already has that)
