Intended major: Computer Science/ Engineering

UMass Amherst
Pros:

  • The Food
  • Has a bit of a name for itself
  • I did want to go to a university and not LAC from the start
  • Close proximity to Boston and the East Coast

Cons:

  • Higher COA - $50,000
  • The weather can be harsh, especially in winter.
  • Admitted to Computer Engineering (don’t mind that but would’ve preferred Computer Science)
  • Kind of rural campus.

Denison
Pros:

  • Steve Carell went there!!
  • Lower COA - $30,000
  • Admitted to Computer Science
  • Near Columbus

Cons:

  • Didn’t really wanna go to a LAC
  • Not near a coast (I like coast)
  • Less known

Rutgers NB
Pros:

  • Near NYC
  • Admitted to Computer Science

Cons:

  • Higher COA - $58,000

Penn State
Pros:

  • Admitted to Computer Science
  • Feels more like a typical college which I like

Cons:

  • Higher COA - $55,000
  • Kinda far from major cities
#

Tiebreaking considerations:

  • Importance of attending a university versus a liberal arts college.
  • Weight placed on location preference, considering proximity to major cities and coastal areas.
  • Value of program reputation and potential career opportunities post-graduation.

if u can afford COA id suggest Rutgers based on your preference of being near major city and having good post-career opportunities. UMass is cool too but you're computer engineering, and u can def get SWE opportunities with CE (or even EE like me) but like it depends on whether you'd be okay with hardware and electrical engineering classes
