Location/Region: Don't rly care—i just want access to opportunities especially for SWE/quant

Major: CS, Math, Physics, Computer/Electrical Engineering

GPA/Test Scores:

  • Competitive public high school in DFW, TX; ugpa 3.96/4.0, wgpa 5.0/6.0; not top 10% bc of moving around
  • Moved from a high school that has deflated grades to one that has inflated grades
  • Extreme course rigor (calc in freshman year, multiple math DEs like calc3/diffeq/linalg, ap physics C, ap chemistry, etc.)
  • Upwards trend (went from low to mid 90s in freshman year to like 97 average in junior yr
  • 1520 PSAT, predicted 1600 SAT (consistent with all of my practice tests)
  • 5 on all AP tests except for CSP in frosh yr

Costs:

  • Currently on H4 status, might be able to switch to Advanced Parole
  • Guaranteed NMS semi so places that have good merit scholarships for NMS
  • Looking for schools that also consider undocumented students as domestic
  • Will apply full-pay everywhere that isnt need-blind/in state/doesnt consider as domestic

Schools You're Currently Looking At:

  • High Reaches: MIT, CMU SCS, Stanford, Berkeley EECS, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Caltech
  • Reaches/High Targets: UChicago, GaTech CS/CpE, UIUC CpE/CS+X, USC Engineering, UMich CS-Eng, UT CS
  • Targets: UW Madison
  • Safeties: TAMU, UT Dallas
  • Unis outside the US: JMC at Imperial, JMC at Oxford or Math at Cambridge, CS/Math honors at Waterloo

i put a lot of schools as high targets ngl

#

but my reasoning is that if im paying way more for a marginally better university (since TAMU is a t50) its not worth it

#

so if theres any universities that give good aid to h4/undoc students other than hypsm lmk

#

im instate for TAMU so i pay like 15k/yr + i have nms so some eligibility for merit scholly

if ur gonna cut, prob take off umich

#

unless u rly wanna go to umich

#

hella expensive

#

ur list looks fine tho, ur just gonna have to grind during regular decision cycle

#

umich seems like a rly chill school and they have a cool math honors program

#

or well

#

i think the top category should be hihg reaches

#

and the rest are reaches/high targets

#

if you're looking at math specifically i would put uchicago higher in terms of both difficulty & reputation, not too familiar w their cs stuff

mit has a good variety of classic supps but no personal statement, stanford has common app pers statement + similar variety of supps (can be easily used a starting pt for many schools), uchicago has a pers statement but v few supps & one of them is a "quirky" one
