UFlorida Honors vs UMass Amherst

Schools: University of Florida vs University of Mass Amherst
Intended major: Computer Science

I recently got honors for University of Florida. I am out of state for both schools. I got 16k Merit Based aid for UMass.

Money isn't really an issue, I just want to know which one has the better program.

UMass Amherst has a better CS program from what I know so definitely go especially if you have the merit based aid. I also believe it’s cheaper?

The thing is I got honors for Florida. Is Florida honors still worse than umass

Honors doesn’t matter much

Both programs are good, any ranking won't be able to capture all aspects of what makes one program better than another

I would look at each school and see which one has job placements into careers you're interested in, electives that fit your interests the best, things like that

Yeah but my friend has gone to UMass for CS and my cousin went to UF for CS the reputation of UMass is stronger in the market and the research opportunities at UMass is unmatched. I’m not saying UF is bad in fact it’s still respected but depending on his interests he should examine both. A benefit of UF is that you’re in a big city while Amherst is a small town.

It's a lot more complicated than just "better program" bc there's subjectivity to that :)

Well yeah ofc that’s also a factor I used since I got into top uk schools but I don’t have much family there while I do in cal so I have a tough decision to make to decide on which one would be best for me especially as I’m going to be younger and might not have anyone to help me in case anything happens in the uk
