Schools: University Of Florida, Florida State, and University of Miami
Intended major: Journalism/broadcast media
Similarities: all close to home, all top 60~ colleges, all have decent to great sports which i need for my major.
Differences: FSU is better for media degrees, UF is better at sports (outside of football), Umiami is top 3 public schools for journalism, and i know UF's campus more than FSU/UM.
#UF vs FSU vs UMiami

while umiami is a great school, i think its cost is simply too high for it to be in the running vs two state schools with crazy academics and crazy cheap tuition
FSU also is in the state capital, which for journalism can be very important
i may be a tad biased but overall id rank the three schools as FSU>UF>UMiami for journalism
but i really dont think you can go wrong with any of the choices, theyre all great schools
go uf
i think uf or fsu tbh
umiami not worth it
i plan to do sports journalism, however
the goal is to be a cameraman/producer for a sports company/espn, or go intertational and work in other sports
i see
i think both school's programs are on a level playing field, then
go to the one which you would prefer to be at for 4 years
like which campus/city/environment would you prefer
Tallahassee is a lot more rural and small compared to Gainesville or Miami and has what goes along with that and I would definitely keep the city’s environment in mind
not compared to gainesville, no
tallahassee metro has 381k people
gainesville metro has 348k people
although, gainesville is more centrally located so is a bit close to other metro areas like orlando and jacksonville
Tallahassee sure feels more rural
I’m actually surprised the metro area is bigger
2, i'm doing community first, easier chance of getting in + im saving up.
I might do 4, if there's a masters option
i believe both schools offer a combined bachelors/masters option
yea, but then i also dont know if i want to stay 4 years. i was considering doing FSU as my undergrad, and UF as my graduates
im considering doing the same lol\
but yeah, both schools are great and theres no big dealbreakers for either
the thing that sucks is i was going to try and apply senior year, but im being forced to graduate early due to credits 😭. bright futures is fucking carrying right now
oof
yea. ik UF's campus more, but ik FSU is doing AMAZING with football and basketball, and i wanna try to go to both ig
well if you're doing CC first, thatll give you a year or two to familiarize yourself with each school more
id definitely apply to both as a transfer
ik the CC im planning on going to has a lot of transfers that go to UF/FSU
but im lowkey worried about missing out on that freshman experience
yeah, thats something that a CC cant replicate
i mean, if i go junior year i'd be 19.
so.. im like freshman age ish
sophmore age
you would still have 2 years of being active in clubs and organizations on campus
so you wont have the "freshman experience" but youd get a pretty complete college experience me thinks
i mean, true, also i do kinda wanna party a bit. so i might be able to stay for 3~ years to do both bach/masters?
i personally like fsu better than both
their games are impressive
the campus reminds me of University of Southern California tbh (I’ve been to both)
u could easily travel for games regardless of the school you attend because they play against each other anyway
& you might be able to go to alabama too
here are some pics i took while i was there of the campus! (the last one isn’t)
the first one is their sports museum (?). something sports related tho
UM is too expensive imo and UF seems a little boring to me
FSU just seems more fun & people are really involved in the sports & culture
it also seems a lot more "laid back"
which definitely appealed to me and is part of why im going there
it def appealed to me too! if i stay in florida for college i def want to go
In terms of academics uf is better
But yea prob more boring
And their football team is down bad rn
Their upcoming schedule this year is insane
overall sure but it’s major dependent
UF is stem and medicine, FSU is liberal arts
what about classics?
i would assume FSU as i believe that falls under liberal arts
