#Pre-Med EDII Choice: Vandy V.S. Emory

Schools: Vansy V.S. Emory
Intended major: Vandy - MHS (or BME), Emory - Biology (Dual GaTech Engineering)
Similarities: High rank school, good med school, great pre-med resources

Vandy
School 1 Pros:

  • Botanic resources
  • "More prestigious (top 15)"
  • Cheaper

School 1 Cons:

  • Grade deflation
  • Way 2 much Greek Life? (kinda stereotypical view from Reddit)
  • more competitive? Heard Vandy premed is extremely difficult (weedout courses + low class exam avgs)

Emory
School 2 Pros:

  • Many med intern programs
  • volunteer in hospital&hospital within campus
  • premed difficulty is not extreme but challenging

School 2 Cons:

  • No engineering major (but have a dual)
  • apparently has a lack of school spirit and social scene.
  • Heard lots of people complain about the fact they didn't get into better schools and all that stuff.
  • "less prestigious (top 25)"

Tiebreaking considerations:

  • There is another choice which is not doing ed2 since I kinda wish to get accept to schools like UCB or UCSD (but harder to get into med school?)
  • I personally think my Vandy essays are better than Emory's

And I am an international student so whether which school I choose it will be hard (RD is way mroe harder)silly

personally i think emory is the go to premed school and they have a hospital right on campus as well
