Schools: BU vs Wellesley
Intended major: At BU it would be biochem + molecular bio, at Wellesley it would be Biochem
Similarities: location, acceptance rate, prestige

BU
School 1 Pros:
reminds me of the bay area where I grew up, literally in the city of Boston which I think is cool, the buildings look cool and it kinda overall reminds me of sf/sj, decent for my major
These can be things like weather, location, school atmosphere, curriculum, cost of attendance
Really anything that’s important to you can be included here

School 1 Cons:
im kind of worried abt how many ppl are at the school cause its really big, i couldn't actually tour the school and only kinda walked around outside, i don't know if bu i worth the private school tuition cause my family's too well off to get fin aid

Wellesley
School 2 Pros:
i loved the campus so much it was so pretty and the buildings were gorgeous, women only also sounds cool, smaller campus size so not as overwhelming for me, the vibe there is super cool

School 2 Cons:
fewer major options, a bit further away from boston itself

Tiebreaking considerations:
which i have a better chance at tbh

obviously i’m just a little biased butttt
it sounds like you’re more in favor of wellesley’s campus culture with it being a small lac/hwc, and bu is basically the total opposite of that with ~17k undergrad. i totally get that as someone who also was nervous about attending a larger school and almost exclusively applied to small lacs (outside of my in state safeties)

i’m on finaid so im admittedly not as knowledgeable when it comes to tuition in cases like yours, but from looking more into bu (if you also didn’t get aid at wellesley) wellesley would be anywhere from 4k-6k more expensive so that’s definitely something to consider

wellesley is further away from boston than bu is ofc since bu’s in the city itself, but it’s still pretty accessible/easy to get off campus and into the city. there are shuttles that go straight into cambridge and boston that are free on weekdays and $3 on weekends, and the commuter rail stop in wellesley square isn’t a far walk from campus

bu as a research uni definitely has more options for biochem, but i will say that i feel like bioc is one of the more supported stem majors here!! admittedly not extremely knowledgeable on that tho

always willing to give more advice as someone who got into wellesley ed2!! wishing you luck either way bc you’d get a great education at both

BU is (imho) a bit stingy with need-based aid but still gives good merit aid if youre 100% sure you cant get aid at either institution

#

wellesley on the other hand gives no merit so maybe bu is cheaper than you may think?

uneven tide
#

Yeah i probably won’t get merit aid either

#

What I meant was that like, it felt like Wellesley would be worth the money but I don’t know enough abt bu to feel the same if that makes sense

#

I can afford college either way

#

It’s just like, if im paying that much I want to choose a school I like you know what I mean?

no ikwym, if your family can afford the coa for both schools no matter what then i’d go with wellesley!! it definitely sounds like you like it more than you do bu and if your fam is paying that much for college either way then you might as well be somewhere you enjoy

#

in terms of quality of education both would be “worth the money” since you can afford both, but in terms of which one it sounds like you actually want to attend based on what you mentioned i’d say go with wellesley alphaw
