For current berkeley students - I was admitted into l&s and was wondering how difficult it would be to transfer/double major in stats in cdss - also wondering what the process is and if there's a way for me to start the declaration process before my fall semester

I can explain it to u😭

a. the clubs / student orgs are insanely hard to get into for premed

even if u wanna pursue club sports u have to be really good

b. grade deflation

classes are hard af and the curves are not always generous. in my math 1b class you have to compete against everyone else to get an A

like for example i worked my ass off first semester and ended with a 3.57

while it’s true premed reqs are the same everywhere, berkeley makes it harder

a lot of ivies have grade inflation

and stanford too

c. clinical opportunities are hard to get too

the main clinical hours are through suitcase clinic (super selective club) and berkeley free clinic (also super super competitive)

i got rejected from both of those

and ik a lot of others who did too

and those apps take up tons of time

like the berkeley free clinic app was 9 essays long

d. ucla grading system is more fair

i’ve heard ucla is slightly easier

berkeley academics are def harder

berkeley is so much about grind culture and academics. a lot of people there have one purpose and that is to get to their next point in life

and while that is valid

they don’t care about making genuine connections

the only really thing i like about the school are some of the people

and also the fact that berkeley academics are unmatched. it is really fun to learn here and all of us are going down together so it makes it easier in a way
