okay so hopefully this helps anyone doing an interview

• i applied wharton as a canadian
• my interview was 1 hour
• he first asked what my parents do, where i was born, where they were born, and why i didn't apply to penn ed (i told him financials)
• then he asked what i want to do at penn
• i then asked him about polarization at penn (he didn't fully agree with what i was saying)
• then the part that i almost cried at: he caught on that i was sending him prepared lines so DONT OVERPREP, and then he talked about how he's been doing interviews for decades and can catch on if people are just sending him lines. he said he's interested in seeing HOW people think
• then he asked what clubs/activities i do, and why i do them
• we talked a lot about dress codes (lol we had very different views on them but i think i explained my viewpoint well enough)
• then he asked what other universities i applied to
• and then i got to ask him questions. ask about greek life if your interviewer is old, they love it! i told him i don't like cities (LOL penn is in a city.... but told him im open to trying new things in college and he seemed like he liked that)

overall, he told me that 95% of your decision is in the AOs hands, but the interview confirms who you are. in other words, if the AOs are sure about your decision, the interviewer won't do anything. but if you are on the margins, the interview could help/hurt you.

tldr: be yourself, don't overprep, and know why you want to go to penn

he stopped me there and told me that he's not interested in me name dropping things. he said he's been doing interviews for 20 years and that he can tell when people aren't being geniune or trying to be "socially-correct" (which is crazy cuz i didn't even realize what i was saying sounded "prepared")
