social studies is a weird concentration and generally I recommend against it. It’s a committee - taught mostly by three year lecturers not tenured profs - and it’s better to be in a department. ppl in the dept will have priority over you in classes. and when it’s rec letter time, some of your lecturers will have left. ymmv tho

CPB is the smallest one - or maybe that’s Chem-Phys, iirc everyone who does CPB goes to med school lol and I know a MD-PhD too, Chem-phys is more phd oriented and prob the hardest, CPB the hardest of the bios but people are v close. but honestly as Abstract said you have to take the same intro classes anyway so no need to decide rn, just more about how you vibe w the dept and the classes you’d have to take. You can be premed easily with any of them.

If you want to do math or stat, the easiest route is a joint where math is the allied field. You only need 5 classes in math to get the joint. For ref you need 4 CS classes to get the CS secondary

also lots of people like LS50 but it takes up your whole life for a year so if you wanna be v close w the people it’s a good experience but you do miss out on some of the more “typical” freshman experiences
