My why CALS essay was pretty even, about half why major and about half why CALS, but I thought it may have been too top heavy with my discussion about my major so I had a few adults read it who said it was ok. Just spend however many words as you want or need on each part, but make sure it's not too unequal like 100:550 you know? There's a reason why half the prompt is asking about your major!!

That's wild, if this is the case they should have postponed this decision to the next cycle. A lot of students (like me) ED to a school because they want to be put in a process where they gain a benefit from their binding commitment. If Cornell makes the ED and regular round similar in acceptances, ED just becomes an early RD or just an RD with bumped rates for legacies.
