But today I got a finaid email and from there I clicked on Forgot my Password and manually got my portal credentials. Even though I can access the actual application portal I can't access the finaid portal with my student ID. Should I send an email or wait till they sort it out?

And yes, by doing that it's possible to access your portal early. I did the same for Tufts after they sent me an application email thinking I was supposed to log in, and then they sent the actual portal login

Depending on the portal your school uses (not college) like naviance typically students need to request transcripts in order for them to be sent
