#All UCs 🐻🐮🐴🐱🐶🔱🤠🐌 (2023-2024)

housing dining and hospitality
really admin is bad at every public school so it's not a ucsd specific thing
interesting, cause for me i thought the staff have been great and was the best part of my time at ucsd, granted im only speaking on behalf of eighth college since thats within my scope of experience.
was super supportive of me transferring
i glaze ucsd a lot on here because i want to dispel any idea that it's a safety school
which a lot of people here seem to hold
Because they wanted you gone /j
Btw are your roles right
Yes that’s fair
Also wasn’t eighth college new this year how did you already transfer out
rly depends on the person i guess.
your "reach/dream" schools are rly gonna determine what u classify as a target or a safety
cause its not comparable to put harvard with ucsd under reach if your reach schools are ivy tier
i think that for most people here ucsd is a hard target
i withdrew in favor of CC, cause i can get IGETC done faster than i can get uc letter of reciprocity done
i took a lot of CC courses throughout high school, so i guess it ended up helping me a lot with transfer within 1 yr
Are you doing IGETC for STEM at least? IIRC normal IGETC isn’t recommended usually for majors in stem
Idk fs tho this is basic research on my end
it doesnt matter
cause so long you complete normal igetc + you have lower div major coursework completed
you're good
ucla or berk, but mainly just berkeley
cause its close to home and has a better tech scene in terms of opportunities for career
Fair enough
oh yeah also IGETC for stem is only available if youre going for an associate degree for transfer which im not
cause i dont rly care for the associate mainly just want to transfer and get the bachelor
I see
Berkeley would’ve been nice if their major reqs for my major wouldn’t have pushed me from taking upper divs until senior year
Idk if they’re weird like that for every major
Is this weighted or unweighted
😢
i have no clue tbh
i just followed the uc gpa website instructions on how to calculate
uc gpa is technically weighted but they only count i believe 4 honor/ap courses per year
actually just read this lmfao
Oh so weighted
Depends which uc and the context of your school
can you elaborate on what you mean by the context of my school
Like if your school offers very few APs and you took most of them but that’s why your gpa isn’t super duper high, that would be different than if your gpa is around avg for your school and you didn’t do well in several classes
wait how would having few AP classes mean you have a lower GPA
doesn’t the UC weighting for GPA cap out at + 8 points thoight
Not ucla/berkeley they do fully weighted
Some schools have less than 8 weighted classes (my school was like this)
I thought the weighting was + 1 point for every letter grade
so for one class, 2 semesters in a year
it would be +2 points?
I believe that’s correct, been awhile since I did it
My school offers like 13 APs and I took 11 of them (I didn’t take like art history or music theory)
but i’m pretty sure i’m too 10% of GPA for my school
That’s rlly good then
What UCs r u aiming for
if your class rank is way up there you're probably good
not that the uc's look at class rank but being a top student is something they always want
i thought it was 8 semesters not 8 classes
Ya I think I misspoke
I think you’re right it’s just been awhile
ah ok
Also they can see if you’re ELC so there’s that
elc is kind of a must if you're eligible lol
iirc most admits to the big 3 uc's will have elc
Ah ya
For my friends who I helped with uc apps all were ELC based on class rank but very few would’ve qualified statewide
is therea difference between schoolwide and statewide elc
cuz i have statewide but not schoolwide
cuz nerd school
I don’t think so but idk
my school notified the top 15% percent of our class that they were in top 15%, which i got, but they wont tell me the exact percentile im in. u think being just within top 15% is gud
Does it not say your class rank on your transcript?
we dont do class rank which is why our conselor cant disclose any percentile
or percentage
also our class size is huge. to be exact its 777
Damn
i did get the state wide elc
Slay
tho
I got schoolwide don’t remember if I got statewide
yup. i want to go to ucsd the most
I was val so probably but idk. Transfer doesn’t have ELC so who cares ig
data sci prob one of the most competitive major there
they legit have a seperate college for it
Ucsd isn’t commutable for me so I didn’t apply but it’s a cool school for sure
Nice data science is cool. I know a couple journalism + data science double majors (common for data journalism)
Honestly pretty scared imma get rejected or waitlisted. That deferral from usc has honestly made me question my chances
jay jay
Wishing you the best of luck!
Ya?
what up
Ty
avoiding doing some schoolwork
Mood
and also anxious about the amoun t of decisions coming out this friday
literally like probably 5 schools will be coming
Also remember that UCs can be kinda odd with decisions since they have fewer things to judge you off of (no lors etc). Did you apply to multiple UCs?
Damnn what schools if you don’t mind me asking
6 to be exact
Okay good
I’m also instate so UCs are my best bet when it comes to tuition and financial aid
I had a friend get waitlisted from UCI but accepted at ucla and Berkeley. Shows that each college wants something different and also things can be a bit random
Ah ya
unc, umich, rutgers (probably), neu (probably)
and one more i cant quite recall now
Ah nice, good luck!
Ty
hope that uc transfer comes through
uc be the third choice but yusss go bruins or whatever
Gotta stop calling it fucla
I do not know anyone who has ever applied to any of those
Cali moment
LMAOO
what's the first choice
csu/usc?
damn thats crazy
none of them are west coast
maybe that's why
real
USC if it’s affordable (likely means I’d need merit)
Csu if not
true
Mhm
Before my year we had one person go oos in all my time in hs
wtf
thats insane
And she went to oregon
💀
Which is like close
were u at a competitive hs
Think of the least competitive hs you can think of. Then go about 10 rungs down for that. You’ve got my hs.
A friend of mine two years above did get oos acceptances
But stayed instate
Cause stanny
oh
LMAO
fair
😭
Ya it’s funny we had one person get accepted into t20s in school history then my year all my friends broke the game
We went 6 for 6 (besides me since I ED’d) ucla and everyone bagged tons of privates/oos
that's true tho
DAMN
LMAO
yall broke through
finally
Dime con quién andas, y te diré quién eres.
I applied to berkeley LA SD and irvine
pretty sure la and berk are out of reach 😭 so UCSD and UCI are the main ones. for engineering btw
how would they know then
why dont they
like how would they know my gpa is good for my school
i imagine they’ll take everyone who applied from your school and sort high to low
the uc approach is heavily school centric meaning your school is your “competition”
ahhh I see I see
what if im intl and no one from my school applies
a new reason to hate my frends 😄
well it's up to you if you wanna make it like that
aww man
my school is full of nerds
idk how much truth there is to this but ppl generally say that UCs compare you to ppl in your school but ECs to your location
p much imo
well
to some extent
because my ec's were nothing compared to your average bay area cs gunner
My school gets 20ish ucla acceptances per graduating class, and im like rank 50 🥲
nah trust you got this
3 people got into ucla from my school last year…
we usually have like 30 berkeleys a year n like 10 uclas
I go to a local hs
Switch ucla and berk and thats my school
dope
oop im guessing out of state?
yup lol
nah dw as long as you fit the school you have an amazing chance
so i’m hoping uci will pull through
what college for uci?
engineering
oop
💀💀💀💀
well
i’m screwed
hope u got your stats ready for that
they are alr
UCI though is perfect if you have the credentials
im sure that you can get in
UCI is my target since im instate thats crazy
actually idk if i’m in or below the uc gpa average for engineering
probably as long as you've had less than 3-4ish B's you are good
do they care less about gpa if you had a really hard course rigor?
i hope they do LOL because im in the same boat
i think they care alot about both
i did 10 AP's and 4 dual enrollments but was insanely busy so its a little less than others
weighted?
which is prolly below i think
I have no clue
bsaically
?
theres a difference between weighted (Taking into account difficulty: AP's Honors, IB) and UW (graded based on A, B, C regardless of difficulty)
do you have a different system at your school?
👍
for example I have an OK gpa but a pretty high weighted since I took alot of difficult classes
my school has weighted but I know my unweighted
but UC schools recalculate your GPA based on their standards
how many bs u got
it’s like only 10th and 11th right
yep
don’t know off the top of my head
4-5 probably
are you also doing engineering?
ye
keep in mind that engineering at ANY UC is extremely competitive, even more for out of state, UCLA and Berkeley have sub 3% acceptance rates and the others are also compartively low.
Ill check
yeah my ass is not getting into a UC school then lmaooo
So did I but we had no ucla acceptances in a decade before my year 💀
are ucla and ucb really that low, i'd be kind of surprised
dont know ab merced/riverside theres a chance engineering is not impacted there but i doubt it, i just cant find the stats
maybe im thinking ab comp sci actually
ucla should be pretty low because it's 9% overall
yeah prolly
no way every engineering is that low
i think i remember berkeley being 9% for engineering
i didn’t apply
i applied to uci ucb ucsd and ucla
even our compsci at ucsd is still double digits iirc
bless up ucsd is fire
probably screwd lol
imo if you're near the top of your graduating class and you're in state you're probably ok
hopefully ucsd will accept me 😋 i applied for a program there that hopefully will give me a better chance
wish i was in state 😭
you could always attend a california CC for 1-2 years, graduate with an associates and transfer with relative ease
Do be warned tho that UCSD/UCLA/UCB don’t have TAG
yea but UCLA has TAP, and the local community colleges have 70%+ acceptance rates to ucla IF its not an impacted major
70%+ is inaccurate but yes it’s very high! Great option
Sad that my major is impacted but oh well
these three community colleges around ucla (santa monica college, moorpark college, pierce college) all have EXCELLENT transfer programs if you keep your gpa up
You’re saying this to me like I don’t currently attend one of those three 💀
oop

I’m unsure how that’s possible with 11 aps, did u get a lot of Bs
as a student there though, would you say the transfer program is worth it?
i’m taking 6 ap classes senior year
ucsd is like ~60% for transfer
you're prolly fine
my school didn’t let me take more durring 10th and 11th
Honestly for our school, we send an equal amount to uci, ucsd, ucla, berk. Just imagine 10 people for each of the school
I’m not tap unfortunately since I transferred in from a uni I attended in fall, so I’m only here for 1 semester. But from my friends who are tap, they love it!
Slayy
that is amazing, my only drawback ab CC is whether I can get research internships before grad school, since you are technically missing out on two years at a uni where you can get those opportunities
otherwise i would take it in a hearbeat
Ya there are def fewer opportunities
Tho there still are some!
I’m doing an internship rn where I’m the only cc student. Everyone else is at a 4 year
yea I obviously didn't get my results back but I figure doing 4 years interning at UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCD, and the top two if i get in will help me in grad school
from my observation
most first and second years don't make use of research opportunities at all
i'm in a lab right now but that's because of luck
yea, I know that research and internships are a huge part of grad school admissions, and not so much undergrad prestige and name, so i just figured any UC would be a good fit.
hopefully I will be correct☠️
based
research opportunities are one of the main benefits of going to a huge r1 institution
exactly, everyone focuses on getting into a good undergrad and berkely/ucla have a wide range of opportunities (if you can reach them over the 12k kids in your class). But honestly, all the UC's have good opportunities and are highly accredited, so honestly the college craze is not really worth it unless you aren't doing grad school.
thats just the luck of being a california student ig
ik
the top 3 would be nice but its really not the end of the world if you don't get into them.
You can apply yourself ANYWHERE and show grad school boards that you are committed and know what you are doing.
and if you are smart, you can really succeed in any place
i've observed a lot of people at ucsd have some kind of victim complex where they constantly mope about not getting into somewhere more "prestigious"
ucsd is mad prestigious too is whats crazy about that
like sorry but i have so many friends who would absolutely love to be in their position if they're not appreciating it
I mean yea, going to school for 1/4 tuition as anywhere else, at a top ranked institution/r1 with the BEACH next to you, huge campus, and student resources (hard to get but exist) is crazy to complain about
and that goes with all the UC's
to be completely fair people don't go to the beach that often
it's not really walking distance
ahh i see
still its a beautiful campus
but idk.. where is fit? why do you want to go to a college just because its highly ranked by a group of rich people
Like prestige makes sense but at some point, you gotta relax
for most people it's because they grinded in high school and want something to show for it
idk that is true, but when highschool becomes a grind for college you aren't learning. what happend to taking classes that you truly enjoy learning about, I just took classes I liked and graduated top 10% of my class without even thinking about college until summer of junior year.
but my friends have been thinking about college since elementary, and literally just max out weighted classes without even thinking about what they are interested in
the grind doesn't stop lol
it seems like after you get an admission letter you're chilling but
i love to rep ucsd in here because i think we're slept on but everywhere else i'm slandering this place so hard
lol ucsd has always been a good school, the college system is cool, dorms (the newer ones) look really nice, my ucsd grad friend had an amazing time there, and if you care about prestige its in the T30
idk how it even works fully
do you get admitted based on the college you ranked higher? are the colleges capped, its so confusing
what if i don't want to take humanities or extra writing classes
nobody has any idea how the college matching system works
yea for me i just did sixth, seventh, eighth for top three, than john muir
ERC at the end ofc
although I applied environmental systems so idk how that even applies to admissions since it is a whole 4 year program
good because i put it last
sixth is the best balance but honestly the housing is kinda mid compared to 7th, 8th, and the other stuff we're cooking up
yea hopefully with 8th college, it'll be less competitive this cycle, and 8th looks sick as HELL
ucsd lowkey has been my top UC even before i knew anything ab it
i heard it's great
kitchens for everybody
but it's a lil far from the rest of campus
ahh i see
thats def a drawback
but all new appliances and everything would be nice as a freshman
only thing bad about UCSD, UCLA, UCB are you can barely interact with professors
makes me wish i applied to some LAC's because that is important for sure
Lowkey nervous about the transfer experience at ucla if I go there
Specifically for the daily bruin
i have a friend who did ucla transfer
Noice
she loved it, and ucla has an emphasis on the last two years
That’s good to hear
but im sure transfer has its downsides (not knowing anyone, being limited to transfer social groups, etc, you are late to the game)
For me it’s not rlly an academics/social worry, more of just an ec worry
totally understandable
I know a lot of people at ucla so that part is good
but yea ec's at ucla and berkeley are CRAZY competitive
Not the daily bruin
It’s like most college newspapers in that they accept pretty much everyone who can do the work
The newspaper
Cause first year I’d be a writer, next year I’d be an editor, but likely not a senior board position
i do know alot of journalism majors who have attended grad school
if thats a consideration for you
I will not be attending a graduate j-school
UC's do have a guranteed graduate program as long as you keep your gpa up
ahh than i see
Typically only students who have weak undergrad journalism experience (ie they focused mostly on academics, other stuff, etc) go to graduate j-school
Or ones who want to transition into journalism
Back when I was at medill, none of us were gonna go to grad school
gotchu, is there anyway u can get involved before transferring
or maybe emailing them
is there anything u can do than? lol
Not rlly, it’s just my third choice. Due to having to major in poli sci + the newspaper situation
ahh gotchu
whats your goals for transfer?
are there any other colleges other than ucla
Likely my local csu since the department will give me merit to cover my costs and I love their program
But USC if it gives me merit or rlly good aid, though that’s unlikely
gotchu, both sound like good plans
Hopefully they’ll see northwestern medill and wanna throw money at me
facts!!
Ty! So you want ucsd?
im fine with any UC really
i do live right next to ucla so it would be amazing to get in
but obviously im not counting on it
Good luck!
you too!!
I was on the west side earlier today actually
its just pretty as hell and the culture there is very attractive to me
Nice
I’m in Pasadena and other ucla adjacent areas a lot these days for work
yea, its hard to not want to go to a school when its so close and has quality education
but for straight hs--> undergrad its always a gamble
Mhm
I didn’t apply my time around
Cause I did early decision
i mean yea northwestern is a amazing choice, I would ED if i could afford the colleges
but lowk due to the fact i would get no fin aid i decided to apply to barely any private schools
half the schools i applied to are the UC's
That makes sense, sticker price at a private is crazy expensive
cool
i used to live in arcadia a long time ago
ur here too 😔
bro im a california resident let me be int he uc chat 😭
smh fine
im just a beacon of social energy let me do my thing
la/oc
ur not from bayrea cuz ur social lmao
if you know where that is
kinda far north
not far north, but like a ways east of bay area
ugh central valley
idk why im giving directions lol
oh so like tracy, pleasonton, danville etc?
doesnt that count as bay area
thats me right here 🤚, coming from someone who went to ucsd and hated it there
yea lmao
I have strong feelings about Arcadia hs
the only person I know from there is an ass
lmfaoo i took my sat there
You a transfer?
ye i withdrew from ucsd last quarter and applied for transfer
so im just waiting until april
does ucb/ucla's uncapped gpa calculation just come from 10-11th or 9-11th
10-11 i think
oh ok tks
How do I send my mid year transcripts to UCs? My counselor is asking?
does the UCs admit by major or no?
they dont look at mid year transcripts
Oh okay
are you allowed to send updates to uc schools?
Nope only in LOCI
yo yo yo
My friend got into UCSB already 💀? Is that normal
How?!
I have no clue he told me and he said it was a conditional acceptance 😭 don’t take my word for it tho bc I haven’t actually seen his portal
He could be lying
all acceptances are conditional
Hmm. Does ucsb have a special program
I really can’t think of anything that can give early admission unless he is a recruit
Zero clue
i kinda got something like that
wdym by something like that
they were like we read ur application and want u to apply to this more selective special program
so maybe this person got that
it was from a prof in my major department
oh
could u by chance send that to me in dms im just curious what it may be
yea sure
if anyone else is wondering its CCS (i think)
ucsb is my dream school
what major were they
Which major?
cooked
ucsb decisions take forever to come out
physics
less so for American schools though
like it’s weird for a uni in the us to accept someone only if they get above X in N aps or wtv
that's pretty weird
For UCs
Yeah
thats not rly conditional though
Hey guys
If you apply to a UC for CS and don’t get in through direct admission, do they give you an offer to enroll pre-major or no?
as of now no for the top UCs
is irvine, davis, and sb included in "top UCs"
if they were
that’d be like
5/9 UCs being the top UCs
top ucs have to be like cal, la and maybe one more
SD or SB
usually around here irvine, sd, la, and berk are the top
Davis asw
id say top is la cal and sd
i'd say LA and berk are top of the line
no shit
ppl usually like to include sd in it, but i'd say only if you're doing tech
i agree
its berk > la > sd > irvine
sd has really damm good bio, chem, biochrm, environmental science engineering w super well funded research
yea
tbh i just feel like to me the top ucs are just the ones that arent sc riverside and merced
like id be ecstatic to get into any of the other six
if you know what i mean
obv thats prob not how theyr eactually ranked its just how i feel
just wondering but what’s bad about sc to you ?
nothing in particular, just too close to me
and ive heard facilities arent great
just personal preference tbh
ah makes sense
fr
LOL
ucla and cal are the only ones that can afford popular profs
not that such would matter for undergrad
uc rankings beside ucla and cal change every year
they’re largely equivalent schools beside riverside and merced
true true
could someone share the acceptance rates for UCSD engineering
its low
i feel like ucsc sorta falls with them. davis, irvine, sb, and sd are all similar tier, but still incredible imo
agree
ucsd does not publish that information
ohk
oh please when are the release dates
I've heard ucb does some early releases in feb
For regents scholars and met i think
i think ucsc is late Feb thru March
in general they don’t
i think maybe ucm, ucr, etc might
I believe Ucm and ucr publish
SD/LA definitely don’t for freshmen but SD at least did for transfers last year I think
Davis might?
Berkeley does
I forgot sb
I don’t think Irvine does
I don’t see how this is relevant to what I was saying?
We’re discussing decision release dates
in response to this
srry
do you have these links for any of the other uc campuses?
lmao dw thanks though its helpful info
i wouldve thought they accept more kids instate 😭
😭 gl
im applying next year
thx gl u too 😭
search ucX institutional research and dig around a bit
some schools do have similar data lying around, while some are more opaque
ah thank you!
https://ir.ucsd.edu/diversity/undergrad.html .. i found this link in case anyone else was interested (it says ucsd but you can filter it by each of the uc campuses too)
@soft cargo

what
PAUSE 🛑
is the ucsd portal working for anyone?
yea
Don’t UC schools come out in march?
has anyone with a uc gpa below 4 got into any of the ucs that arent sc riverside merced
im in state with a 3.85 uc gpa bc we can't take aps in 10th and im wondering if its worth holding out for a miracle uc with that gpa or ed2ing to northeastern
what stupid school is that
thats kinda dumb
if ur school has that policy then theres prolly gonna be some way the admissions now thats the case and they weight it diff
if its a cali school, its data is prob here
Ur fine. School look at it by context, but are u instate by chance
Bro i have a 3.95 uc. out of state. and engineering. It’s over for me 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
yes i am
my school
its super super competitive
and i know ucs compare me to rest of my school
confused now how do some people have above 4.0 if aps arent offered
IM LOWER THAN MERCED
11th grade is offered
not 10th
they stack up in 11th grade with 4 or 5
i only did 3 weighted classes
in 11th
hmm ic
if my admitted gpa is too low for merced it might be over yall
honestly im no ao so idk too much, but how many Bs if i may ask
uhh
depends on semester
unweighted 3.7 3.5 3.6 3. 7
in 11th my only b's were weighted classes
in 10th i got bs in english and i think band once or twice
im applying stem
my school is super competitive so
i posted it above
it also depends what major tbh
biomedical engineering
biochem as alternate
cuz the uc data takes into account everyone, prolly skewed by all the cs majors lmao
i think my school might just be crazy competitive like that
wait is the GPA on CSU apply the same as the UC gpa
mine is
I think so

if ur thinking abt the grades i sent then thats probably just a my school thing

here
grade inflation galore
does anyone not have straight As?
me
why is davis gpa higher than berkeley for my school 💀
same here!
I WON ANOTHER DINO
LETS GO
From the UC Davis club
Welcome back to Instagram. Sign in to check out what your friends, family & interests have been capturing & sharing around the world.
I have one already
But I got a larger one this time
Some people have almost 15 of these bruh
Carly's on a roll
Is there somewhere that international students need to provide financial information?
Or is that only after you get accepted somewhere?
same
bru 😭
bruh thats crazy
what website are u using to find these
I’m instate
what did you click. n to find the gpa
found it but when i did univeristy wide it doesst shw all rather just the aerage
is there way o show all of it @royal steppe
nvm
if this is really my schools data, im praying i somehow. get. in
i am pretty curious. i heard ucs arent so holistic and hearing personal experiences, i feel like it isnt. can anyone confirm if ucs are holistic or not
oh really? so the PIQs dont matter as much?
or ECs are weighed more?
idk
i heard academics are weighed a lot more and from what i can tell by my school i think it pretty mch connfirms it but i was curious if anyone had some miracle stories or if they know the actual process
oh shit, im not sure how competitive my GPA is since my school doesnt rank cuz in the past there were some issues with kids having bad mental health from it
Will the UCs weigh my GPA accordingly?
yeah its over for me
me and u we will survive and make it out alive
i think it varies based on instate oos
in cali everybody has amazing ecs and essays on top of great gpas so they're prolly more holistic because they can't choose by gpa
Whyyyy
ur gpa is usually compared to ur school cuz some schools have deflation while others have inflation
I'm intl and it works for me lol
ucla please take me 😭
@turbid ermine hey could you pls link the post Abt what dates the decisions comes out for uc's and other colleges in March? Sorry I know u posted it somewhere before but I can't find it now!
No bc they’re not confirmed
Oh
It's last year's right?
I would still like to see approximate/estimate dates please!!
just think everything last 2 weeks of march
Then you can go on the website
They’re already there
Which website? Sorry lol
The a2c website?
Our college decision dates calendar lists when each university is releasing their admissions decisions, including the class of 2028.
is this what you re looking for ey
who r u
yall get that random email from berkley abt writing 💀
yeah
yeah
Got my hopes up for a bit

FR LOL ESP BECAUSE I HEARD EARLY DECISIONS GO OUT IN FEB
OHH for UC's??
wait do all UCs release a few early, and how do uk if urs is coming out early
my mom geeked
jus berkeley for regents and met
^
yeaa im prob not gonna get that lmao
i heard u could still get an early noti if it wasnt regents at least from last year
oh heyy wsg usc guy
ur sent an email saying an update has been made to ur portal
instead of a regent email
you'll get in early if you got regents and if you got into MET then you'll get your decision
Ohhh
oh fr?
wsp
What's met o am still confused 😭
yup
management engineering technology
you get an engineering and business degree and the program is mad hard to get into
like 50 people in total
im just curious cuz my dad has a met graduate degree and im assuming there is
but ive never heard of it
idk
Oh 😭☠️
Hey USC number 1 fan what decisions did u apply? EA or RD
ea
i wouldve ed'd if they had that option
Oooo
So it's USC as the end goal huh? Lol 😂
yeah usc or bust
Ig I will go to if they give me a handsome load of aid 😍🥰
Living up to name gl pooks 🙏
thx shlime!
god that was so painful to do on phone
yeah if they don't let you in submit your merch as optional portfolio
Got this ELWR email, how hard is it comparing to the english part from sat?
If you took english part of sat idt you need to do the elwr exam
If you got >680
Berkeley said to refer to the UC official website
and here is the thing, I have a >680 digital intl SAT score (the UC official site said it is UNusable) and a 5 in Seminar (the UC official site said it IS usable) and the Berkeley site acknowledged none of the two
Come to davis we talk about reddit
i am not getting into davis
my mom would love to send me to Davis
can anyone answer this question
plz
fr
😭
is this full weighted or capped
bc idk how u get over 4.33 if not capped
im a hs junior
😭
im overthinking everything
im just here to pass info to my senior friends
wtf are you doing here then lol
data means nothing
zilch
0
your friends either get in or they don't
there's no magic gpa number that guarantees acceptance
I've seen 3.0s get in and I've seen 4.0+ people rejected
college admissions are 60% skill, 40% luck lol
great question: maybe coping
dude, you should probably be working on maximizing your grades than looking at admissions data at this point
admissions data rapidly change year to year
higher GPAs=more likely to get in though
so you should probably be working on that than having mini heart attacks looking at numbers
It’s capped
how does it exceed 4.33 then, bc pretty much everyone takes at least 6 classes
Might be weighted not sure but for my data seems like capped is right for me
Has there been a 0 period or has a kid gotten straight As with straight Aps
Max at my school is 5 aps (not a cap but just course offerings)
how many APs do people at ur school usually take in 10/11
oi
@humble nova @runic hawk hey y'all are the cali people i know so i wanted to ask some stuff to prove my mom wrong
approximately out of your senior class every year, what percent go to uc's? ivies? csu's? top oos publics like uiuc purdue etc? cali privates like usc scu uh lmu idk? not any of these?
i know that's very specific but literally rough approximations is fine 😭
if anyone else is cali instate that works too🙏
my mom seems to think EVERYONE in cali ONLY goes to cali and the ones who go oos are those who didn't get into uc's/csu's
uhhh no idea
nope lol
but like what about other amazing OOS colleges 😭
bro my friend who was cali instate goes to Purdue and my mom is like that's only because she didn't get uc's
💀
like ok maybe she didn't get ucla or berk but im def sure she got at least three or four, she had a 4.0 gpa 😭
if I get into MIT, I'm going to MIT over the UCs any day
oh okay
ivy+ yeah people will choose that over UCS as long as they can afford
still
but her logic is if it's not ivy+, they'll only go oos if no uc's
like Purdue, UIUC, GTech, UW, etc.
and i need stats to prove her wrong
eh, not rly true
ok my school is full of freaks but half our class gets into irvine, everyone gets into a a UC of some kind (97% riverside AR), class size of around 160, i’d say 10-15 ivies, a good 15-20 USCs, a couple ivy equivalents (mit stanford etc)
a fair share of oos public’s but most people choose UCs over those (bar maybe UT, purdue because it’s affordable, GT, and uiuc)
i’d say around 10 people get into each of these oos public’s
but a lot of people end up choosing berkeley or uci over to save money on inatate
this is kinda true but it’s generally for affordability purposes
i can screen share naviance stats sometime if u want
damn 💀
most of my school go to CSUs/community colleges, some UCs (~20???) out of ~200 class size
but i also go to a t20 public hs and there’s freaks and geeks out here
not many people choose purdue over uci at our school tbh but that’s just because almost everyone decently slightly competitive gets in
oh
ic
my school is #1 in our area, but def not anything crazy
o
tysm!!
no affordability i'd get but that wasnt her argument lol
t20 public hs damn 💀
bro i wanna get into uci so bad ugh
im also a cali kid ! i go to a top public hs, so this isn’t reflective of average students at all. our senior class is ab 5-600 kids. last year, ~40-50 kids got into berk, about 30 kids into ivies + stanford caltech mit etc. to answer ur main question ca kids go everywhere, but if they dont get into a good oos option, csu is the way for my school at least
yea we r also freaks so uh !
30 kids ivies wtf 💀
ik a lot of people who if they arent into ucb, theyll prob go to one of the “techs” umich, udub, purdue, uiuc, chapel hill, etc
unc, uva, umich are all better than any uc for finance
and they are all public oos schools
everytime i underestimate bay area kids
mm but public oos is expensive except purdue
BAY AREA.
to me all of cali is bay area
real
👎
usc number #1 fan is also socal
is socal better than norcal for schools
like competitiveness and stuff
because afaik schools like saratoga and freemont are hella cracked
i mwan it depends
i just lice in a wealthy area so 🧍🏽
basixallt
if ur close to a uc
- live ina. wealthy area
= good school
clearly not wealthy enough to be able to type without typos 🙄 /j
IM BRUSHING MY TEETH RN BEO
🤷🏽😎😇💖😜🫶🏼
santa cruz
tho thats more mid
but yes
ahhhh
mylo i dont think ive ever seen you in the server before, hows your app season going
ooh ok!!
@undone tendon bro ghosted 😔
unless you dont wanna reply ofc
or you take 10 minutes to brush your teeth
cali kids are weird
(im a cali kid)
school :)
0% Ivies last year, 3/300 for usc, lots of csus (higher than ucs), lots of ucs maybe like 12-15%?
damn 0 ivies
Not true we had a lot of oos too
you're like rural right
Suburb yeah
ucla finance is crazy lol
its ass
😦
ucla is easily the worst t20 for high finance
idk maybe its just bias cuz i know successful people from ucla and not really the other schools cuz im in socal
sure
When are regents and chancellors predicted to come?
idk diddly squat bout finance my fault
apparently this friday for berkeley thats what my friends have been saying
Dang ok
girl you should check the berk thread
Yikes ok
Good morning UC Davis
My graduating class had around 20-30% going to UC's. It was kinda high my year cause we were the first graduating class.
oooh ok
Wait so whats the dealio on early releases?
abt 33% UCs, 33% oos private, usually top schools, about 25% cali private like stanny, mudd, etc, and 10% to csu or cc
1% of ppl got scholraships will get accepted right
check #1135713116425035837
ok thanks!
its going well !! i got a nice scholarship for a target school i like (1/2 of tuition for oos). now i gotta wait on udub, ucs, n privates i applied to ! need to apply to some scholarships by wnd of april but overall going well
have a light homework load this spring due to having a ta period i do a lot of my hw in so spring is going well !!
I live in Davis of course our police cars look like this!!!
just kick the car a little hard and itll end up all the way in berkeley
@everyone the freshmen UC and Cal State Statement of Intent to Register (SIR aka what you need to commit to a UC/Cal State) deadline has been extended to May 15. If you are admitted off the waitlist after this date, you will get additional time to submit an SIR. However, if you’re waitlisted, you should commit to another school if you don’t get accepted to a UC/Cal State by May 15 (although you should aim for May 1 if other schools don’t follow this May 15 change). You can withdraw your original commitment if you get off the waitlist, but you likely won’t receive your deposit back.
Today (Feb. 7) the University of California announced that all nine of its undergraduate campuses will extend their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deadline for first-year undergraduate students to May 15. UC campuses have made this decision for students and their families impacted by the current delays to the Free Application for Federal ...
Not sure if any other schools will or have or plan to follow
What about wait-lists??
Waitlists are always given past May 1 if accepted after May 1
If you’re waitlisted you need to commit elsewhere
Oooo
got dayum
Thanks!
And then drop if needed
is this cuz of fafsa
idk what 15 days does
I thought we didn't have an option to drop! Thanks for informing me!!
more time to decide only
Yep
You just won’t get your deposit back in most cases
Money hungry college hoes 😭
