However caltechh is extremely selective they only take like 200 kids
Honestly, I'm a super big essays advocate, bc I think essays can definitely make up a low gpa, if it's really good. There are thousands of applicants with a 4.0 + 1600, so really good stats don't really even stand out much honestly at this point.
However, I think good essays make you stand out as an applicant a lot, so it probably can make up for a lower gpa
It's also good if you have good scores for subjects related to cs though, like math, sciences, cs courses, and stuff
I think colleges are more lenient on low history/english grades and stuff like that if you are applying as a cs major
