Schools: Northeastern University, University of Toronto, Mcgill
Intended major: Computer Science and Mathematics
Similarities: Both in major cities, both have strong cs departments, both would allow me to pursue graduate school

Info: I’m already committed to Northeastern University, however they did not appeal my financial aid and are asking for an unreasonable amount. However, through discussions with family we have concluded that I will be able to get through undergrad without going more than 50k in debt, and my family is going to do everything they can to support me. I do not want this post to be about finances, it is just something to note. I am mostly concerned with placement and general workload

Northeastern
School 1 Pros:
In the USA
I've lived in Boston before and loved it, also NU has been my dream school for a long time
Co-Op & almost guaranteed internships
I can get a masters in 5 years and I can also do a dual major and minor in Spanish

School 1 Cons:
Tbh none. Not internationally recognized ig

U of T
School 2 Pros:
More prestigious /I love the vibe and architecture on campus. Also just the whole "UofT"
Can get Canadian citizenship/More to personally grow with

School 2 Cons:
Never lived in Toronto/Weather/Not in the USA
Not sure if I will be able to pursue Spanish or math
still need to apply at end of first year
School 3 Pros:
I don't even know why im considering this, i ruled it out before bc of internships.
Montreal is really nice but its too close to home (upstate NY)
I love Montreal lol

I would really appreciate anyone that can attest to how either school would be regarding internships and general job placement after grad. i plan on working in the USA. I also want to mention again that I just love the U of T vibe and i can see myself identifying with that more than NEU, but i am just so in deep with neu rn. Also, if i go to neu and hate it i dont think i would wish for toronto, but i can see it w/uoft

Canadian citizenship doesn’t matter if you’re not pursuing a career there

#

Honestly, if you have no cons with Northeastern, I think you should continue with the original plan and go there

#

Also, northeastern is a very prestigious and competitive school nowadays, I wouldn’t worry too much about international recognition
