Personally, I wouldn't say that Reed's rigor is a positive because the school has some of the most extreme grade deflation in the country to the point of hurting graduates. Carleton will be rigorous enough.

I think its doesn't affect their grad admissions as much because Reed and its difficulty is fairly well known in academia. However, I think it shows in other places like their relatively low career earnings and graduation rate. I think if you know you want to go to grad school, then both places are great, and I definitely would considered which place is culturally a better fit.

yeah reed is very very academic but maybe TOO much? to the point where it's a bit... excessive

it's comparable to like... uchicago i would say?
